That's a nerf he didn't deserve. I blame shofu for complaining about his as well as so many people thinkinh mac was broken. If he had that old side special he'd be so much better
It's so funny to me, because Sakurai literally went on record not even a month before saying that Mac had the worst FG results of the entire cast. Then they just nerd him more. Sound logic.
I remember when we met on FG in Patch 1.1.3. You used MewTwo, And we had a Best of 3. I lost with Sonic Game 1, then Switched to Falco and won Games 2 and 3. My tag was "Pr3ditah". Good stuff man! Hope we face eachother again!
+Jacob De Leon What Maxim M saying is that Dr. Mario is already bad as it is. Nobody plays him because everybody is playing Mario. He is so much better than Dr. Mario and also have a better neutral and better combos than Dr. Mario. In my opinion I think they should buff Dr. Mario running speed, so he can run a little faster.
Poyo Dose Games it would be support for worse/casual players, but sm4sh already does a ton of that with its disparity of advanced tech. And it would really cripple how fun competitive smash bros is to watch (viewers=money=support for community). And think about it. If everyone survives longer, it's gonna be a more strenuous task to finish a match, making it less fun to play at any level.
Sakurai doesn't like Jigglypuff; why do you think it nearly didn't make it into Brawl (if you look at the files, characters were added as they went along. the campaign also gave hints of when characters were added to the game, as Snake was pretty early since he appeared halfway, and Sonic appeared at the near-end. Toon Link and Jigglypuff were implemented as there was enough time and were inserted as end-game activities instead of part of the official Subspace).
This is why I dislike Nintendo as of late, they've really been ignoring the fans, and because of that, we get games like Color Splash, where Nintendo is so disjointed from their fans, that they think people actually like it.
+My Smash Corner I have a question is fox jab jab up smash really gone? I recall larry lurr saying is still combos just that you have to delay the second jab in his vid.
What about when Little Mac use to do 36% with just jabs? Oh the good ole days. Or when Bowser KO'd you first rather than himself with SIDE-B (Bowsercide)? Oh the bad ole days.
A S H L E Y Might aswell invite Ridley and Barney the Dinosaur if you want Smash to have joke characters. Jigglypuff isn't a joke character at all considering it's been in every iteration of Smash.
Sam Kirb Jigglypuff got in 64 because Jiggly was still a thing back then and can be copied off Kirby. The last 4 in 64 was thrown in at the last second. Hell, Jigglypuff was so close to getting thrown out twice. But since everyone from 64 was staying. Jiggly got lucky. But seriously. Jigglypuff's a joke. The Pokemon is long irrelevant and is not a good Pokemon in it's home game either. Jigglypuff is the perfect candidate to be the worst character in the game. You got nothing legit that says Jigglypuff should be buffed. Except for "Well!! Melee!!!".
1. Puff wasn't buffed. 2. Puff wasn't buffed. 3. Puff wasn't buffed. 4. Puff wasn't buffed. 5. And I don't say that cuz I'm a Puff main, I say taht cuz I'm sad for the Puff mains.
"8 Pac-Mans flying in the stratosphere of hyrule." Wow I can believe you mentioned that I totally forgot because there has been so many patches lately in this game. XD
My list of biggest patches/nerfs in Smash Bros 415: Wario grab release14: Popgun hitstun cancel13: Diddy Grab immunity12: Shiek nerf11: Bayonetta nerf10: Fox double jab combo9: Luigi down throw nerf8: Shadow Sneak cancel7: Meta Knight up air nerf6: ZSS up B knockback nerf5: The Hoo-Hah4: Wario's vectoring/flying glitch3: item toss lag cancel2: shield stun1: DACUSMy Smash Corner, your list was mostly about nerfs, make one about top 15 buffs in Smash 4.
I wasn't into competitive Smash until this game, so I didn't know DACUS was a thing for a while. It looks like it would've been really interesting in this metagame. I know we have jump-cancel up-smash, but it doesn't seem to have nearly as much utility. Also, wasn't the Hoo-hah removed in 1.0.6? I thought 1.0.4 was the version Smash Wii U started at, and I know Hoo-hah was still in there for a little while.
top 5 in no order: Corrin's Counter Luigi's Down Throw Fox's Double Jab Dacus Greninja's Up Air Honorable-ish mentions Bayonetta Hoo-haa Little Mac's infinite combo ? Bowser's Up Throw
+Luis Gavidia I don't think bowser would go that far because using dacus only made the character slide as far as their dash attack would take them. Bowser's dash attack doesn't go that far, so his dacus length would be pretty average.
DACUS seemed to be pretty good though. Well, it shouldn't be available to every char. Sheik for example gets a great kill option with it and she's already Top Tier. But chars like Robin would get great help with that trick.
Obviously biased as an Ike main, but the 1.0.4 Ike changes were some of my biggest patch changes. Ike was still somewhat mediocre even after that patch, until receiving more buffs later down the line, but the man was absolute bottom tier trash before 1.0.4. Every single thing he's known for, he did not have. He lost huge amounts of power behind his moves going from Brawl to 4. His Fair didn't autocancel. His Bair was weaker. He couldn't combo, he couldn't hit hard, it was like the developers had absolutely no idea what to actually do with the character.
A Top 10? That's new! It's cool that all the entries reference advanced techniques and mechanics, which is what MSC videos specialize in. THIS is how to properly grow a channel. Great job.
+Veovis The jab one wasn't a bug, just a really stupid jab cancel. It really sucks that they removed it completely, instead of toning it down to be viable but capable of combating.
Luigiofthegods "bug" isn't the right word, but obviously something unintentional. my point is that it's not like the developers said "oh link's too strong we need to nerf him" like the OP implies. they just fixed exploits that slipped through the cracks. it's to be expected. i mean, they did the same thing with fox and he's a top tier character. now, if they did something like giving link's aerials more landing lag or giving his up-B less height, THAT would be disgusting.
Link also used to be able to smash attack while still holding a bomb (bombsmashing), also patched out! But Link got a good number of buffs too throughout the patches, to his more legit moves.
I pretty much agree with everything, however I think the patch removing Peach's infinite was more noteworthy than the one removing ZSS's infinite, merely because it worked on more than one character.
I still cannot understand why "good" characters are not allowed to keep a 50 50 mixup kill combo whereas "bad" characters are allowed to keep a true hoo hah
Samus' Down throw into Up air strings into Screwattack Zelda's Down throw into Up air or Back air depending on DI Falco's Up throw into Up air those are the only ones that I can think of, although I may be wrong on some of them and although Donkey Kong has Cargo Up throw into Up air, he would be classified as a "good" character/
+Luigiofthegods Actually i think no character should have a true kill combo if it's easy to do, but i have no problem if the setup is hard enough, like falcon landing upair to knee, sheik needles to bouncing fish or bayonetta strings now they got nerfed and much harder to do. But i think every character needs a good mixup kill combo at high percent, which forces you to read airdodge, double jump or aerial attack and allows you to get a deadly punish. Also for examples i think about diddy hoo hah or sheik dthrow to up b or falcon d throw to read to upair whereas palutena, shulk or robin have a true and cheap hoo hah. Also Palutena, bowser and some others have easy jab cancel kill confirms such as jab to upsmash for palutena or jab to down b for bowser, and palutena and zelda have a lot of kill confirm...
It think that the Corrin nerf was pretty big. She had the best counter in the game, and while they fixed its brokenness, the also nerfed a lot more things that Corrin had for no reason at all.
This was mainly about patches fixing broken/overpowered things. There were also many influential patches that buffed characters, such as the patch that improved Mewtwo's run speed, or the patch that gave Bowser a combo throw. How about a Top 10 buffs video?
please don't become a countdown channel. this was an awesome video, but I'm always excited when you upload because it's always am amazing tech or tutorial. I don't mind if this is extra but don't let these countdowns take from the other videos.
The patch that changed link's jab was the biggest for me. I never used the infinite, but the jab could true combo into smash attacks. Now it is just a mix up.
A nerf that went under the radar was DK's side B. It used to break shields in one hit meaning he could actually intimidate opponents with a shield break if he is hanging off the ledge so they would be forced to give him space. Nowadays he can't break it in one hit and is forever on the edge with no option other than regular get up or jump.
"More lame" Found Melee elitists. Get over it. Vectoring slowed the game down. Who really cares about DACUS? It's likely to return anyways. Nobody wanted to put up with Hoo Hah's bs. Smash 4 was STEREOTYPED because of all this pre-patched madness.
+Peridot The Former Homeworld Clod (Peri Senpai) most of my brawl homies hated smash 4 for its lack of anything, they even admit that while altho brawl had little tech, the tech it did have was fun to them, all the cool stuff that was in it and then got removed like DACUS
***** I feel like the vectoring and sheild stun were good changes. What I don't like is when they patches a glitch or exploit that added tech to the game. DACUS and no landing lag on aerials would be great examples.
Most influential for me here from least to most: The bayonetta nerf (i only really started playing her seriously after the nerf) Mewtwo buffs Corrin nerfs (run speed decrease, damage lowered) Fox jab nerf (my current main, and has been since like December 2014) Greninja nerfs (my main when I picked up the game, all the changes to him made him feel totally different to me and I ended up dropping him, only picking him up again like 2 months ago)
Being that he is my main, Dark Pit Electroshock arm buff. Before, it would send the opponent directly into the upper corner making it very difficult to take a stock with it. After, they lowered the angle making it a guaranteed KO off the side of the stage for most characters above 90% if you manage to get them to the edge of the stage closest to the boundary. Its not broken by any means (start up and end lag are horrendous) but using it as a mix up makes it a very powerful addition to DP's kit.
This video makes me proud of being a part of this community since day 1. We are a year and a half into the game already and all the things that happened in the middle made this a more aventurous and enjoyable trip. Great video btw!
I watched this video just now to take a trip down memory lane and recall my origins as a Smash player. What a trip it was, holy crap dude. Smash 4 was far from perfect but it will always be one of the most treasured games in the world to me. I wouldn't be where I am without it.
5: Bayonetta Nerf 4: Shadow Sneak Cancel Patch 3: DACUS Removal 2: Chain Grab Removal 1: Meta Knight being fixed. (1 and 2 were changes from Brawl to 4, on my list here.)
I think meta knight up air juggle to up b kill at like 20% being patched out was pretty big. Made him drop several places in many tier lists for the game.
The biggest patch, for me, is Toon Link, from Brawl to Smash 4. He was way lighter and could bounce on opponent using Down-B. The positive thing added to Smash 4 is that he is invisible to his bombs' explosion if they touch an opponent!
Bayonetta, Hoo-Hah, Robin's Dthrow buff, Robin's Jab "buff" (increasing knockback on the first 2 hits essentially making all hits of the wind version very rarely connect) and Marth's jab buff.
I remember always going to Smash Run and purposefully throwing a Bob-omb at myself then Wectoring across the map. You'd be surprised by how much distance you could cover, especially vertically. Ahhhh memories lol.
A little extra for Number 7 They also nerfed how much damage G&W's bucket would do if he got it from teammates. (This was also applied to villager's pocket move)
Honestly they really shouldn't patch the multiple players with one controller (normally known as 8 players with one controller) glitch since I think it can be used in some useful ways. I saw someone make a even make a bunch of Kirbys dancing to the smash theme with the glitch. Basically, they shouldn't patch it, anyone else? Also, if you're wondering, this is how you do it: (ONLY WORKS ON WII U, I THINK) What you need: - a controller other than the Wii U (example: wii remote) - either 1-7 amiibos (depending on how many characters you want to control. 1=2 players, 7=8 players How to do it: (I'm using the glitch with 2 players as an example) Step one: move controller up so that its in the battle as player 1. Remember, you shouldn't be doing anything on the Wii U, just the controller. Step two: turn player 1 to 'none', but it's hand is still in the battle. Step three: depending on what controller you have, the thing you need to do will be different. If you have a Wii remote: take out one of the batteries, so it's not connected to the Wii U anymore. DO NOT press the power button, since that will just turn off both the Wii remote and the Wii U. If you have a Game Cube controller: plug out the adapter. Step four: put your one Amiibo in the game. If you did the first steps correctly, it should be player 1 and there's no player 1 hand. Step five: put the battery back in or plug the adapter back in, move up and you should be player 2. Step six: click time, stock, or coins (depending on which mode you're on) and you'll see the rules. You don't need to do anything, so just go back with B. Step seven: and there you go! Change the Amiibo to player 1 so you can control it. Step eight: if you only see the character health on the Wii U screen (which you should), turn on the TV and you'll see the characters.
I just want to say that your work is AMAZING. Thanks for all the detailed data. I wonder how much time you spend in editing these videos. My sincerest thanks, and keep up the good work!!
I kinda wish they kept the Greninja Shadow Sneak thing, and made it somewhat of a technique that you can cancel ANY move or attack with it, HOWEVER, it's slightly slower, does less damage and more end lag when done to escape.
