Byzantine Games are working on a medieval Grand Strategy game that incorporates Field of Glory II: Medieval battles into the combat sequences of the Grand Strategy game
very nice list, ty for the vid 😃if it was top 5, would you add one of those games in the list: Knights of Honor, Age of Empires 2, a Stronghold or even TW Shogun II?
I would not consider AOE2 to be historical enough to qualify for this list. It's more like set-dressing than anything else. Shogun II wouldn't qualify for me either, as "Medieval" or "the Middle Ages" refers to a period in European history.
I'm the rare kind of guy that doesn't seem to like Medieval II. To me it always seemed like a rushed and fairly low-quality skin for Rome: Total War. Btw, FOG2: M will actually receive a "Grand Campaign" via Field of Glory: Kingdoms. It's a different game, so that's cheating a little, but you can actually fight out battles inside of the FOG2:M engine if you so choose, so it's integrated a little more than you might first think. As for Kosovo: you were on the verge of being correct I think. It's populated mostly by ethnic Albanians (most of which are Muslim). About 50% of the 192 UN members recognize it as an independent state (the United States, which it sounds like you're from, is one of them). The situation remains unfortunately unresolved for now.
Cheers! I'm typically up to date on my Social Studies but I was genuinely at a loss there. Assuming it's already predominantly Muslim I wonder why it doesn't just integrate with Bosnia Hzergovina? The Balkans are absolutely nuts, what a fascinating but tragic area in general. I totally hear you on Medieval 2, the moment I discovered Crusader Kings 2, I lost all interest. At the end of the day that's exactly what it was, a reskin of Rome. Depending on the mood I was in, it felt like I was playing DLC's of the same game. Now that TW has gone entirely fantasy I have lost any and all hope of a genuine Medieval sequel that hits the spot.
