Great Dan!!! Polo was my signature scent in 88 senior year in High School. I still LOVE this frag. even with the reformulation. I presently have in my collection.

Lol Al , I was just getting into high school here in Ontario, Canada. But yes , that was the best Polo Green back in the day. Glad you mentioned the reformation , similar notes but longevity not like it use to be. Stay safe.

Thanks for this great review of some classic fragrances Dan. I'd argue that Armani Eau Pour Homme and Eternity for Men deserve a place in the top 20 greatest designer fragrances of all time. Paco Rabanne Pour Homme was widely regarded as a cool designer fragrance in the 1980s. Some people might dismiss it as a "grandad scent', but it has garnered lots of unsolicited compliments when I wear it - which is something I didn't expect. I prefer it to sweet synthetic bubble gum fragrances like One Million. It seems Jeremy Fragrance has finally realised that there's a whole world of beautiful fragrances just waiting to be discovered. He's recently reviewed Chanel Platinum Egoiste, Kouros and Fahrenheit. Hopefully, he'll review other classic fragrances instead of reviewing Dior Sauvage for the umpteenth time.

Guerlain Vetiver is an absolute MUST in this list. Take out the crappy Paco Rabanne Pour Homme. Are considering Guerlain a niche house? Also CK Obsession for that bucket of cat pee/civet Givenchy Gentleman EDT. Also Dolce&Gabbana The One in place of their flagship Pour Homme. Drakkar Noir in place of Kouros. "How to describe Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme.....". Best way to start the answer to that is with a comparison to the similar Versace Dreamer and Burberry London.

Givenchy Gentleman. I love it and hate it at the same time 😂. The opening is beautiful but after 3 hours it gets, to my nose, 🤢. I do not know which component that is and it is only when I smell it for longer. When I spray on paper and leave it to smell after some time, no problem. But I cannot wear it.

Paco Rabanne Pour Homme was the first "grown up" cologne I got into in the late 70s, followed by Polo Green and YSL Pour Homme, which I adored. I would remove Kouros from your list as I find it far too overpowering and headache-inducing and replace it with YSL Pour Homme, which is still a classic but far more subtle than Kouros.

You and I wore born the same year. I will be brutally honest: I detest 1 Million. As for the Dior's I'm not crazy about any of their fragrances except for Fahrenheit & some flankers but I freaking love violet leaf in any scent. I'd love a vintage bottle. I wore Acqua di Gio out and can't stand that one anymore lol. Egoïste I owned and loved. I also have Azzaro Pour Homme on hand because I love it- dad or grandad! No! And it is inexpensive too. I owned Le Male and the Fleur flanker. Great list Dan.

Although there are a TON of OG scents that I would like to appear in the list, I do understand this list is also about *significance* which means sales, sales and sales. I can't argue too much with the list, but some notable arguments I see are: Chanel Allure Homme/Sport (groundbreaking back in the day...and still well received), Calvin Klein Eternity (I wouldn't include it...but it was huge back in its day), Dolce & Gabanna The One (massive popularity over the years) and, perhaps, something like a Oscar De La Renta for Men. Cheers!

Great list. If Polo Green smelled like the vintage, it would belong in this list. In its current formulation it is a wimpy shell of its former self so it doesn’t deserve to be in a top 200 any more. Even today, all these years later, I have never smelled anything that could hold a candle to the vintage Polo Green, man do I miss it. So glad Platinum Egoiste wasn’t in the list. That stuff is annoying as hell. Even on a tester, I will never understand the love, it’s just soooo nasty, it has this annoying, cloying bitterness to it. I shiver thinking about it 😂😂 Armaf Legesi is like PE on steroids. 🤮 If I only had to disagree with one, and it is loved universally, it’s Terre D’hermes. It is considered to be one of the best fragrances ever made for men, a pure masterpiece. ON ME, it’s pure garbage, a uninspiring, synthetic mess. It smells familiar to chemical solvents we used in the semiconductor business. Nothing natural about it. Another one I will never understand the love for it, but than I know it’s my chemistry. 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮😂. I hear women like to wear it too. How the hell does one even consider it unisex? 😂
