Happy New Year Mandy. To celebrate I bought a cluster of horror movies for the most part I have not seen. I got Terrifier 1 & 2, Life with Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds. A shark movie called maneater which I am watching right now. And underwater with Kristen Stewart. And I'm going to binge them until I fall asleep have a good holiday I look forward to your next video.
Pearl, was my favorite horror movie. Mia, to me gave the best acting performance of the year. Did you watch Pearl? Resurrection, was acted so well. That ending of Speak No Evil, was a gut punch. Barbarian, I was surprised what direction it went into. Smile, was way better then I thought it would be. That smile was so creepy lol. 2022 was a great year for horror!
I was absolutely blown away by how relentless and depraved and gore filled that The Sadness packed! Hands down it was my favorite horror of the year. Also Project Wolf Hunter was bad ass, it’s more hardcore action than horror but it’s definitely worth a watch!
Your channel is my go to for horror movie recommendations. Seriously, I never miss an episode. I hope you'll be doing Horror in 24 again next year. I always look forward to that. And also, I dig your Velma sweater. I have a Freddy one in my closet somewhere. I bought it without realizing what it was at first. My love for horror just permeates through everything I guess.
Thank you!! And lol when I put the shirt on I felt like Velma, so that’s funny. I’m going to try to still participate in horror in 24 in 2023. I may not read every book, but I still wanna participate!
black phone needs more love because people either aren't mentioning it, or if they are they're calling it middle of the road, filled with plot holes and cliches. when that couldn't be farther from the truth. it's a fantastic film with likable leads and some high stakes for the main kid. scott derrickson puts you in the room with the kid, and you feel the danger with him and hopes he gets out alive.
❤your list, here's mine top 5: 1 - Barbarian - Justin Long's character was a superbly done asshole on screen and I've got the same polo shirt 2 - Smile - Sosie Bacon was killing it, very well done movie that creeped me out 3 - Fresh - Loved Sebastian Stan in this 4 - Moloch - This Dutch gem flew for many under the radar, shocked that this movie isn't more talked about 5 - The Black Phone - Loved it, well done, made by a great team I also liked "They Live in the Grey", deliberate held on low pace, is worth checking out
My top 5 theatrical releases (INPO) 1.The Cursed 2. X/Pearl 3.Watcher 4.Terrifier 2 5. Smile Most Disappointing - Halloween Ends, Crimes of the Future Most underwhelming - The Black Phone Do a Worst Of 2022 next!!
The Cursed was great. Loved that ending. The thing that surprised me about Smile was the style and that dark tone it maintained throughout the entire movie. It was just a soul crusher. Concerning Barbarian... if I hadn't heard the hype ahead of time about how crazy it was, I probably would have liked it more.
Can't believe I missed Deadware! Thanks Mandy, I'd forgotten about it and it's even on Tubi right now. Fixing that today. Alright, current top 5: 1. Watcher 2. Barbarian 3. Smile 4. Nope 5. Prey Deadstream is fantastic too, easy #6 for me.
Hi Mandy. Loved your hilarious commentary and suggestions and I agree with some. I actually am about to watch the Watcher lol. My favorites were X and Smile. Resurrection was well acted but not scary to me at all. I was not impressed by Barbarian though I liked the beginning and I hated Nope but it was beautifully made I really liked the cinematography but didn’t dig the story at all. I’m looking forward to more exciting movies in 2023 for sure😉🙌💕
Thanks for so many unique choices! You avoided the same old popular ones. Can't blame you for the paranoia. I won't even get on another's car. 🙃 I'm disabled so folks often ask if I need a ride when I walk. Too many creeps in the world. Bought the Smile Blu-ray and it is scarier with each revisit. 🖤 Barbarian! Sat in the cinema thinking I had it figured out three times then it swerved. Always enjoy your channel. Happy New Year!
Just subscribed. Mainly because your number 1 is my number 1 lol. Barbarian is honestly my new benchmark film to determine if a horror review RU-vid channel is for me. I just loved how a b movie plot could be “elevated” in how it was made and performed. I’m a fan of both so bad it’s good shlock and “elevated” commentary films, and I thought Barbarian did both seamlessly. My other tops were: 2. Scream 3. The Black Phone 4. Pearl (and X) 5. Deadstream
I absolutely loved Barbarian. I thought Deadstream had Evil Dead vibes. Enjoyed Smile but it was a little over hyped. Really looking forward to seeing The Cursed and the new Scream!
A huge thank you for your channel in 2022. The post contents have been brilliant. I hope that 2023 will see your channel go from strength to strength. Have a very happy new year and may it be a healthy and prosperous one 😉😘
I can't real think of any slow year for horror to be honest I've done a top horror list for every year going back to 2015 and there has never been a year that had less than 30 horror movies that I enjoyed
I actually watched this the other day and it was really disturbing! I only heard about it the other day, so I think it flew under a lot of people’s radar.
Technically a 2021 film, but since it wasn't released in the US until this year I'm going to say She Will was probably my favorite. Another 2021 film I didn't see until this year that really stuck with me is The Feast. Barbarian was surprisingly enjoyable viewing for me and I also enjoyed Nope and You Are Not my Mother, so there's my quick top 5.
17:30 Really wish people would stop using the phrase "toxic masculinity". I had s friend who fell in love with a woman but she never felt the same. She took advantage of his money, his time, his energy (she made him drive 3 hours in the middle of the night to help change her tire while she was on her way to sleep with another guy we later found out), made him buy her a car, etc later left him and kept his house and left him on the streets. He committed suicide that same month. What's odd is we never hear the term "toxic femininity" when it comes to toxic females. Maybe we should just stick to using the term "toxic people", because to suggest toxicity is an exclusive male characteristic is beyond discriminatory, hateful, deceptive, dishonest, misandrist, and beyond disgusting.
The Cursed was fantastic. For series I would say Cabinet of Curiosities, Black Mass, and of course Stranger Things. Also special mention to Violent Night.
You do got a very interesting top 10 the only movie that is the same is Barbarian that seems to be every horror fan top movie of the year well that or X or Pearl
I mut say, I really liked "Willy's Wonderland". Nicholas Cage is the star and he doesn't say one single word in the entire movie. Premise may seem a little silly, but it's also very dark and twisted. "X" was also good and I've learned to really like Brittany Snow. "Smile" was one of those where after I watched it again, I really loved it. "Watcher" did zero for me.
Very good year for found footage. Piggy had so much potential but they went another direction with it. Absolutely loved Incantation but Smile is my favorite for this year. I think The Sadness is underrated, more people need to watch it but it's extremely gory so it might not be for every one.
