UPDATING TO REMOVE THE TYPE OF COLOR BLINDNESS I HAVE. AS SOMEONE POINTED OUT, IT CANNOT BE RED/GREEN AS THAT IS THE ABSENCE OF COLOR AND THAT IS NOT WHAT I HAVE. I cried when I put my Enchroma glasses on the first time too. It took about 30 secs for my eyes to adjust to the new colors but when it came in I was shocked! I seen dimension in trees for the first time. Trees in so many shades of green that I had never seen before and I could finally see distance. Enchroma glasses are truly remarkable for a color blind person. Edit to answer questions: - I am partially colorblind. I have issues primarily with green and some small deficiency with blue. - I am female which is more rare than male. My brother is also partially color blind with the same colors. - I can only speak for myself but I know the difference (mostly) between green and all the other colors but its hue and shading that I have issues with. For example if similar greens are all laid out together I probably couldn't tell them apart unless one was dark and the other light. - I would only recommend these glasses as a gift if that person has confirmed they are color blind and which type of lenses they need. My husband bought these for me after I confirmed my deficiency type at an eye clinic. There are multiple color blind tests online you can take to see if you are color blind as well but I would suggest seeing an eye doctor to confirm before ordering - What happens to me when I wear my glasses outside is for the first half a minute nothing and then pretty quickly I start to see different shades of green and I can tell which trees are in front and which are behind so its a depth thing for me. Living in MN, I didnt know what I was missing until I got these because I see all new colors of greens that I didnt before. For example, when I sit on my deck I can see many lines of trees in our neighborhood but they all sort of look like they are equal distance , blending together, etc. Maybe a few different colors. When I put them on I can see dozens of different shades of green. Its slightly similar with blue but not nearly to the extent. I know this is called red/green deficiency but I dont seem to have much of an issue with red. - some other colors are now very vibrant to me - I think the rarest type of color blindness is where they only see greyscale so no color at all. That is NOT what I have though. I suspect they see shading of some sort. I would guess these people need to learn which color is which is they see no color at all but again, I dont really know how that works.

@@rupis409 Hello, so far as I know they would be pretty much like us putting on a regular pair of sunglasses, where the red ones will give a reddish tint to everything and the others will make things look a lot closer to normal. Roughly 80% of colourblind people who have tried these see all of the same full colours as we do (Black, White, Grey, Clear, Pink, Brown, Beige, Peach, Yellow, Purple, Orange, Blue and of course the RedGreen show, lolz) along with the other mixtures of colours created by them. But on the opposite end of things, there are some people who are Tetrachromats (Tetrachromatic vision) who have a 4th colour cone and when they are spaced properly they can see like a 100X more colourations then virtually everyone else with normal colour vision, so to them we would be the colourblind ones who see things as being quite flat, bland and dull... Whether or not there are more full colours that we have yet to see... Who knows :)

@@jordanphilipperris now I know! I bought enchroma red-green glasses for my colorblind husband, but unfortunately it didn't worked (tried yesterday) for him. I tried them by myself (I'm not colorblind) - they intensed greens and reds (like deeper darker colors like a photofilter, colors the same just deeper and intense, not much, but more attractive) + sunglasses darkening effects (like usual sunglasses). I would definitely were them for fun, but it's too expensive (and I'm not colorblind, and didn't worked for my husband) so today I sent glasses to enchroma back.

I thought that too initially, but I have actually come across several older videos where the person who is colorblind bought the glasses. One of the most touching ones is a video of a deaf guy trying it on for the first time. He explains (via sign language & subtitles) that he ordered the glasses & wanted to do the demo right away, but most of his family/friends were busy at work or whatever. He didn't want to wait (too excited) so he filmed himself on the front porch. He doesn't pan around to show what he is looking at so you only get to view his reaction & shock at the new world he sees. :-)

Yes but they cannot really see the colours we do anyway. I think both colorblind and color-seeing people think that they suddenly see the same thing because of the glasses. But no, someone who cannot see our "red" will never be able to without some advanced surgery to get those rods in their eyes. What is actually happening is that there is more distinction between the colours they can already see. So say green and yellow both looks light brown, with the glasses one of those colours now become lighter/darker or more saturated, making it possible to distinguish them from each other!
@VeMM0
@VeMM0 2 года назад
@@sofiakangas8796 I know but it’s still wild to think about. Imagine living your life with muted colors with the knowledge that you’re seeing less of the world than people around you. Then, you finally get a chance to see as others do. The technology behind it is incredible. The fact that we have such an adept knowledge of how light works that we can bend it to create specific colors and hues for the impaired is such a cool concept. Idk maybe I’m just a nerd

@@VeMM0 Hell yeah it's cool. Though it is also true that us "regular" people don't even see the full light spectrum. There are animals that see a lot more colours than we do and it would be great to try glasses that could help us see something like that. Based on what the lady said about the sunset, I just asked my wife to buy these for Father’s Day. For all the haters replying to this. Color blindness muddles all the colors. I actually did get the glasses for father’s day. I cried like a baby and I don’t ever cry. I kept pointing out different colors to my wife and son. My wife has hibiscus in the back yard that to me has always been one color. After I put the glasses on, I realized that it was two different colors. The most surprising color was the sky. All my life I couldn’t see the true color of the sky. I was told it was blue but once I put the glasses on, the sky just exploded with blue. It was like an alien world. I understand why grown men cry when putting the glasses on for the first time. You realize that you’ve missed out on God’s true beauty all your life. All the times we went on vacation and saw sites that had my wife in awe, really wasn’t all that special to me. Now we are going to have to revisit all the sites I missed the colors on. The biggest issue I ran into when wearing the glasses, at first, I wore them a couple hours and they gave me a headache. After a couple weeks, I was able to wear them for 5-6 hours before getting a headache. Now I can wear them all the time. I have an email in to Enchroma to see if they will custom fit lenses in my camo hunting glasses. Hahah

Only way I can explain is the feeling you get when someone turns on the lights after you’ve been sitting in a dark room for awhile.. imagine this happening every time an oncoming car drives by.. it’s only a few seconds but the road I had to drive goes through the mountains so it’s got really tight curves… the ones curving to the right were ok but every curve going to he left was hell.. lol

We take all gifts from God for granted. The biggest being Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for our sins. The older I get the more I realize how much of a fool I have been to those around me. To myself. To family. We have been blessed, truely blessed to grow up in this world today where such things are now possible, yet we all tend to take for granted that which we should not. I weep at the thought of the ones who die, that I affected negatively in the past. Life is a lesson. Day by day. We must all learn to care and love more.

These glasses correct deuteranopia, where colours between red and green get muddled up. The person already knows what all the colours are, but doesn't get strong contrast between red and green... these glasses exacerbate the contrast, which makes everything suddenly seem more colourful (since almost everything has some amount of red and green in it)

Number 9 was amazing to see. It’s sad, in a way, because you can tell that learning colors has been particularly tough on him. After he finally could see, he was calling some Yellows “blue” and mixing some colors around still. But that’s likely because learning colors has been tough, so he gets them confused in his head still.
