Since I change using olive oil instead of canola oil, I started loosing unwanted muffin fat in my belly. My sister relayed to me what the canola oil does in human body. In my opinion, like the car- you must put the right petrol for it to run. Otherwise, problem will appear later in the car & would cause malfunction. So, is our body, we must use the right oil in order to function well. Thank you for your info re: good oils & bad oils for human consumption.

I'm glad to hear that switching from canola oil to olive oil has helped you achieve your health goals! While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition, choosing healthier oils like olive oil can have numerous benefits for overall health. As you mentioned, the right oil can help the body function optimally, just like a car runs best on the right fuel. It's important to pay attention to the types of fats in our diet and choose healthy options like olive oil, nuts, and seeds, while limiting or avoiding unhealthy options like processed foods high in saturated and trans fats. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep up the good work!

Please comment on the use of rice bran oil and also filtered (not refined) groundnut oil for regular cooking in small amounts such as stewing.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Both rice bran oil and filtered groundnut oil can be suitable options for regular cooking in small amounts like stewing. Here are some key points to consider: Rice Bran Oil: Rice bran oil is extracted from the outer layer of rice grains and is known for its high smoke point, making it suitable for various cooking methods, including frying and sautéing. It contains a good balance of polyunsaturated fats, monounsaturated fats, and saturated fats, which makes it a healthier choice compared to oils high in saturated fats. Rice bran oil is also rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, which can provide additional health benefits. It has a mild flavor, making it versatile for different cuisines. Filtered Groundnut Oil (Peanut Oil): Filtered groundnut oil, also known as peanut oil, is derived from peanuts and has a relatively high smoke point, making it suitable for cooking at higher temperatures. It has a mild flavor that doesn't overpower the taste of the dish. Groundnut oil contains a good amount of monounsaturated fats, which are considered heart-healthy fats. It is also rich in vitamin E and resveratrol, which have antioxidant properties. When using any cooking oil, it's important to keep portion sizes in mind and not exceed recommended amounts for your dietary needs. Also, consider factors like your overall diet, health condition, and any specific dietary restrictions or preferences you may have. It's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice based on your specific health goals and needs.

NO OIL for cooking we need pork fat. And oil only as dressing for salads. My grand mother never coked on oil except fish. An litre of oil was enough for more then month. Trough pork fat they lived long life and raised 4 children on small farm around 16 ha. I remember great tasty meals of my grand mama all this Michelin star hotel chef never prepared so great meals list as I tested. just simple fray egg on pork fat has a great test in comparation with oil, second cooking on oil produce enormous grease on wall tiles and in kitchen generally.

Can you bake with avocado oil
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Yes, you can definitely bake with avocado oil! Avocado oil has a high smoke point and a mild flavor, making it a great option for baking. It can be used in place of other oils or fats, such as butter or vegetable oil, in recipes like cakes, cookies, and breads. When substituting avocado oil for other fats, use the same amount called for in the recipe. However, keep in mind that avocado oil is a more expensive option compared to other cooking oils, so it may not be the best choice for all recipes.

so if all these oils are bad for you why are thay still on sale in the supermarkets
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
The availability of different oils in supermarkets is based on consumer demand, culinary preferences, and cultural traditions. It's important for consumers to be informed and make conscious choices when selecting oils and other food products. Reading food labels, understanding the nutritional content, and considering overall dietary patterns can help individuals make healthier choices. Food regulations and labeling requirements also play a role in ensuring that consumers have access to accurate information about the products they purchase. However, it's ultimately the responsibility of individuals to make informed decisions about their dietary choices and seek professional guidance when needed.

Thanks for sharing. Find this information very helpful. However, i have a question... is avocado oil good for a person who has kidney failure and is on dialysis and as well a diabetic?
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Avocado oil is generally considered a healthy fat and may have some health benefits for people with diabetes, but whether it is appropriate for someone with kidney failure and on dialysis will depend on the individual's specific medical condition and dietary needs. In general, people with kidney failure and on dialysis need to limit their intake of potassium, phosphorus, and sodium, and may need to adjust their protein and fluid intake. Avocado oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids and low in saturated fatty acids, which can be beneficial for heart health and blood sugar control. However, it is also high in calories and may contain some potassium, which could be problematic for people with kidney failure and on dialysis. Therefore, it is important to consult with a qualified healthcare provider, such as a registered dietitian, who can assess your individual medical condition and provide tailored dietary recommendations. They can help you determine if avocado oil is appropriate for you, and if so, in what amount.

We have no avocado oil in our country. How do we prepare avocado oil at home? Thanks.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Avocado oil can be made at home using ripe avocados and a blender or food processor. Here's a simple recipe: Cut ripe avocados in half, remove the pit and scoop out the flesh. Place the avocado flesh in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour the blended avocado into a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring constantly for 15-20 minutes until the oil begins to separate from the pulp. Strain the oil through a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve into a jar or bottle. Store the avocado oil in a cool, dark place and use within a few weeks. Keep in mind that homemade avocado oil may not be as pure or stable as commercially produced oil, so it's important to use it quickly and refrigerate any unused portion. Thanks for your question!

What about peanut oil and sesame oil. These oils are being used since decades in Indian foods. Separate discussion is required in this regard. Ghee is being used as a matching ingredient when eating curries and pickles in Indian food culture.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Peanut oil and sesame oil have been used in Indian cuisine for many years and are generally considered safe to consume in moderate amounts as part of a balanced diet. Peanut oil is a good source of monounsaturated fats and is commonly used in cooking due to its high smoke point, while sesame oil is rich in polyunsaturated fats and has a distinct nutty flavor. Ghee, which is clarified butter, is also commonly used in Indian cuisine and is known for its rich, nutty flavor. It has a high smoke point and is often used in frying and sautéing. While ghee is high in saturated fat, some studies suggest that it may have potential health benefits, such as reducing inflammation and improving digestion. As with any food, it's important to consume these oils and fats in moderation as part of a balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods. If you have specific dietary concerns or health conditions, it's always best to consult with a registered dietitian or healthcare provider to determine the best approach for your individual needs.

What about palm oils. Palm kennel oils? We have been told that they are good for our health. What about Shea butter too which has been the number one cooking fat in the northern part of Ghana. Thanks 👍
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Palm oil and palm kernel oil are high in saturated fats and may increase cholesterol levels in the body when consumed in excess. While these oils may have some health benefits, it's important to consume them in moderation and to choose other healthier fats such as olive oil, avocado oil, or nuts and seeds whenever possible. Similarly, while Shea butter has been traditionally used for cooking in some parts of Ghana, it's important to be mindful of the amount used and to consider other healthier cooking fats such as vegetable oils. As always, we recommend consulting with a healthcare professional to determine a personalized dietary plan that works best for you.

There is some debate and conflicting evidence about the effects of coconut oil on blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. While coconut oil is a source of saturated fat, which can be detrimental to heart health, some studies suggest that it may have a beneficial effect on insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control. However, more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits and risks of using coconut oil for diabetes management. In general, it's important for people with diabetes to focus on a balanced, healthy diet that is low in saturated and trans fats and high in fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats like olive oil and nuts. It's always a good idea to speak with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian to determine what foods and dietary patterns are best suited for your individual needs and health goals.

Coconut oil is a controversial topic when it comes to diabetes management. Some studies have suggested that consuming coconut oil may improve insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control, while others have found no significant benefits. If you're managing diabetes, it's generally recommended to limit your intake of saturated and trans fats, and focus on incorporating healthy fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats into your diet instead. These types of fats can be found in foods like nuts, seeds, avocado, and fatty fish. Overall, it's a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider or a registered dietitian before adding coconut oil or any other new food to your diet, especially if you have diabetes or other health concerns.

Want about perilla oil and camellia oil?could you please tell us those two oil’s benefits? Thanks a lot 🙏.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Perilla oil and camellia oil are both popular cooking oils that offer various health benefits. Here's a brief overview of each: Perilla Oil: >>> Perilla oil is derived from the seeds of the Perilla frutescens plant, which is native to Asia. >>> It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is a type of essential fatty acid. >>> The omega-3 fatty acids in perilla oil have been associated with anti-inflammatory properties and potential cardiovascular benefits. >>> It may help reduce inflammation in the body, support brain health, and improve lipid profiles by reducing levels of harmful LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. >>> Perilla oil has a distinct flavor that is often used in Asian cuisines as a finishing oil or as a condiment. Camellia Oil: >>> Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil, is derived from the seeds of the Camellia sinensis or Camellia oleifera plants. >>> It is rich in monounsaturated fats, specifically oleic acid, which is known for its potential cardiovascular benefits. >>> Camellia oil contains antioxidants, including polyphenols, which help protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation. >>> It has a high smoke point, making it suitable for cooking at higher temperatures such as stir-frying, sautéing, and deep-frying. >>> It is known for its light and delicate flavor, often described as slightly nutty or floral. Both perilla oil and camellia oil are considered healthier alternatives to certain cooking oils high in saturated fats. However, it's important to use them in moderation as part of a balanced diet. As with any dietary changes or specific health concerns, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice.

what about cold pressed safflower oil?please let me know thanks in advance
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Cold-pressed safflower oil is a type of safflower oil that is extracted using a mechanical pressing method without the use of high heat or chemicals. This method helps to retain the natural nutrients and flavor of the oil. Safflower oil, including cold-pressed safflower oil, is known for its high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, particularly omega-9 fatty acids. These fatty acids can be beneficial for heart health and may help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Additionally, safflower oil is a good source of vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that helps protect the body's cells from damage. It also has a relatively high smoke point, making it suitable for various cooking methods, including sautéing and frying. However, it's important to note that safflower oil is still a source of calories and fat, so it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. It's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice based on your specific dietary needs and health conditions.

I am inclined to use refined sunflower seed oil, for deep frying veg cutlets, pakoras and samosas.. this is because the oil is fluid (like water is). Less sign of deterioration on use. I would like that you offer your Comments and maybe suggest for me an alternative.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Refined sunflower seed oil can indeed be a suitable choice for deep frying veg cutlets, pakoras, and samosas. It has a high smoke point and a relatively neutral flavor, which makes it suitable for frying at higher temperatures without imparting an overwhelming taste to the food. Here are a few considerations: Smoke Point: Refined sunflower seed oil typically has a smoke point of around 440-450°F (230-232°C), which is well-suited for deep frying. This high smoke point helps to maintain the stability and integrity of the oil during the frying process. Fluidity: Sunflower seed oil has a relatively light and fluid consistency, which can be advantageous for deep frying. It allows the food to be coated evenly and can contribute to a crispier texture. Oxidation and Shelf Life: Like any cooking oil, refined sunflower seed oil can undergo oxidation over time due to exposure to air, heat, and light. It's important to store the oil properly in a cool, dark place to minimize oxidation and extend its shelf life. Regularly check the oil for signs of deterioration, such as a rancid smell or discoloration, and replace it if needed. Alternatives to consider: Refined canola oil: Canola oil is another option with a high smoke point and a neutral flavor. It is known for its heart-healthy unsaturated fats. Refined peanut oil: Peanut oil, also known as groundnut oil, is commonly used in deep frying due to its high smoke point and mild flavor. Refined safflower oil: Safflower oil has a high smoke point and a mild taste, making it suitable for deep frying. When selecting any cooking oil, it's important to choose oils that are labeled as "refined" for deep frying, as refined oils have undergone a process to remove impurities and increase their stability at high temperatures. Remember to use cooking oils in moderation, as they are calorie-dense. Additionally, consider individual dietary preferences, health conditions, and consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized advice tailored to your specific needs.

Hi it’s olive oil good for high heat cooking ?
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Yes, olive oil can be a good option for high-heat cooking, but there are a few important considerations to keep in mind: Smoke Point: The smoke point of an oil is the temperature at which it starts to smoke and break down. Olive oil has varying smoke points depending on the type. Extra virgin olive oil has a lower smoke point and is better suited for lower-heat cooking or drizzling over foods. Refined olive oil has a higher smoke point and can be used for higher-heat cooking. Quality: If you're using olive oil for high-heat cooking, opt for a refined olive oil rather than extra virgin olive oil. Refined olive oil has been processed to have a higher smoke point and a milder flavor. Save the extra virgin olive oil for dishes where its flavor is appreciated. Health Benefits: Olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil, is known for its health benefits due to its monounsaturated fats and antioxidants. Cooking with olive oil can retain some of these benefits, but using it at high heat for prolonged periods might lead to the breakdown of its nutrients. Balanced Diet: While olive oil can be a part of a healthy diet, it's still important to maintain a balanced diet rich in a variety of whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. For very high-heat cooking methods like deep frying, you might want to consider oils with even higher smoke points, such as avocado oil or peanut oil. Ultimately, using olive oil for high-heat cooking can be a good choice as long as you're aware of the specific type of olive oil you're using and its smoke point. If you have concerns or questions, consulting with a registered dietitian or nutritionist can provide personalized guidance based on your dietary preferences and health goals.

Please is coconuts oils good for a diebetic?
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Coconut oil can be included in the diet of someone with diabetes, but it's important to consume it in moderation and consider its overall impact on blood sugar levels and heart health. Coconut oil is a source of saturated fat, and consuming high amounts of saturated fat has been associated with increased risk of heart disease. Therefore, it's recommended to limit saturated fat intake, including coconut oil, as part of a balanced diet. While coconut oil does not contain carbohydrates, which directly affect blood sugar levels, it can still contribute to overall calorie intake and should be considered within the context of an individual's overall dietary needs and goals. If you have diabetes or any specific dietary concerns, it's best to work with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian who can provide personalized guidance based on your specific needs and medical history. They can help you create a balanced meal plan that takes into account your blood sugar control, heart health, and overall well-being.

What about Rice bran oil? Is it good for diabetics‽
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Rice bran oil is considered a healthy cooking oil and can be a suitable option for individuals with diabetes. However, it's important to remember that while rice bran oil can be a healthier choice compared to some other cooking oils, moderation is still key. Like any oil, it is calorie-dense, so it's essential to use it in appropriate amounts as part of a balanced diet. As always, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice based on your specific health condition and dietary needs.

Why is coconut oil not. Good ??
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Coconut oil has been a topic of debate among health professionals and researchers in recent years. While some studies suggest that coconut oil may have some health benefits, others suggest that it may have negative effects on heart health due to its high saturated fat content. Saturated fats, including those found in coconut oil, can increase levels of LDL cholesterol, also known as "bad" cholesterol, which can increase the risk of heart disease. However, some proponents of coconut oil argue that it contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which may be easier to metabolize and provide energy to the body. Overall, it's important to consume coconut oil in moderation and as part of a balanced diet. It should not be relied on as a sole source of dietary fat, and other sources of healthy fats, such as olive oil and avocado, should also be included. It's also important to consider individual factors, such as overall health, personal dietary preferences, and any medical conditions or medications that may interact with coconut oil consumption.

@@DiabeticsTalk Coconut oil is better than all the oils you listed because it doesn't have to be broken down by the liver so it takes precedence in the digestive process.

Is coconut oil good for cooking?
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
Coconut oil can be used for cooking, and it has gained popularity in recent years. It has a unique composition of fatty acids, including medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are metabolized differently in the body compared to other fats. Some potential benefits of coconut oil include its ability to increase "good" HDL cholesterol, provide a source of quick energy, and its potential antimicrobial properties. However, it's important to note that coconut oil is high in saturated fat, which may have a negative impact on heart health if consumed in excessive amounts. The American Heart Association recommends limiting saturated fat intake to help reduce the risk of heart disease. When using coconut oil for cooking, it's best to use it in moderation and as part of a well-balanced diet. If you have specific dietary concerns or medical conditions, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice. It's also worth noting that different cooking oils can be suitable for different types of cooking. For example, high-heat cooking methods like frying or sautéing may require oils with a higher smoke point, such as avocado oil or canola oil.

Coconut oil is more expensive than EVOO!
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Год назад
While coconut oil may be more expensive, it's important to consider your personal preferences, dietary needs, and budget when choosing between the two oils. Both coconut oil and EVOO have their own unique flavor profiles and culinary applications. If you find that coconut oil fits your cooking style and preferences better, it can still be used judiciously, keeping in mind the higher cost.
