At least he only made that mistake in one clip (although the very next clip features two oboes and one clarinet, at least there _is_ a clarinet). Edit: ...Although he then goes on to call an obvious bass clarinet variant a “soprano clarinet.” Edit 2: The last little bit on that clarinet made it sound like an idling Supra 🤣

Years ago I saw (on TV) an instrument called an Octobass It looks like a 12 foot cello! The guy playing it had to stand on a kind of raised platform. They are very rare. I hear there are only 5 or 6 in the world. They are THE lowest pitched stringed instruments. If you ever hear one the musician is probably playing that two-note "shark theme" from the movie "Jaws."

Santour is the antecessor to both the cymbelon and hammered dulcimer. The hurdy gurdy is better known as the vielle -I know about a dozen players (nad it's very similar to the nyckelharpa). Big instruments are not actually all that unknown. I know several hardanger players, and a whole lot of cajon players (and it's pronounced "ca-hone", btw). The stick dulcimer is just another version of a mountain dulcimer. I also know a number of balalaika players. Hangs are not even a little bit rare - the original ones are, but there are many similar variants available.. Chapman sticks aren't slightly rare either. Glass armonicas aren't particularly hard to find either. So, really not a particularly good video. The musical road was kinda coo - but I have heard of it.

In the tenth century Christian churches used an instrument called the organistrum. This was a large instrument that required two people to operate properly. One person turned the crank wile the other pressed the keys. The organistrum was the progenitor of two instruments in subsequent centuries. The well known pipe organ and the symphonia. The symphonia was a smaller instrument that is operated by a single person. But you know the symphonia by the pejorative term, Hurdy-Gurdy. A real Hurdy-Gurdy was a poor girl in the 1800s men would pay to dance with. The instrument of choice among the hurdy-gurdy girls was the symphonia. Ever sense then, the term hurdy-gurdy was contributed to the symphonia.

But where was the finger-bowed electric zither, very beautiful quite rare. Or even rarer than a musical road, I believe there are 3 of those worldwide, the Stalacpipe Organ only one exists in the world in the Luray Caverns, in Luray, Virginia in the US, it is also currently the world's largest musical instrument.

"Instrument you have never head of"? Well, I have some records with hurdy-gurdy (e.g. by Patty Gurdy, Simon Wascher, and Göran Hallmarken), Hardanger fiddle, cajon, and/or Chapman stick (Tony Levin of King Crimson is the most famous player), and I have heard about most of the other instruments too. I assume that it is the presenter that never had heard about these instruments. The presenter talks about the clarinet and shows an oboe. Then mispronounces the Norwegian name Terje Lerstad. Furthermore, Bern is not a city in Germany, but the capital of Switzerland. When it comes to the glass armonica the video mostly shows glass harps and Franklin's glass armonica is only shown once. Check out the great video about the glass armonica on Rob Scallon's channel!
