I'm glad to see Covid-19 _not_ on this list, since it's still ongoing and developing daily. IMO, with only a few exceptions, "all time" lists should _never_ feature something recent, because we won't understand the full scope of a recent occurrence until years (if not decades) later. Sure, we're feeling the effects of Covid-19 now, but how quickly we forget that people in the past who felt these outbreaks likely had it much worse.

You know, despite so much tragedy and devastation throughout the ages, one thing has always remained the same, is humanity’s ability and desire to fight to stay alive through the worst possible times, and we’re doing it yet again, and while we are much better prepared today then we were since the Spanish flu when we had no technology, it’s still poses a very real threat to humanity. But I look at things this way, with each pandemic we’ve learned a lot, that has allowed us to put a lot of precautions in place, and we all still have that desire to survive and thrive, so that with each passing pandemic we know more and more how to protect ourselves, the trouble here is that it goes against our daily routine and our nature. Human beings are very social creatures, we thrive on being together in groups, and have a need, like many other creatures, to touch one another, To feel loved, but during a pandemic like this, that beautiful nature can be absolutely deadly for us, and it is so difficult to ignore our own natural tendencies, and re-train our brains not to do the things we love to do. Take social distancing for example, I work in healthcare, it’s been drilled into our brains every day since the beginning of this outbreak, yet yesterday I was at a restaurant getting takeout food, because there are no sitdown restaurants available, takeout only, and I just stood in line as always, completely forgetting that I’m supposed to stay 6 feet away from the person in front of me, who turned around and had the nerve to try to shoe me away, using hand gestures, because we were in a Chinese restaurant and this guy spoke zero English. At first I was so angry and pissed off I wanted to smash the guy in the face, when you live in a big city like Toronto, you get used to being crowded, and anybody tries to tell me what to do it’s going to get a lot more than they bargained for, I do not tolerate anyone telling me what to do, except this time, I quickly remembered about social distancing, so I told the guy there’s no need to be rude, you can still ask someone to back away without being insulting, to which I heard the typical “no English“, as you do all throughout Chinatown, but don’t get me started on that! It’s not a racist argument, it’s an argument of ignorance and annoyance of people living here and refusing to even bother learning the language of the country they live in, but to me it’s just plain ignorance, not to mention learning how to behave properly, because everyone behind me told the guy the same thing, until we all realize he spoke no English, so I guy in the back of the line spoke to him in Chinese and gave him hell, Then he understood, because I had already told him I was sorry, yet he kept pushing his hands away from me, which in our culture is considered extremely rude, and I do not tolerate any BS from anybody. But all that is beside the point, my main point is it’s very difficult for us to go against our own nature, and unfortunately, it’s allowing the virus to spread like wild fire. Although I have to give our government credit, like most places we have three levels of government. We have the federal government, the provincial governments, and the local civic government. In Toronto currently, all three levels of government are from different political parties and generally never agree on anything, especially the provincial level, who is led by none other than Rob Ford’s, brother Doug, A complete moron, that loves Trump with a passion, which tells you all you need to know about his character. However, just this once, I will give them all credit for putting aside their political differences and working together since the first moment I found out about this virus, to keep our entire population as safe as possible, and shutting down the entire country. All levels of government have worked together to ensure that all those who have lost their jobs, which is estimated to be anywhere between 500,000 up to 1 million people, are receiving immediate financial relief in the amount of $2000 per person per month, so that people can pay the rent and their bills without losing their home, because the banks, naturally, don’t give a shit, And are expecting everyone to pay their mortgages, the best they can do is say they’re allowed to skip a mortgage but you’ll have to pay the difference later with interest, but if you rent, and you lost your job, the government has made it illegal for any landlord to kick a tenant out we cannot pay the rent due to this virus. They’ve given tax breaks and no end of help to all the people that have been financially affected by this. And while this is gonna cost us a lot once it’s over, at least the entire country is still surviving just fine. I’m very fortunate that I live on long-term disability, and receive my usual $2700 a month, and my husband who works in the MRI department in the same hospital where I was an x-ray technologist, has all the work he can handle and then some. I’m just glad the government here in Canada is acting like a real government should, assuming responsibility for everything, and not allowing a single citizen to suffer because of this outbreak, I just wish the same could be said for our poor American neighbours south of the border, who are being led by Howdy Doody! Bottom line is, we will get through this one way or another, we always do, and we always will, no matter deaths are acceptable, but sadly they are inevitable, but I’m happy to say that our government, has already saved thousands upon thousands of lives by taking action immediately over a month ago, unlike the morons in charge of the White House that I just now finally taking it seriously. I called this natural selection, it’s nature killing off the stupid and ignorance, so that those with common sense deserve to survive, the sad part is, in modern society even those who have common sense are overruled by morons like Trump who refuse to help anybody except themselves and their rich friends, allowing thousands upon thousands of innocent American citizens to needlessly die A completely senseless death. 9000 people have died there already, and he still thinks that it is a fake or a conspiracy theory? I had the Hong Kong flu in 1968. My family lived in Dallas, TX. All the schools closed. I still remember how sick I was. My mother brought me downstairs to their bedroom to care for me. I don’t think anyone else in the family had it. To this day I hardly ever get the flu. Maybe twice that I can remember, and I was a nurse. Nurses just have amazing immune systems. Otherwise we’d be sick all the time.

From what I have learned so far is these past outbreaks were more severe and killed more people. I keep noticing in this pandemic that all of the people who have recovered is rarely ever mentioned if at all why? More people have recovered than died now it is over 700,00 worldwide
