@@tcoren1 Honestly, even against Worms their not even that great sadly. Although a few of them can be pretty ok (Cycle Reader, Quarantine, Decisive Armor, etc.). Most of the archetype are just far too weak. I wish they get new support to really help them out against Light and Flip decks at least if nothing else.

While you're generally right, Konami's made some amazing amounts of bullshit over the years, especially during the early days. So, as if the targeting vs specifically-says-this-shit-targets wasn't bad enough, there are old cards that *actually* target that *DON'T FUCKING SAY SO* Given how the Cthonian trap series belinged to Chazz during early GX, it wouldn't be weird, at all, if this stupid card targets as well. I can't be arsed to check, though, so let's just forget it exists.

Many, many old cards do not work like that and just target regardless of if they say it or not.

@@nulllex0099 Well, I think those cards got reprinted with the text changed to specify that they target (ex: Dark Core). I 100% agree, it’s annoying. I got three copies of the original text “Dark Core” and I can’t even use it because it was errata’d.

@@TheDuelLogs Its pretty stupid that it counts as targeting even though it literally doesn't say "TARGET" on there. That just opens a can of worms in terms of rulings stuff on how things are worded.

The card was great back in the day when everything was Fusion summoned. I even main decked this card years ago before Synchros became popular

@@l-isreal5972 Just checked and Chthonian Polymer's effect does target, but Tributing a monster your opponent controls with Lair of Darkness to activate it does not target since it is the cost to activate it and not the effect

@@konoaricao Even if like 5 or less of the 20+ Rank Up Magic cards in the game are good, it is still a idea that can be made and if it just becomes a top 5 best and top 5 worst, that is fine as well.

This is such a good list idea, one card I could come up with was Link Burst. It would be a decent card if only it could be activated during your opponents turn.

Aromage Rosemary (is forced to change itself to defense pos. when you gain life, if opponent has no monsters) Harpie's Hunting Ground (you must destroy this card with its own effect if you summon a harpie and no other spells/traps are in play) Aria the Melodious Diva (neither can target it with card effects, even though it would be beneficial for you to do so) Gameciel (using it the way non- kaiju decks do is just giving your opponent an omni negate that they pay for by stealing kaiju counters from your field spell) Alien Mars (negates the effects of monsters with A-Counters, including your other Aliens if they have any on them) The entire Arcana Force archetype except The Fool, Temperance, Light Ruler, Dark Ruler, and The World (if you lose the coin toss they put you at a disadvantage rather than just doing nothing) Cocoon of Evolution (doesn't change Petit Moth to defense mode on activation so you ALSO need some sort of spell card to protect it from battle the turn you play it) Gate Guardian (has no actual useful effect despite being an effect monster, unlike its 3 pieces which are decently statted monsters in their own right, which can be summoned by tributing any 2 monsters each and have a decent on field effect to destroy any monster attacking them one time only.) Jam Breeding Machine (unlike in the anime, the tokens can't be used for a tribute summon. This was common in early yugioh where Konami was very hesitant to make any half-decent tribute summoning engine, despite the plethora of field wipes and monster destruction effects which would balance it out)

What’s hilarious is that it’s the exact same pack as their premiere too lmao. That pack was ass because it focused so hard on flip effects after most stopped being good thanks to a greater number of good monster removal effects being in the game. It’s certainly an iconic pack though because it didn’t just introduce the Charmers but also was the first GX pack as it had the first wave of HEROes and the pack cover was even Ancient Gear Golem (which was ass for a very long time as well lmao).

Aereon Gaming That's not even true. Shaddoll need to be sent to GY for cards' effect and not cards' cost. (Sending for Tragoedia is a cost)

Since the Aliens are all about putting counters on monsters, perhaps the activation requirements for the monster stealing cards were deemed easier to fulfil than the cards on this list.
