Finally a note that I enjoy! So much fruity, vanilla, oud and gourmand being hyped up at the moment…also so much “beast mode” reviews…I prefer more fresh, woody and light floral notes (or at least my skin chemistry does 🤔)…So this video really gave me some great recommendations! 🙏

Great list with some new ones to me. I would have Richwood at the top of my list. Both my wife and I love that one, which is rare! We have been to Mysore near where she grew up, and this frag is the most evocative of Mysore sandalwood.

Great list!! Piano Santal is definetely a sandalwood masterpiece, I really love it. Tam Dao is a sandalwood masterpiece to me too, but going into a very diferent direction. Nothing but Sea and Sky I also love, if only it lasted a bit longer…😢

Amazing list, truly. Sandalwood is one of my favorite notes. Some of my favorites are in there, Santal-Basmati and Nothing but Sea and Sky (Une Nuit Nomade should be more known!). I would add Sandalo Nobile from Nobile 1942 (although a bit more floral) and although sandalwood isn't the main note Stephane Humbert Lucas's Sand Dance is a crazy gourmand with sandalwood as a dusty base.

I would love to hear your take on Molinard's Santal Insolent, or "Scandalwood" by Heretic Parfum. I also love the creamy variety of sandalwood. It might actually be my top fragrance category. Maybe I just never have crossed path with the One. My favourite notes are vetiver and neroli. Though yet to find the perfect parfume that combines these two in the way I like. Any suggestions? Glad there’s someone out there that isn’t a fan of Santal 33. Like, I don’t dislike it, I hate it lol. Zara had a similar scent a while ago, Tividen, which was sorta similar but it was much more creamy and milky. I still have a bottle that I use every so often in the colder months such as now. I layer it with my Mercedes Benz Black and the combination becomes the creamiest lactonic fragrance in my collection. If I could describe it, I would say it smells like if jewels had smells when broken. If an emerald had broken and the aroma started to fill the room, that’s what the layering smells like. It’s so beautiful. Thanks for another journey Sebastian!

Nothing but sea and sky is such an incredible scent. Its my summer time signature scent. I cannot and dont want to imagine not having it in my collection:) i also love milky musk 39 and therefore feel like i need to try piano santal since its your number one:) When it comes to milky Sandalwood i also love Rosendo Mateu no. 6.

I much prefer maison Louis Marie no. 4 Bois de balincourt to Santal 33, which it is supposedly a dupe of (but it is actually a dead ringer for le labo Santal 26) also, I wish I could love Tam Dao, but to me it smells like Thai peanut sauce would love to see a video on Andrea Maack! Hello Sebastian! I am considering getting a Sandalwood fragrance because I don’t have any woody fragrances in my lineup currently. Had been considering Sandalwood by Geo F Trumper because the boys from Wafts from the Loft are always talking it up. Have you had experience with that one? Bleu **parfum** is one of my favorite chanel fragrances with sandalwood. I really enjoy how it is both sparkling & fresh yet creamy and refreshing. I guess they planted sandalwood trees in New Caledonia that are grown exclusively for chanel fragrances too which I find to be really in line with the brand heritage

Yes def a fan. my favs are sandalwood and tobacco. I am not a fan of Santal33. I have been sampling Maison Louis Marie no4 and so far I like it. It does stays close to the skin though. My nr1 is also Piano santal, love this for fall and winter

My overwhelming favorite sandalwood, by far, is Creed’s now long discontinued, Bois de Santal. Once I smelled that one, it was hard for any others to be in the running. The only other one I really enjoy is another discontinued one…Crabtree & Evelyn’s Extract of Mysore Sandalwood.

My favourite sandalwood fragrances are : Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle (discontinued), Trayee and Ashoka by Neela Vermeire, 24 rue de l'Université by YSL. I am really surprised that you did not mention any of the Neela Vermeire fragrances as the sandalwood is really dominant and it is one of the most qualitative sandalwood I have ever smelled.

Serge Lutens Santal Majascule is just the most perfect sandalwood perfume. If you like sandalwood with cacao and rose, it’s just 😋😘😘😘. Only problem is it doesn’t last all day. Is there a similar rose + sandalwood+cacao that’s very similar pls?

I have tried most of these in the last month but I am still waiting for samples of Guidance + Santal Basmati. I could not smell Milky Musk at all and no one else could smell it on me either? However I wore Piano Santal for the first time to work and I got 3 compliments - quickly bought a bottle. It is holy grail for me. I also own Santal Volcanique by Crivelli for an aromatic take on sandalwood. Have you tried the Scents of Wood Bread in Chestnut and Sandalwood in Oak? I think they are great options for unisex winter/fall. Thank you for this list Sebastian!

I'm amazed Geo F. Trumper Sandalwood didn't find a spot here in the top 10! Such an underrated and understated house. This is clean, fresh, very British gentlemanly, very versatile - just a delightful sandalwood, very classy!

I prefer the more creamy sandalwood vs the woody sandalwood. I personally can't stand Santal 33, it gives me headaches

I don't have any of these, although I have tried Tam Dao and Nothing But Sea And Sky. I remember liking Tam Dao. Nothing But Sea And Sky made no impression on me.

I really dislike Santal 33 and I love the note of sandalwood. I prefer creamy sandalwood too. Favorite sandalwoods are Piano Santal, Santal Blush, Santal Blond.

I love sandlewood and usually wear pure sandlewood oil even have some rare mysore sandlewood oils from the 70s and I can tell you now the best sandlewood fragrance by a mile is tam dao it’s still to the day the only fragrance that’s close to a pure oil. 2nd pick is diors santal noir
