She had a different dress but turns out I think Amanda Seyfried had the same or similar dress so Anne changed to what she had on and she was pissed off about it. I disagree fundamentally that Brando should have made the speech about Native rights. It's significantly more impactful to have someone from the affected group speak on their own behalf. And it worked clearly. We're still talking about it today. That speech is largely so uncomfortable bc the Academy handled it absolutely disgustingly in the moment. And to a lesser extent, Annie Hathaway's speech is totally fine, I don't get it being cringe at all, except that ppl at the time made a concerted effort to hate her for misogynist reasons, so they had to hate her speech too.

@@jackvlahos407 it’s just that, rather than assist her, he sent an obviously pretty intimidated woman to speak in front of the world and the entire Hollywood establishment. An Oscars producer would even later claim that John Wayne had to be held down because he was so enraged by her presence. The exact validity of that statement is very questionable, but I still think Brando should have at least accompanied her to the ceremony, or, I don’t know, perhaps he could’ve released a statement prior to the evening detailing why he wasn’t attending, rather than just send someone else up there. It just reads as a bit cowardly to me is all. She was also the subject of several jokes that night, Raquel Welch and Clint Eastwood for example, and Michael Caine even criticised Brando for not doing it himself.

It's what keeping his channel from being anything more substantial, meaningful or interesting than your average watch mojo channel that regurgitates easily found information that you put on while doing dishes. Compare that to a project like Be Kind Rewind. Brian's videos are borderline unwatchable if that's the only thing you're doing at any given time. His milquetoasts opinions on everything and his obvious unwillingness/disagreement with rocking the boat sterilize the channel.

I personally think Melissa Leo did about as much as she could. This was supposed to be her moment. The nominees most likely are nervious when the presentation of their category starts. Kirk Douglass just went on and on and on. The audience seemed to find it amusing. So after sitting there on the edge for a bit of time, her name is called. I would be a bit jumbled up following that, trying to give a great speech for something she will most likely never happen to her again. His intentions may have been good, but he did not do any flavors for the winner. The following day, when people were talking about the winners and showing clips, they could not talk about Melissa without talking about Kirk. When recaping Best Supporting Actress, they would mention her name, then spent the rest of the time talking about Kirk and playing cips of him.

In retrospect, Ben’s Affleck’s thanking his ex wife, was not particularly heartfelt or truthful. Seemed like when he said, “It’s work….” Then he tries to make up for that but saying, “But it’s good work and there’s no one else I’d rather do it with.” They divorced soon after. Now he’s in the verge of the second divorce. So Benny needs to just stay single and enjoy himself.

Mine: (Worst or Cringy Speech at the Oscars - my opinions) 1. Matt Damon & Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay - 1998) …. Seems like you forgot about this controversial one, Brian. 2. Jim Burke, Charles B Wessler, Brian Hayes Currie, Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga (Best Picture - 2019) …. Not only Green Book is the worst Best Picture winner of all-time, all the producers gave the most cringy and sneezy speech ever at the Oscars. 3. Will Smith (Best Actor - 2022) …. You already sum it all up, Brian. 4. Takashi Yamazaki (Best Visual Effect - 2024) …. Whether you agreed that Godzilla Minus One deserves to win this category or not (although The Creator has a better VFX), and while the message of his speech was pretty heartfelt. But let’s be real, he really need a translator and someone should warn him before that moment, it should have been a beautiful moment for the Asian people to be proud like the victory of Parasite x EEAAO x RRR, instead he got too much exciting that his English Barrier made the moment looks even more cringy and awkward big time that The Academy have to playing the music to kick them off the stage. If he use the translator, it will be more better and awesome like Bong Joon-Ho. This set the low bar for International or English 2nd language competitors that could look pretty weak or bad in the future too. He should’ve had a translator with him. 5. Jennifer Lawrence (Best Actress - 2013) …. I knew she was pretty exciting on her victory at the moment, but come on, let’s be honest it was 1000% awkward and she didn’t even prepare her speech at all, it’s so cringe and way too short, she’s only thanks to the important people that pushing her for that victory (including Harvey Weinstein) and nothing more. She did made a history, but her victory doesn’t age well and her speech is just too silly. 6. Harvey Weinstein (Best Picture - 1999) …. Yeah, we don’t need to give Harvey Weinstein an Oscar and this speech shown how narcissistic of this evil person really is. 7. Cuba Gooding Jr. (Best Supporting Actor - 1997) …. An all-timer cringe. 8. Matthew McCeunaghey (Best Actor - 2014) …. Yep, a narcissistic at worst. 9. Gwyneth Paltrow (Best Actress - 1999) …. Long before JLaw’s awkward speech, Gwyneth Paltrow messed it up for her moment. 10. Pedro Almodóvar (Best Foreign Language - 2000) …. I like Almodóvar but this speech was pretty ridiculous for him.

They are all cringe-worthy, if you ask me.This just proves that Hollyweird is run by and filled with self-absorbed narcisists going crazy over a gold statue that has no meaning or value and, at best, makes a nice little bric-a-brac bookend for your bookshelf. Will Smith's behavior was unconscionable. Then there's Miss "MS", her own biggest fan her entire life, intolerable at every awards show, who once remarked, "I've played so many remarkable women, people are starting to believe that I am one", and (at yet another Awards show), "There are days when even I think I'm overrated; BUT... NOT TODAY!! " She has no concept of humility or humanity, and it doesn't get more disgustingly egocentric than Miss "MS". The best Oscar speeches are Rita Moreno, Julie Christie, and Joe Pesci, who all got on and off stage with their respective awards within two minutes or less. Did Melissa Leo ever work again?

Will Smith was and is a disgrace for what he did to Chris Rock. He should have been arrested for assault and battery. The fact that he was allowed to stay for the rest of the ceremony and accept that Oscar is a blight on the entire Academy. And to only get a slap on the wrist with a 10 year ban was a joke. Okay, he deserved the Oscar I guess,( I didn't see the movie he was in and won't ever now) but he should have been banned by the Academy for life for behaving like an uncivilized and abusive lunatic.
