CrossCode would have been a great entry here. I'm playing through that one now, and while the story hasn't really pulled me in yet, the pixel art, music, exploration, and combat are all really well-done.

@@betaubtesfaultier3607 I'd argue it has at least as much in common with Zelda as something like Hyper Light Drifter does. It's got a series of dungeons loosely connected by an overworld, an even mix of puzzles and combat, and an emphasis on exploration. The only major difference I've noticed is that in CrossCode you can level up and customize your skill tree, though that really only affects the combat portion.

Bastion's OST was oustanding. Supergiant Games knows how to make you feel the story hard in their games (Transistor and Hades for example) through their music (Become One and In the Blood for more examples). Definitely will check out #1 soon!

Great list! Lots of good games, but I think my favorite (of what I've played) would have to be Lenna's Inception. I thought it would be good but I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Also, I've only played their demos, but Prodigal, Hazelnut Bastille, and Unsighted all seem to have tremendous potential.

I would include 3D Dot Heroes in this list because even though it was made by From Software, it was made before they became truly huge, and it's just an incredible game. Also Hazelnut Basil is worth a mention even though it's still in development because it just looks so gorgeous. Hyperlight Drifter is amazing, but I don't consider it really like Zelda. It shares the semi-isometric perspective and the hack and slash combat, but focuses more on combat and has a different game structure. But if we're defining Zelda-like very loosely, then it's definitely worth a mention just to help spread the word on this fantastic game more.

Hyper Light Drifter always gives me feels. The textless presentation I think is one of its charms, though perhaps the plot is a bit TOO vague? But still, there is a good amount of environmental storytelling if you're willing to pay attention. I remember seeing trailers for Moonlighter when I was first getting into indie games (having only played Cave Story, Journey, HPD, and Hollow Knight) and I couldn't tell what the big fuss was. Years later, I immediately fell in love with it upon seeing it in this video. I also ADORE what I'm seeing of Death's Door. Wish it was on Switch where I do the vast majority of my gaming, but the art direction, graphics, gameplay, and what I'm hearing of the plot are all extremely intriguing. Might pick this up on Steam!

I loved playing through Pine on Steam. Was a fun experience, and it is a very creative and different game. Only drawback was monotone combat and not utilizing the full potential of the game. Hope they make a Pine 2. The music is stunning!!

When I hear pixel art I think of 2 types: 1 being beautifully rendered with bold and vibrant colors accompanied by awesome animations and effects; the 2nd being the primitive and somewhat muddy graphics and boxy character and background art with some effects that are also wanting. I love and prefer the latter and wish this distinction was pointed out more often-

Moonlighter is one of my favorite games i really love shop keeping games and moonlighter is the best imo in term of the freedom of what you want to sell, how much it will cost and random customers picks up what they want depends if they liked the price or not, most of shop keeping games i tried lack of similar features and just go with doing requests and selling them for specific prices set by the game. If you could make a video about shop keeping or Marchant/trader games that would be great.

Hey, can u bring the game "Triglave" here? Is a dark themed rpg game Wich I believe is one of the best, and i love with all of my soul. Ocean Heart should be on this list. It's an overlooked and good game with nice pixel art. haven't tried it yet but maybe Garden Story may be a good entry (not sure how 'Zelda-like' it is though) 2d Zelda clones are my fav indie title. However, I have learnt that procedurally generated dudgeons are not my taste.

Hyper Light Drifter does have text. Not sure why people are so blind. There's text scrawled in places and even a cypher to translate it. People have already posted what it written within the game. It's all backstory.

@@ClemmyGames But the way its played is heavily inspired by classic 2D zelda. You've got isometric action combat, overworld exploration with light metroidvania elements, and elaborate dungeons that absolutely utilize the zelda formula with puzzles, big/small keys, a mini-boss guarding an essential power up that opens up the rest of the dungeon, among other things.

@@ClemmyGames Anyways, it's your list, you can do what you want, but I don't necessarily agree with CrossCodes exclusion when, for example, the likes of Hyper Light Drifter is on the list (fantastic game) when it's essentially devoid of puzzles and proper overworld dungeons.

Either the title misleading or some games don’t have their spot in this list. Some games aren’t really Zelda likes, some others not at all like alttp. Really good titles nonetheless

I mentioned in the intro that some of these are not exactly "zelda-like", was going more along the lines of the top down "action adventure" genre, where the common touchpoint would be zelda
