I will never forget you saying, " you could be feeding a raw diet perfectly, then sabotaging the diet with the wrong treats." That woke me up 2yrs ago. Our dogs eat raw and consume single ingredient treats for training. I consider myself Paleo and continue to research as well as clean for our dogs. I totally agree about testing as well as giving the appropriate supplements as needed. I use the DoggyBiome tests for gut and oral health, I use the VDI lab tests for Vitamins D and B12 as well as the CRP inflammatory profile, and once a year I use the Innovative Pet Labs Comprehensive test to check all aspects of my dogs’ gut health. I have also used the Ucari food sensitivity test and I highly recommend it. One of my dogs has a sensitivity to cod liver oil so I’ve since had to adjust his diet and I think his acid reflux symptoms have improved. If my dogs get loose stools then I start with a more bland diet along with pumpkin and s boulardii. If they need something more then I also give them GastroElm because it’s a great soothing mucilage. If they still need a little more help then I reach for the Coptis Teapills. They are great!! It usually clears up any GI issues within 3-5 days but can be used up to 10 days if I recall correctly. This protocol consistently works and I hope to never use drugs like Flagyl
RX Diets as short term solutions only and the fact there aren’t any studies for the effects of those diets longer than 6 months is crazy. Vets and marketing position these kibbles as medically necessary and when all you want is to help your pet… it’s so hard to question the professional. It’s just crazy how much conflicting non nuanced information is out there. But I’ve learned so much from you and now with my vet, if they can’t tell me why my dog needs that specific medication or diet, I do whatever provides some safe immediate relief but keep asking questions to find an actual reason my
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We can be respectful but still question doctors. This is something my family has learned through the years navigating autoimmune disease. Just because someone wears a white coat doesn’t mean they know everything. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know everything! But I’m always learning 🥰
My dog is insulin dependent diabetic and always has smelly breath, I light cook low fat mince turkey and pumpkin or butternut squash, broccoli, and I give 1/4 teaspoon ahiflower oil, 1/2 caps Cobalamin, milk thistle, and teaspoon natural live greek yoghurt, what am I doing wrong ? He doesn't have bad gut or diahorea, he's much better since taking him off vet recommended tinned original chappie, he has put on a small bit of weight as he was losing it and was very skinny Jack Russell

My cats have been raw fed for 4 years. The last 12-18 months they've had diarrhea. The stool and blood tests come back showing no issues. My one cat has it more than others. I've tried pre and pro biotics, nzymes, pumpkin, and psyllium just to make a few. I have no clue what to do for them. 😢

Just a thought... Have you tried changing proteins, or feeding only organic? I won't feed my pet any chicken unless it's organic because nonorganically raised chickens are fed corn, which has likely been sprayed with glysophate, for example. Maybe try salmon or white fish, duck, or gently cooked meals, instead. I hope you find the cause... you must be at your wit's end and your poor little babies need some relief. ✨️💖✨️
I have dogs vs cats and feed homemade raw. If I do not include enough raw meaty bones in the diet the stools will get loose. Also, if too many organ meats like liver are fed that can also cause loose stools.

When is the best time to test stool? My dog’s first morning poop is normal firm then gets softer after the 2nd or 3rd poop in the same walk. Do we test the “good” or “bad” poop? 💩
