BfA's writing for the Horde seemed really inconsistent and sloppy; like I still find it incredibly distracting that Anduin of all people, leader of the Alliance at the time, had to give Saurfang a prep talk about how awesome the Horde "really" was, even after all that had happened. To me it felt weirdly condescending on the part of Blizzard's writing staff; like first the Horde is cast as the clear-cut 'evil' side of the expansion, only for the story to turn around and say "oh, but THAT wasn't REALLY the Horde!" and then proceed to treat them as these innocent puppydogs who would never harm a fly. Is it just me? Or has Blizzard completely forgotten how to write moral ambiguity?
@dev0ur408

BfA writing is just sh*t. Like just recently I played the Horde's Stormheim campaign and the pre-BfA Sylvanas and BfA Sylvanas are just two totally different character, changed by an unnatural shift.

As a player of the Horde I don't know why they didn't let us choose not to follow Sylvanas, just as they didn't let us mount an opposition front from the beginning to counter the madness that was coming ... at least they let us save some Night Elf in Teldrassil
@HalloWitch93

@@dev0ur408 I noticed that too. BfA royally dropped the ball in regards to Sylvanas's development; and now in SL I get the sense that they're trying to retcon all that. Like if you compare Legion Sylvanas to SL Sylvanas, to me at least it seems a lot less jarring than it is in present canon.

@@albodav9602 I wholeheartedly agree. I didn't even play through the Burning of Teldrassil for that very reason, as despite being a Horde player myself I have a deep-seated love of the night elves and Teldrassil. The internment camps themselves were the best option out of a list of bad ones. It wasnt a long list. The problem is in how poor they were treated, no attempts made to try and understand or reform any orcs, and how it eventually was making the turn into full blown enslavement Orcs in the camps were sometimes enslaved as servants after all. Thrall was far from unique in being a slave

I'm still kinda bothered by the fact that the writers decided to make the Horde the constant aggressors for like a decade, while at the same time still trying to portray both factions as "neither evil nor good". We had Garrosh being the aggressor in Cata and Mop, then Sylvanas in BfA. It's kinda annoying cuz since warcraft3 the narrative of the WoW lore was "2 morally grey factions having a conflict", so I felt comfortable creating a Horde character and imagining him as a chaotic good, but its kinda difficult when the prepatch of BfA sent us to Darkshore to commit genocide. I personally really hope that Turalyons storyline will lead to some aggression from the alliance, to balance stuff out.

Well wow started on that alliance versus horde stuff and tbh that's probably the perspective of a lot of wow players. When you scale the picture out you can see that a lot of stuff has happened because gods and higher forces messed with Azeroth. Orcs are on Azeroth because of the titans, I think night elves became night elves because of Elune which also then led them to destroying the whole world almost for 3 times, thats why elves are racist sometimes lol, they are so closed off because its a terrible thing to think what ur race has done, ofc the reason why is Azshara but IDK if the alliance even existed then. Draenei wouldnt be on Azeroth if it werent for the titans. Arthas wouldnt become the lich king. A lot of key stuff is God's work. Pull the strings, watch them dance. And if u wanna judge wow, dont play the game lol, the game is awful. As you said, u maybe want to be horde but u wouldnt commit that genocide, its not like u had a choice. I think there should be no factions. If ur an orc and u get reputation with an alliance race, you can go there, live there, fight for them.

The Alliance is the passive faction. Things happen to the alliance, they're the NPC faction... The Horde is active, makes things happen, it represents the will of the player, they're the protagonists of the game... Alliance not that innocent. What's next? Horde not that evil. It's Horde that first invaded Azeroth. It's Horde leaders who worshipped demons and corrupted their own kind for power. It's Horde started every war. Alliance only main goal was to restore their old kingdoms and unity they had before all those war and plagues. It's not war crime to act aggressive if your opponent is pushing hard to your land. Forsakens should be eradicated from Eastern Kingdoms.
@vados8500
@vados8500 3 года назад
@Nomad Rider that's because Blizzard always whitewash the Alliance way more than it's necessary because their fans don't want to be "morally grey" in the slightest, but for example in the original canon lore (before the retcons of the Chronicles) it was the Alliance who started the war in Cataclysm as Varian declared war against the Horde in the Battle for Undercity in WotLK, and also Genn attacked Warchief Sylvanas first in Legion. Forsaken are former Humans and also thematically bound to Lordaeron as they lived there so they are never moving away from there, Blizzard don't move races casually in the world...even the Night Elves who recently lost Teldrassil, they still got Hyjal and Darkshore and maybe Ashenvale so they are still there, Forsaken are still in Lordaeron even without Undercity
@tengisulziisaikhan5421

@@vados8500 Sylvanas was one who pushed Gilneas borders and started invasion. She killed and raised Gilnian civilians as undead to recruit in Forsaken army. Even if Forsakens are former Lordearon citizens but they still joined Horde. I can't really blame Alliance for rejecting Forsaken to their ranks because of the influence of the Light. Even Lordearon deserters are against Forsaken. They destroyed much of Silver Pine and Hillsbrad with undead plague and corrupted the nature. Lordearon was human kingdom. And by right it belongs to the Alliance. Not Horde and undead. Forsakens always do some shady things and backstabbing in various expansions. After all we now know Sylvanas was not doing all those things for good of the Forsakens but for Jailer. Much like Lich king. And what do you mean by night elves still have Dark shore and Hyjal. If someone comes to your house and burn it to the ground would you be "Oh no worries. We will move to somewhere else!". In later expansions Ashenvale got pushed and we even see horde invasion force in Darkshore. Also honorary warchief bombing Theramore was god damn disgusting. Garrosh was likable until he bombed Theramore. I play Alliance because it's not fair that Horde always keep getting away without any consequences for their actions.

Brutal? Yes, justified? Yes. 3, Forsaken forces attempted to enslave the Val'kyr after Sylvanas mad a deal with Helya, the Alliance routed them and prevented Sylvanas from accomplishing here evil goals, which are currently being portrayed in Shadowlands, therefore it was justified. 2, Wasn't an Alliance crime, it was Onyxia who manipulated them. 1, The Alliance wasn’t responsible for Garithos, Garithos was not appointed by the Alliance, he just happened to be the highest ranked solider left alive in Lorderan. A lot of them were resisting, and especially given that someone that was working inside them had given garrosh access to such a weapon, that would certainly warrant an investigation, which is ultimately what was demanded apart from their removal from dalaran. She had every understandable reason to want to exterminate them from off the face of azeroth, and had Kalecgos not talked her down (not thrall, he was losing) she would have. The horde's biggest crime was bombing theramore... And not stormwind
@pavlerakic3951
@pavlerakic3951 3 года назад
there was no reason to bomb stormwind and it would probably have been less of a casualty because it would take them a lot more to send a zepellin all the way to stormwind, the reason why the horde wanted to take theramore is so that they have the control of the entire continent. And sylvanas kinda extended that by burning teldrassil. Now idk where the nelves will move, since there is not a lot of them but kalimdor is generally horde now, maybe the ones left are the draenei.

the main difference between Horde crimes and Alliance crimes is that Horde is the Horde and Alliance tries to pose as the 'good guys' with super high moral standards and to invoke their moral superiority over Horde. that's called hipocrisy. Instead I got: non sanctioned acts of war, justified attacks against hostile camps allowing civilians to flee, not kindly asking a ship of historic horde mercenaries if they are mercenaries this time, more non sanctioned acts that got Jaina booted, more justified responses to hostility, more non sanctioned acts, etc, etc... I mean I don't think the Alliance is innocent, there are no innocents in war... But the Horde is just an entire new level of villainy. I hope your next video is not "top 10 kind things the Horde has done", that wouldn't seem right considering your avatar is an orc and all that... It'll be like listening to Sylvanna's defenders...

I'd also mention something about Alterac, all kinds of gray area things happening in those mountains from the kingdom betraying Lordaeron to the Horde and the Stormpike invasion on the Frostwolf Clan. Bael Modan was also only 1 of many illegal Dwarf excavations. Did these not make the list because they were not technically affiliated with Alliance at these times? If that's the case than a lot of the crimes attributed to the Horde can be expunged as well.

@Necroking Darak purge of Dalaran too, Tauren and Blood Elves are the two races usually more abused by the Alliance because they are the "softer" side of the Horde right now and the Alliance feels more comfortable attacking them in a faction war because they know usually they won't bite back a lot. Indeed we rarely see the Humans taking violent actions or doing crimes directly against Orcs or Forsaken (Undercity had to be destroyed by Sylvanas herself...) despite these two races certainly deserve the retribution of the Alliance way more than Tauren and Blood Elves, but the Humans are afraid of their revenge and the violent repercussions that could happen
