The three lenses I’d recommend for a beginner: - 18-135mm is stm - 50mm f/1.8 stm - 55-250mm is stm The reason I wouldn’t add a 10-18mm is there’s really not much range there and i think it would be better to get a fixed lens.
@VladimirHidalgo
@VladimirHidalgo 2 года назад
I love my 10-18mm, specially useful inside small homes specially when you just want a 15+ people family picture and a small distortion is acceptable Vs. no picture
@13DCR

I would also include and recommend the 50mm f/1.8. It does superb portraits, great vor landscape, street and much more.
@billy9506
@billy9506 2 года назад
Get rid of the 50mm 1.8 on a crop! 80mm equivalent isn't great for daily shooting or street photography - it's nowhere near wide enough. The optical design on the 50mm 1.8 is decades old now and it shows. Soft wide open and so much chromatic aberrations. Get a 24mm 2.8 STM. Smaller, wider, sharper.
@set3777
@set3777 2 года назад
@@billy9506 I just added a 0.7X wide angle converter to the 50mm 1.8 STM and I can get a 22mm at brighter than f1.8 with a real 50mm FOV on an APSC. 50mm 1.8 STM was released May 11, 2015 - not decades ago. No CA and softness with STM version unlike the older micro-motor (II) version (I got rid of my 24mm 2.8 STM because it is an inferior design as it tended to fog up with water vapor internally when temperature changes. Took me 2 months to get rid of the water vapor by putting it unusable in a silica gel box.)

My top 3 lenses: 1. Canon 50mm prime len 2. the 18-135mm STM 3. the 55-250mm STM the reason I choose 18-135mm bcus it’s a do-it-all lense when the 50mm is good for portraits and faster focus and if you want a further zoom lense then the 55-250mm STM is the best choice for you with the best price.

I think if you wanted to go for more of that "holy trinity" feel, then it should be the 10-18, 18-55, and the 55-250. That way there's no overlap, but I do agree with your choices.
@rklmbd2934
@rklmbd2934 5 лет назад
Oh cool, have all 3. The 10-18 gets least used tbh but it's nice to have. Main regret is the small and variable maximum aperture on them I guess. Really only fun to shoot in excellent light, night work is possible but not if you need to be spontaneous. The 55-250 is astonishingly sharp and produces rich, nuanced colors. Its my street photography favorite because I don't need to get in people's faces.

"Best value" not only means cheapest, but providing far greater value for the price. Totally agree about the 18-35 but I’ve never shot the 50-100, I do shoot full frame as well but nothing handles filters like the 18-35. And, because it’s a cropped sensor you use the 85mm filters so eventually it will pay for itself.

What's the aperture?
@edurmissa
@edurmissa Год назад
10-18mm biggest and decisive flaw is it's aperture, sooner than latter is going to be too dark to use it, however if the thing is motion less, it's IS comes into hand allowing you to get the shoot and for video it shines quite well, I have done some hand held video with it and the motion was fairly nice also I start using it on a steadycam and works quite well, IS is a nice life saver as if you didn't balance so right, motions still are a bit under control. 55-250 is truly wonderful, once again thanks to IS and its close focusing, make that lens so versatile, as when light goes down you still can shoot even at a long focal and even works as a pseudo macro, thanks to its zoom range and IS. They are on the low-end range, but seriously well done.

My 760D (T6S) has in camera corrections for all Canon lenses for 1. peripheral illumination 2. Chromatic aberrations 3. Distortion Newer pro Canon cameras have in camera corrections for diffraction of Canon lenses. So Sigma and Tamron wide angle lenses ARE inferior. They can't even be used with the built-in flash of the Canon APSC cameras as their wider diameters would even block the function of the Camera's built-in flash. (Canon do not put built-in flash in FF cameras since FF lenses have wider diameters).

Thanks for your video. I am on the Canon USA Forum support site, and we get a LOT of questions about lenses (but yes, second to bodies). I am not familiar with the first EF-S lens 10-18 STM, but have read and heard good things about it. I very much concur with the 18-135 STM or USM (FoV 29-216mm), and 55-250 (FoV 88-400mm) lenses. I would also add a classic, that has been called the secret L lens for APS-C: the EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM (giving a FoV of 24-136mm) - if one can pick up a good used one, they are brilliant: I have a couple of them and the are great lenses, especially since they give a reach into the wider end in one lens. If one wants a fast constant lens then the EF-S 17-55 f/2.5 IS USM (FoV 274-88mm), is arguably the best in an EF-S mount.

I would like for you to look at the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. Even though it is in desperate need of an upgrade, it is still, in my opinion, an amazing aps-c lens. What do you think?
@alpao74
@alpao74 6 лет назад
Yes, I have that lens and it's amazing. Now I'm looking for a telephoto in that price range, similar maximum aperture and build quality and obviously I can't find one. If I want f2.8 on a telephoto I need to spend a lot more...
@jrokkmedia
@jrokkmedia 6 лет назад
alpao74 yeah pretty much the best aps-c lens on the telephoto side is the native EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. It is a sharp lens and the value you get is worth it but it does lack the constant aperture. Canon should upgrade it to be at least a constant f/4 aperture and maintain sharpness or improve on it with its great IS & STM tech and it would have a killer telephoto zoom lens for sports and wildlife which people actually use crop bodies for already with that extra reach (1.6x crop factor)

Hi sir I just saw your video, a simple question what is the difference between having;yellow ,red ,silver ring on the lenses and some doesn’t have the ring thanks
@anupapasanjith
@anupapasanjith 6 лет назад
shinywhitelotus yellow ring is mostly used by sigma lenses, red ring is used by canon's much expensive 'L series' lenses which are made to fit both full frame and aps-c sensors. Silver ring is mostly used by canon's less expensive aps-c lenses. For a exsample if you want to buy canon 18-135 there are 4 versions of it ( 18-135 IS , 18-135 IS ii , 18-135 IS STM , 18-135 IS USM) Try to buy STM or USM lens since they are fast at autoforcusing than the previous versions.
@jrokkmedia
@jrokkmedia 6 лет назад
Red rings are reserved for full frame lenses and are regarded as the best lenses canon makes for their full-frame DSLR's such as the 1DX-MkII, 5D MkIV or the 6D MkII. Yellow rings on older canon lenses mean that they are equipped with a USM focus motor which is quieter than their previous versions. Silver rings around the lenses categorize them as consumer grade and have the best value for the price. Hope this helps :)

The title of the video references BEST VALUE. Not everyone can afford a Canon 5d with 1.2 to 2.8 L glass. The largest selling DSLR camera in the USA today is the T7 with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens. The three lenses Matt mentioned are suitable for those learning to use their cameras and compose shots. If you stick with photography, there is always time after you develop to swap out your lenses for L lenses, and then swap out your camera body. (I have seen some excellent photos taken with entry-level DSLRs and kit lenses.)
