I miss Spectrobes which were Games on the Nintendo DS that I really enjoyed. Digging for Fossils and a different combat system compared to Pokémon and also the open world made it a great experience for me.
You would not believe how happy I am to see Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered on this list. I got it for my birthday last year and it one of my top favorites ever!
Monster Sanctuary was so great ❤️ I really miss DQ Monsters. I was hoping we would get one as part of the anniversary presentation. I was going ask if Uranium was still around 😅 I never got to try it out. I've been waiting for 1.0 to try Ooblets, and now with the new Steam Deck, it's going to be a blast for mobile.
@@ClemmyGames They are supposed to be working on one. It was in purgatory but in one of the square enix events they said look for one in the future. not to be mistaken with dragon quest treasures. Treasures was going to be the new monsters game but it got changed into an entirely new spinoff
an old game that deservers a mention, Final Fantasy 13-2. it has a lot of focus on monsters! that game actually got me into the monster taming genre and back to rpg`s again after a long period with too many first person shooters etc..
Haven't played most of the games on the list, but Monster Sanctuary is amazing, so wasn't surprised to see it's number one. I wonder if the devs will make a sequel or move onto something else? I'm excited for anything else they make, monster tamer or not.
I grew up playing Pokemon since 97' and always have and do believe it's a genre on it's own. I used to say the usual about games like this being "clones". Now that I opened my eyes and see that these games are in the same genre but they do their own thing. I am currently playing Disc Creatures and having a blast. The two things I wish they did different are better attack animations these are kinda weak and not immersive enough. The other is the whole creatures are burned to the disc as a copy. I just want the creatures to be real like Pokemon not something like a hologram. Anyway still having so much fun and it's a fun game fairly tough which is important for me I love grinding and want the game to be as hard as possible without being impossible. Makes it much more fun than cruising through without a challenge. 10/10 game.
I need to play Monster Rancher for PS1 again. No monster taming game, or just about any game in any genre to my knowledge, has come up with something as creative and fun as Monster Rancher's disc-based monster creation system. Not to mention the wealth of other cool features of that game. There are some really cool looking games on this list though.
This really is a great guide to what to buy. I never would have heard about these games if not for this video. As a PC gamer with a Pokémon itch that needs scratching I thank you /hugz :D
Great list Clemmy :) There are a couple more fan games out there aside from Uranium that are worth checking out like Xenoverse and Phoenix Rising among others.
The of dq monsters: gets released literally two days before Pokemon red and blue which means dq influenced Pokemon and not the other way around This guy: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that
Pokemon was used as a reference point since it's more well known, but don't get me wrong, love DQM as well! However, wikipedia says that the original DQM was released in September 25, 1998 while pokemon red/green was released in japan in February 27, 1996, so I think you gotta check your dates
@@ClemmyGames dq 5 was released in September 1992 which introduced the monster catching mechanic and using them in battle dq definitely influenced pokemon
No Xenoverse? Fan made game but its amazing and its better then Pokemon Uranium and others on this list. Heck, the fan made "Pokemon" in Xenoverse look so good.
