3:00 The huge grin on that Haradrim horn blower's face is like he's been waiting for this moment for his entire life. I know we're supposed to root for the good guys, but that shot is just so badass.
The harmonising of the horns of the Rohirrim with the score when Theoden calls the charge is just incredible. The thrill it sends through you on the first watch is like nothing I've ever experienced in a film.
there can be no denying that 1:50 this scene is absolutely incredible and by far the best horns imo. The way the horns harmonise is just so incredibly powerful
The Horn of Helm is incredibly powerful and deep, it feels the entire territory of Rohan can hear it and even Isengard. Also, did anyone notice that the Rhûn's horn sounds like the evil form of Rohan's horn.
yeah I remember going to theaters with my father to watch these. and not sure why but totally gave me goosebumps too, maybe cause it's so badass and I wish I could do that lol. def brings a tear though.
The Haradrim horn is just......chilling and wonderful and I love it. I especially love how at the end it has those two notes that are kind of 'off' and that just makes it even better. When I hear it I want to grab my bow/arrows, braid my hair, and find my war band. In my opinion he Horn of Helm Hammerhand should have been #2 though. Every time I hear it I feel like it resonates bone-deep. Love it!
+heywaitMarlee I could listen to it for days... and the warchant with it... It is still giving me the chills even after the 100th time I'm listening it. So powerful, exotic, scary, unknown and mighty.
I damn near broke the rewind button on my old VHS player listening to the Haradrim's arrival over and over and goddamn over again. Its so freaking awesome, as is the chanting that happens afterwards.
You can feel the power of “tens of thousands” when you hear the Isengard horn. Its just too powerfull. But my favorite is Haradrim’s horn. And best part is that ending with 2 switching notes with that dizzy blow. God I wanna grab a bow and ride an elephant.
1:26 my personal favorite battle horn. Me when i want to signal my all RED Team to defend me after taking control of the BLU Team's control point when I play as Jane Doe Soldier in Team Fortress 2 while Mr Ludwig Medic has the Kritzkrieg for assistance.
Nah it makes you charge into a like 150:1 outnumbered situation screaming for death and win easily........ Until the horn of the men of the far Harad sounds......
@@zipflik7887 Theodin and rohiram were actually way lesser in numbers at the siege of Gondor, yet still fought courageously against the Haradrim. Gondor did not aid Rohan but Theodin rode to their aid regardless, when he arrived to pelenor fields there was stench of death, burning, agony and despair in the air and he somehow found motivation in that, thus turned his fear into courage and when he charged no one could outpace him or reach him, not even the knights of his own house, also there are only two individuals that are described to be ferocious riders who strike fear in the hearts of their enemies much like Urome the god of old. One is Fingolfin and the other is no other than Theodin king, he fought till the very end and fought against a foe that was way stronger than himself. Much like Fingolfin who fought the fallen Vala Melkor. They are immortalized in songs and poems, can you say the same about the Haradrim?
I dont care what anyone says, the horn of the Rohirrim is my favorite. Stuff's glorious, and gives me chills and goosebumps every single time. I feel invincible whenever I hear the sounds of Rohan's horns
The riders of Rohan scene. Theodens speech. All the horns blowing in unison. At that point in the film I feel ready to ride for ruin and the world ending. DEATH! Anyone who disagrees is a maggot who should be forming ranks.
Setting aside my contempt for the Hobbit movies, I'm actually surprised to find that I dislike the sound design of the horns they featured. I enjoy the variance in the LotR horns, most especially the Haradrim's. Rohan coming in second imo. The Haradrim's horn however is chilling. The ominous tone, and the two sour kind of notes on the end of it. I love it. New text tone.
@@thewarlord9279 nonsense. Dol Amroth is a part of the Kingdom of Gondor, you clearly do not understand medieval system. It like saying Texas is not part of USA. Or that York was not part of Kingdom of England cause king out there someone to rule in his name (vassal)
I knew an old man once that lived in the rockies in Colorado. He was obsessed with horns, i don't know if he had ever watched LOTR but he had a custom horn built that ran off air pressure, it sounded identical to the Erebor horn. He lived in a cabin on a mountain peak, about 5 miles from a small town and every morning at 6 he would get up and blow this horn. People in the town could hear it no problem as it drifted down to them and echoed across the mountain top. I heard later the guy who built the horn was from Switzerland and he used two alpine horns, and addedextra tubing. He actually called it the horn of Erebor. He supposedly was the one that made the horn sounds for the LOTR series although i have not confirmed it
I was getting nervous lol the haradrim leaders horn was my favorite from when I saw it.. talk about a badass backstory behind how you became the leader of all these men and your own war elephant!! Wish we coulda seen more of them but still great!
I knew before even watching this that the Haradrim horn had to be #1. By far the best one of all 6 movies. I still remember seeing Return of the King in theaters and getting chills when the Haradrim captain blew that horn and then Theoden ordered the second charge into them. Best movie going experience I ever had by far!
My favourie horn is missing. The horn of Dale announcing Thorins death. Though its not a military horn signal for attack, rally or retreat, but its still wonderful.
Was waiting for this one as well. I love how it's actually playing the Erebor theme from the score, thus making it the only theme that actually exists inside this world as well
The horn of erebor is so majestic! But my favorite is still the horn of Rohan, not necessarily because of the sound itself but because it fits so well into the particular scene. Love how it blends into the soundtrack, such an epic scene!!
You forget one horn, when Bolgs armi leave the Gundabad and when the that armi come on the batle of the five armis. Thst horn is real Gundabad horn. That horn you put like Gundabad is Dol-guldur horn
