20:21 I hated how in Nightmares 4-6 Freddy went from a scary character with sick, twisted dark humour to a comedy act making bad jokes for the sake of it. Wes Craven's New Nightmare made him creepy again and thankfully in Freddy vs Jason he was more like Nightmares 1-3 Freddy than 4-6 Freddy.

Freddy's Dead is such a guilty pleasure of mine, same with Seed of Chucky. They're so, so bad that I get a lot of fun out of them. Also, the power glove kill definitely aged the flick hard. The NES power glove was a real thing that died about a year after debuting. It's sort of fitting that the only time it'd work would involve a psychotic dream demon 🤔.

You guys both have passion for horror and film that can’t be faked and it’s a pleasure to watch. Don’t let anybody or anything discourage you guys from doing what you do because in my opinion you both do it better than anybody I’ve seen on here.

Woo great countdown. I feel you on Aliens 3. While not awful, can’t forgive just dropping the ending to Aliens basically to pivot to the story Fincher wanted to tell. I’d argue while I can watch even the worst Aliens after that -this decision did hurt the franchise storyline. Also never even knew Lost Boys had sequels. Learn something new every day. Also totally got what you meant on The Next Generation. It didn’t add to the horror of Leatherface and it didn’t know what it wanted to be.

Seed of chucky has my favorite chucky look its so clean. Also glenn had two souls trapped in his body so that's why there was the split in personality and why they each got their own body

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but to me Final Nightmare is so bad it's amazing. It fails miserably as a horror movie, but I'm never bored watching Freddy's convoluted nonsense and laughing at the absolute stupidity of the dialogue. Robert Englund sounds like he's having a fun time and that just makes me have a fun time too. I think my least favorite sequel is Ring 2. I don't know why, I just can't get invested in it unlike the first movie. I just feel like the mystery elements of the first movie got scrapped in favor of some sort of demonic possession narrative, and the mystery element is what drew me in. A sorta slow burn realization of the mythology of the videotape. I even liked Rings cuz there was that sort of slow burn mystery behind what was happening. Ring 2 didn't really have that imo and for that reason it didn't land for me.

with the exception of Halloween III:Season of The Witch the problem with the Halloween sequels between 1981-2002 including the remake and it’s sequel is that they got so top heavy with the mythology lore and backstory that it took away the essence of what makes the 1978 horror classic so good

I remember how I felt when I seen the Seed of chucky poster at the theater and was so excited because of the ending of Bride of chucky. I remember it being the biggest let down for any character I loved. I have a good guy doll now but not that movie. The memory is hard enough.

I love Alien 3. Took some time to get here but I consider it a great horror film and it fits just fine with the first 2. It's dark as fuck and it's clear from the beginning that there's no escape or happy ending in this universe. I love Freddys Dead and Friday8. I consider New Nightmare and Jason Goes to Hell the worst in their respective franchise. I also feel like Resurrection and the Zombie films are the worst in the Halloween series. 5 is at least still part of the series. I didn't even know there were sequals to Jeepers Creepers. I thought that original film was awful. 100% agreed with the TCM sequal. What a terrible movie. I'm really surprised that Predators and Diary of the Dead didn't make your list

I love Halloween 5 despite its flaws and TCM: TNG is a guilty pleasure for me but yeah I'd have a hard time defending the rest of these lol

Funny . Because Freddys dead gave me my first ever nightmare as a kid. That parachute scene really fucked me up and outside of Halloween I can never remember being as scared

6:29 It's got a really shitty novelisation too Cody where it's said that a witch doctor put a curse on the Brody family and resurrected the shark from the original and sent it after them. Which is stupid because Jaws never had supernatural elements. It was just about a great white shark that unlike real life great whites had an appetite for human flesh and terrorised an island.

Halloween 5 is a complete mess and a waste of time. I got it dead last in my Halloween rankings.

Also straight up love TCM the Next Generation. I mean it's the Room of slasher movies.

I’m a Freddy Fanatic as well Cody and I completely understand why Freddys Dead is #1 it’s without a doubt the worst film of the franchise and it’s sad because it’s apart of my favorite horror franchise of all time it has my favorite horror villain and favorite final girl ever and the way they did Freddy in this movie was TERRIBLE!!! thank goodness Wes Craven came back to do A New Nightmare

I never got the hate for Jason Takes Manhattan, I really like the stuff on the boat and Kane Hodder is always a bright spot in every Jason movie he is in.

Had fun with this one Cody, been behind your uploads recently I haven't seen half the movies on this list but completely agree on Destination 4, Aliens 3, Manhatten & Halloween 5. Although I've watched all of them twice (H5 maybe thrice). Alien 3 is like Terminator Dark Fate to me, arguably not the worst in the franchise but just pointless. And I'm definitely the type of person who looks at following up a great/good film with trash worse than just another bad film in a string of many. Some of my suggestions below: Poltergeist III: As a big fan of II (more than the original because of Kane) the whole story with just the production makes it unwatchable to me. American Psycho 2: Again, the prior film is so far ahead and although I could understand the opening to a sequel, they just did the worst job possible. Carrie 2: Lot of people forget this and I thought it was a joke watching on tv once. Lo and behold, absolutely pointless, all around cheap inferior copy. I Still Know What You Did Last Summer: This is a case of the first one not being that great so understandable but it's A LOT worse. I actually couldn't finish watching it all three times it came up. Hellraiser sequels. There are a few options depending on how you slice it. Hell on Earth is my #1 pick because I think Hellraiser 2 is genius and well done and prefer it over the original. But at the same time if I look at Inferno, that was the start of non-hellraiser scripts with pinhead shoehorned in and I really enjoyed the way they were going with Bloodline (one day maybe get the extended cut). The you have Revelations which I haven't seen but was done for copyright reasons and is an absolute dumpster fire by every single review.

I was surprised no Wrong Turn 5 since it's probably fresh in your mind! Top 2 were no surprise, I feel bad, as you get almost physically stressed when talking about Freddy's Dead. Great video!

To be honest, the 3 sequels that I'm truly a fan of are Freddy's Dead, Halloween 5 and Jason Takes Manhattan. I love H5 because of it's darker and more doom-and-gloom kind of vibe it has at least to me. But that part you said about the 2 cops and the clown music was hilarious lol. I love Jason Takes Manhattan because it's just so 80's and I feel as though it's darker than the others. Freddy's Dead is a sequel that I think is a blast to watch because of it's overall cartoonish nature. Plus, you can tell Robert Englund was giving it his all as Freddy. The only thing I didn't like about Final Nightmare was when Maggie got into a wrestling match with Freddy which I thought was the only lazy part of the climax. I would have loved to have seen Maggie, Tracy and Doc pummel Krueger all at once which in my opinion, definitely could have been done. The Skeleton Demon Fish comment was funny by the way 😂
