Agree. He had Gary anderson as his manager starting in the pros and I have Gary as the best throw in the game just now. Bully boy is rite up there but the way Gary anderson releases the dart it is just so smooth to watch.
Smiths Throw is way more complicated then it look, huge spread on the fingers that transitions to a Gary Anderson style release, sexy throw. (Also walks on last dart which isn’t optional, but not a game breaker
They’re all fantastic throws and when you see how successful everyone of these players have been it kinda proves that when you have the fundamentals right you can be very good. For me personally it’s a toss up between RVB, Dimi and John Lowe. Making the grip, throw and release as uncomplicated as possible is what I’ve always strived for. Great video 👍🏻🎯
Thank you! 😊 and I agree, keeping it simple makes it easier to replicate and if you want consistency in your scores you need consistency in your action 😀
I started playing 45 years ago and stopped after 10 years due to work commitments, had the odd flurry back to darts over the last 35 years but I couldn’t ever get back to the quality of darts I used to play. Been back just over a year now and I’ve started from scratch, new everything. Still a bit frustrating but I’ll persevere because as I want to improve. Keep up the great videos 👍🏻🎯
@@WeeIslay I feel you hardship, I am right handed but got Dartitis at the age of 19. Took me a year to let them go and when I did I injured my arm. I cant play right handed for more that 5 minutes without pain. Since then I started playing left handed. Took me 3yrs before I was good enough to play pub darts. Now I still play left hand but throw 80 average, been undefeated in my local league for over 3yrs. 😃 Singles and doubles. Always remember champions aren't made on the big stage. They are forged on the practice bord. You decid how good you can become. 🏆
It’s certainly very impressive what you’ve done changing from right to left. That’s perseverance and determination that’s got you to the level you’re now playing at. I’m just starting to get more regular into the 60 averages but it’s a bit of a struggle at times. I think you have to have to be really focused all the time and make every dart count. I do have goals but I’m not as hard on myself as I was, just due to the fact I’m learning all over again. I do get impatient at times though. Well done on your achievements so far, I’m sure there’s much more to come 👍🏻🎯
@@WeeIslay good 👍 it's important not to be to hard on your self. Always work on improving your C not your A game. I also struggle to consent every throw unless I'm under pressure. 😀
My two faves are Barney and The Count but if I had to take one overall it's The Count Ted Hankey. His throw is incredibly fun to watch it's so good when he's relaxed and nailing everything.
Hankey and RVB throws are so similair when you look closely how they wind up and everything. I think Hankey is a little more tense in his arm than RVB but both so satisfying to look at.
It's ironic. MVG possibly the greatest talent the game has ever seen but so many can't replicate his throw. That's the great thing about darts - every throw is unique.
I grew up in the same village as Leighton Rees , Ynysybwl , and as young teenagers we would often play him at one of the local clubs “The Bomb”....they were a lot less strict about allowing underaged kids into the pubs and clubs back then. I played him once 301 double in , double out and I got off the mark first dart and he couldn’t get his “off” so I roared ahead and got onto my double-out before he had even got his first double . However I then struggled with my “out” and once he started he was soon on my back and whipped my arse. So nearly , but so far away , I never came that close to beating him again.
Iv spoken to Steve a few times in the past. Really nice guy and possibly my favourite ever I am currently in the process of trying to arranging an interview with him for next month or maybe July time. Keep an eye out :)
Beaton is so likeable, but these days he throws as if he doesn't really care if it goes in or not. It's smooth but almost careless. I have the same issue with Michael Smith. He doesn't really give himself a chance to aim properly, especially on his third dart which is almost always rushed. This leads to a lot of needless misses on doubles, especially when he's moving from one side of the board to the other.
What do you think of Gerwin Price his throw? It looks very fluid and controlled IMO, but I am not an expert at all. Also Dimitri Van Den Bergh is fenomenal! The most beautiful throw of them all!
I have done a full throw analysis on both Price and DVB check them out. Links are below. I have added a pro player throw analysis playlist on my channel with many more playrs including MVG, Smith and Wright as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mcK9ToWHPz8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9tsuBAMyO4U.html
Iv subscribed liked and left a comment. I'll put the bell on 2...I know nothing about darts...but I could listen to you talk all day Pooley bei. Such a gent. X
I maybe should have put Lewis in, Anderson would be in but it's so difficult to replicate him. I agree he definitely has one of the best throws though and I love watching all the players you mentioned to be fair. :)
O'Shea and Rees have that Mardle turn. And they still deliver that dart very true. Brilliant stuff. I don't actually think Wade has that great of a throw. I'd have swapped it with Lewis.
Peter Wright, Gary Anderson, Paul Lim and Peter Wright are some of my favorite throws! My favorite player is mr. Snakebyte, but I think Paul Lim has the most amazing throw I have ever seen!
This is education. You got eye for technical stuff that's really important for beginners man.. these kind of videos help a beginner to get into right habits.. because only the right habits, later on, becomes a natural throw. Thanks
Mostly I would agree with the list but I would remove G. Durrant as well as J. Wade. Glen lowers his elbow a bit before his throw and J. Wade's looks like he also pulls rubber expander or dart weights kilograms not grams :) . On the other hand RvB has the best or definitely one of the best...
@@DunoPi32 it's a player development channel, the tital says players to replicate. I would suggest try to replicate a different and all nautral throw to beginners because it wouldn't help develop them.
@@Straightdarts Gary has a nice throw. I tried to copy it but your correct not easy and I gave up. lol The gentleman might his fan blinders on and reasoning maybe out of the question. Ted Hanky has the smoothest darts throw I have ever seen.
If you're going to have Wolfie in there, you should have chizzy, jockey and Richie Burnett also.. love all their throws and are relatable because they are flawed... Peter wright deserves a mention John Lowe really did have a beautiful action
@@lbreindl6 definitely, he lean right in. It's a young man's throw for sure. I'd have a real bad back if I did that. Can't imagine he will be doing that when he is older 😄
This list was best players to replicate and he is such a one off, iv never seen anyone else play well whilst trying to throw like him. I agree his throw was incredible though. 👍
I did explain I'm my Gary Anderson video I made as to why he wasn't included. It's not that his throw isn't incredible it's just so difficult to replicate. :)
It's not Players with the best throw, it's players to replicate, not many can get consistent throw as fast and natural as Lewis, if it was best throws I'd put Lewis, Anderson and Smith in it. :)
Taylor was amazing but I simply can't understand how he does it with that throw. I've tried to replicate it but it's god awful for me at least haha, I don't seem to get any force behind it
To all the younger generation out there the best throwing action belongs to John Lowe, and if he was in his prime today on the easier boards he would wipe the floor with everyone
Within the skull resides the instrument whereby we all judge the outside world. Our brains, eyes and a good piece of our nervous systems are there. It's absolutely imperative that that part of the body remains perfectly still. The best shooters from this list all have minimal motion from the neck up as a primary part of their shooting styles. I'm a bit surprised to not see Peter Wright or Gary Anderson on this list. They both have flawless throwing styles in my opinion.
i just rewatched this remembering i already watch it last 3 years ago, I remembered Cross-Dominant is a thing, this really helped me back then being cross-dominant meaning Eye Dominant and Throwing hand opposite
I used to throw like Gary Anderson, then I had to change that when I had to start wearing glasses, then I started throwing like Glen Durrant, and now I throw like James Wade. I change my stance as well. I do practice occasionally, and I do sometimes get good scores.
MvG should be on any list about naturally smooth and highly affective throwing styles. His eyes and head are completely still and locked on target and his lower arm does all the work. Also in my opinion (and many others opinion as well) the most beautiful natural and silky smooth throw in history of the game is Raymond van Barneveld. Second most beautiful would be the Bronzed Adonis throw.
Its not the best to watch or replicate though. He learn forward so fair he has to throw further away from the T20. Very straight throw but definitely a young man's style I my opinion. I can't see him throw like that when he is in his 40s.
"THE COUNT" Ted Hankey. Used to love watching him play. So many great players with lovely simple throw. I've got two favourites, John Lowe & Martin Adams. Great blokes too
You say that Van Den Bergh has the most perfect throw, in that case, if I'm being COMPLETELY honest, I'd have thrown Alan Warriner in there, genuinely, it looks like the most basic throw ever, which is why it's so perfect, he used very basic darts too, almost like a template for any darts player
I think its a shame to not even mention Gary Anderson in such a video. I dont even think its about opinion at this point.. his throw is widely considered as the best throw from a technical standpoint.
Yes, but its not easy to replicate at all. So much gose on with the grip and its ver front on. 😳 I agree his throw is incredible, though. Made a video on it before: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kb9KrDbKLts.html
Taylor has said this as well when asked about nice throwing actions. But in the UK open (in 2012 I believe) when ask by speedy services in an interview "if you could have any players throw who would it be?" He mentions Lowe but decided on Leighton Rees.
I am a former national championship silver medal winner.. Trust me, most dart players, only move their arms from the elbow and down when throwing darts, the reason for this is because that's how we get most precision and aim into our throws, So it's nothing special, the thing that does differ in this case, is the stance, how low or high, how close or far from our body we position our throwing arm, but in most cases, we only use move from elbow and down when releasing a dart. think of it as a bow releasing an arrow. when we pull back our forearm, its like when pulling back the string on a bow and when we release the string and arrow, that's when we pull our arm forward.
I see some strange throws playing in leagues, people seem to ignore the fact that all of the very best players have incredibly simple throws. The more parts you have to a throw, the more you have to get right. This video demonstrates this perfectly.
Eric could possibly have been the best of all time until he started to suffer from what they call "dartitus" which is not being able to release the dart properly. I think that he is not on this list because he had a strange way of holding his dart, none the less he was brilliant.
