These are the WORST parents from animated shows! For this list, we’re looking at some of the most neglectful, abusive, controlling, and just plain idiotic parents on the small screen -and the negative influence they’ve had on their children. Our list includes parents from shows such as The Fairly OddParents, Family Guy, Hey Arnold, South Park, American Dad, and more. We’re limiting it to cases where BOTH parents are horrible at their jobs, since we’ve already done lists for both cartoon moms and dads. They actually praised Dr. Doofensmirtz on that entry for being a better parent than his parents. They criticized Doofensmirtz's parents on THEIR bad parenting. They really should have listed the entry as "#5 Dr Heinz Doofensmirtz's parents (Phineas and Ferb)."

In truth Fry's brother was probably the nicest member of Fry's family despite his jealousy. He didn't stop loving Fry and named his son after him.

Apparently he actually did have a good childhood until he was 8 and his parents pulled a really hard prank on him (making him think they were leaving him home alone while they went to travel around the world), leading to him calling Vicky himself. Yeah. And after she proves to be the vilest nanny ever, he has to endure one full year of abuse until he gets his oddparents. So it actually blows my mind even more how they went from good parents to "worst cartoon parents ever" in just one year...

The turner parents are bad but not the worst parents, because they do care about timmy and only are too stupid to realize that he is getting abused by vicky. For example, in one episode where the parents gain superpowers, because of one of timmy’s wish, they give them up by the time as timmy is taken as hostage.

This may be controversial, but...I think Linda Flynn and Lawrence Fletcher may also be bad parents. This is so hard for me to say, but I will do it anyway. 😭 They are kind parents who have a healthy relationship with their kids, and that makes them the best host family for Perry the Platypus. They are the nicest family in Danville, but there is one small detail, just one small but important detail that makes me question their parenting skills. *Candace.* They leave Candace in charge conditionally of her brothers every day, and Linda either does not care what Candace has to say about her sons doing something potentially dangerous, or she knows that Candace is crazy for acting like fun and creative things are a punishable offense and does nothing to solve it. Sometimes Lawrence sees what they are doing, like It's a Mud Mud Mud Mud World and Picture This, but he doesn't care that they are doing something dangerous either. It gets even worse when Caroline Rhea said on Twitter "I just wanted to let you know as an actress that I personally felt Linda Flynn-Fletcher knew what was going on the whole time." which means that Linda only pretends to not believe Candace because she never wanted to bust Phineas and Ferb. I don't think Candace's parents are anywhere near as bad as Dr. Doofenshmirtz's parents; she never got forced to throw her own surprise party and they don't practice favoritism, but it is still jarring to see how deconstructing the formula of the series can make genuinely nice characters seem worse than you originally thought. Heinz is an great dad. He does everything for his daughter-the only "bad" thing he did was try to push her into the evil business, but even that is more of a joke, and it dissipated in later episodes. He even gave up being the Tri-Governor just so Vanessa could get an OWCA apprenticeship (heck, he gave up being evil to let her do so). He also spent years trying to find a doll that his daughter wanted when she was a child.

That's right! I've been a big fan of that show for a decade now, and while Heinz is a good dad to Vanessa, his parents are bad for him, which is why THEY, and not HIM, should be on the list, therefore, replacing him!

I knew Mr. and Mrs. Turner from Fairly Oddparents would be number 1! I know some choices are probably worse, but the Turners are just bad parents in almost every sense of the word! They hire Vicky, who is the worst babysitter ever, they neglect Timmy in almost every chance they get, Timmy was given a horribly functioning bike that had cow crap as a sit by his dad, and I’m sure that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Heck, in one episode, Timmy’s dad said his dreams were shattered years ago and Timmy ask “How many years ago?” The response from Dad was “How old are you?” If that isn’t a sign that they’re bad parents, especially the dad, I don’t know what will. I love Fairly Oddparents, but Timmy’s parents are indeed nit wicks!

@Cecilio Mendoza have you seen the show? Neither of them are half as bad as the rest of the people on this list. Nicole is tries to be reasonable but due to the kids either doing something absolutely stupid, reckless, or just insane she is usually angry and controlling. Despite this she has saved her kids life more than once while risking her own. Richard maybe lazy and dumb but he actually tries he’s just literally incapable of being responsible. When he actually got a job it was literally shifting the balance of the natural order and was breaking reality. In one episode it showed that if he didn’t stay home all the time to take care of the kids they would be uncontrollable savage monsters. They’re not perfect but neither one of them is abusive as the others of this list. Out of every person on this list they’re probably the closest to healthy relationship with their kids.

In one episode, Timmy's parents said that they wished they never had a son, which led Timmy to run away from home. That shows how terrible Timmy's parents are. Edit: It’s been a while since I’ve seen that episode, so it might have been out of context according to a comment. They are still neglectful parents nonetheless.

These are perfect examples of how anyone can be a "mother" or "father". It take a special kind of person to be a Mom or Dad. Mother/Father: the female/male that contributes to your DNA. Mom/Dad: the person/persons who: -Teaches you; manners, how to ride a bike, right from wrong, how to drive, that there are consequences to your actions, exet. -Shows you how: to act, treat others, solve conflicts or problems, exet. Finaly: No Mater What Happens: they care for and about you. Even when you are sick, when you are hurt, when you get in trouble, when you lie. These are the hallmarks of true Moms and Dads. And I thank God that i have two such people in my life.

I'm surprised that Pacifica's parents from Gravity Falls weren't listed here. Despite the fact that Pacifica is a rich spoiled rotten brat, she's mainly like that because of her parents want her to maintain their family's image of perfection (even though their not). Um y'all have to remember that up until he was eight his parents were with him 24/7 and Mrs. Turner wanted a break from Timmy for a while. Self care is pretty much important so you can't blame them for spending a lot of time out of the house. They wouldn't intentionally leave Timmy with Vickie if they knew she was evil, but pretty much all the parents in Dimmsdale are oblivious and think she's a good babysitter. If you STILL think they're the worst, look at Remy's parents. They don't care AT ALL which is why he's a horrible, spoiled child.

Oh, my God, THANK YOU so much for adding Bob and Miriam Pataki in this video; that made me SO happy! Hey Arnold! has always been one of my favorite cartoons, partially for its portrayal of realism, and the dysfunction of the Pataki is definitely part of that realism. Big Bob is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, assholes in the history of cartoon parents. It's not just because he shows nothing but praise and love for Olga while completely ignoring and forgetting about Helga, but he's just an ass to pretty much everyone else, especially Arnold and his family. He went too far with his competitive nature when he called Arnold an orphan at the tournament, just because he didn't want to lose to a boy who had his grandparents with him rather than his real parents. How wrong was Bob about Arnold, because now we have The Jungle Movie, and Miles and Stella are alive and well! I would kill to have a sixth season of the show, especially with a new Parents Day episode, because I want to see just how much more of a jackass Bob could be to Arnold, even with the latter's parents present! There's no doubt in my mind that Miles and Stella would not get along with Bob, and probably not even with Miriam and Olga, too. But Helga? They would definitely welcome her and treat her like the daughter they never had, and I think Helga would definitely become close with Miles and Stella...especially because she would be dating Arnold. :)

Very well said, & I agree with everything, except that Miles & Stella wouldn't get along with Olga. I think they'd feel sorry for her, & realize that her being overly cheerful & a perfectionist is a defense mechanism for dealing with all the bullshit that her parents cause. Arnold & Helga would be incredible parents when they have kids. They'd do everything to make sure that those kids don't feel the pain & loneliness that they did. (Meanwhile, Olga will probably marry some loser, & try to force her kids to be the straight A perfectionists that she was.)

Bob and Lynda from Bob's burgers. As crazy as they can get have you ever seen them be abusive or agressive to their kids? Think about Lynda usually goes over the top trying to bond with her kids not ingore them. Greg and the Crystal gems. Ok so the gems even after spending 5000 years on Earth know very very little about how humans work and the needs of them. But that's what Greg is therefore and while he doesn't live with the gems it's heavily shown that he is still a constant in his son's life. He is always there for his son and loves him so much. He's also not a pushover and isn't past disaplining his son when it's deserved. If you want to find good parents though I'd look to some anime because there is so good ones there.

@Cecilio Mendoza Have you seen the show? Did you even watch past the first three episodes? Neither of them are half as bad as the rest of the people on this list. Nicole is tries to be reasonable but due to the kids either doing something absolutely stupid, reckless, or just insane she is usually angry and controlling. Despite this she has saved her kids life more than once while risking her own. Richard maybe lazy and dumb but he actually tries he’s just literally incapable of being responsible. When he actually got a job it was literally shifting the balance of the natural order and was breaking reality. In one episode it showed that if he didn’t stay home all the time to take care of the kids they would be uncontrollable savage monsters. They’re not perfect but neither one of them is abusive as the others of this list. Out of every person on this list they’re probably the closest to healthy relationship with their kids. If you think otherwise you’re either dumb or don’t watch the show enough

Glad the Turners made the top of the list, they don't even try to be good parents. Remember when Vicky's family came to stay after their house burned down so Timmy was kicked out of the house to make room for them? And how he had to stay in a dog house instead of the pre-existing tree house? And was kept on a leash and had food given to him in a dog bowl? And how everyone then took that food from him before he could eat it, INCLUDING Timmy's parents? Yeah... good times.

I mean the parents there spend way too much time away from their kids considering the fact that they get hurt on a near daily basis and trouble is never dished out unless it's offscreen. I personally find the parents from the Mindy and Buttons shorts in animainacs to be worst parents. They leave their daughter alone for long periods and expect Buttons the family dog to watch her instead of hiring a baby sitter. But they're gone for long periods of time, which as a result, has caused Mindy to call her mom Lady and dad Mister. They don't even give poor Buttons respect and only blame him for messes he didn't even make.

btamamura I think the Turners should’ve been number 2 and the Griffins number 1 because they’re both horrible, but in the end the Griffins are worse. Lois makes her kids feel small and insignificant, and blames them for her own misdoings. Peter straight up abuses his kids, drugs them and mentally abuses them. Yes, the Turners are horrible parents and always have been, but they’ve never intentionally hurt Timmy physically or have any sort of goal to make him unhappy. They are stupid, neglectful parents and should be arrested, but the Griffins are worse in the end

And in the episode where Fry fell through the ice, at the end of the episode his dad admits that the reason he's so hard on him is because he wants to make sure Fry grows up strong, and will therefore be able to overcome any adversities the future may hold. So while his methods are sometimes a tad rough or harmful, he at least has good motive. He comes off as the kind of father you'd hate having growing up, but would then appreciate once grown up when the harsh parenting finally pays off.

gurvmlk not really. Every time goku tried to do something with gohan or goten she would intervene and force them to study instead (even when the fate of the world was at stake)

Dr. Doofenshmirtz is a great dad. His parents “raised” him horribly, but look at how he treats his daughter. He could’ve taken out his frustrations on her, but instead, he searched for years to find her the doll she wanted when she was five, got stung by bees to protect her and her friends, and so much more stuff

Zuko's mother left because Zuko's poor excuse of a father wanted to take the throne, but Zuko's grandfather would only let that happen if Zuko was killed. To prevent this, Zuko's mom was exiled and she did this voluntarily.

Heinz and Charlene Doofenshmirtz are great parents! I know they're divorced but yet they love and care about Vanessa. This video is more likely referring to Doof's parents tho... but they were never mentioned by name... But reading Heinz and Charlene there just makes me a bit sick pfff

I agree for Nicole's parents and Frankie,but Jojo isn't abusive,cares for her son and loves him- she's just extremely over-protective and sure that her way is the right and the only way to raise a child,and while she isn't great,putting her on the "top 10 worst cartoon parents" is very exaggerated.
