A friendly word of warning to those interested in lion's mane; If you have asthma or histamine related allergies perhaps start with very small doses, or skip it completely. After suffering with hayfever like sinus symptoms, headaches progressing up to migraines, and a progressively wheezy chest for a couple of weeks, I worked out the symptoms began a couple of days after I started taking a 100% lion's mane fruiting body extract. With a bit of google fu I discovered some warnings about the increase in nerve growth factor from the lion's mane and how that could cause issues for those with asthma or allergies. Within a day of stopping taking the lion's mane capsules the headaches and runny nose stopped. Sinuses cleared dramatically the following day, and chest cleared more each day after that until a few days later all symptoms had stopped.

Tbf, taking a 100% extract is not a good way to introduce yourself to a substance. If you’ve never even drank a beer before and you drink pure 100% moonshine then you’re going to overwhelm your system. You should always start very small with new mushrooms and cook thoroughly.

I'm totally sharing this video, I too am a big Paul Stamets fan along with the cinematography of Louie Schwartzberg. So many amazing things involve mushrooms and we need to keep an open mind when it comes to all the medicinal benefits. If they can help someone in a significant way then why wouldn't we want this?

Fantastic fungi is on Amazon video now, I watched it the other day, it really is very well made and rather informative. My only gripe was that it ended, I'm sure I would have had enjoyed it further at double the run time (but that's just me being utterly greedy, the hour and half ISH that the film ran was good)

I know a lady who ate unknown mushrooms and even fed her child and both died within a matter of minutes. Foam frothing from the mouth. It was in India.
