I'll always remember our first icc 25man. My hunters pet fell thru the floor and pulled everything from lady deathwhisper to the front door. The stream of mobs was like farming zf for your friends alt lol
Pretty sure our first time, one of the known guild drunkies just auto ran through the first wave of mobs, wiping everyone before we could even look around xD
Great informative video man! I am coming back to the game after a long hiatus and I think this video will help me make my decision on what class to play. I appreciate the time and effort put into the video! Cheers
I remember Survival being really fun in pvp. Especially in Wintergrasp or Strand of the ancients. Lock n Load procs Explosive shot Trap launcher. Good times, good times.
Wrath was my introduction into WOW. Never, had I loved every class and played them all equally and sucking at the same time. I was not interested in Vanilla and TBC. I will be playing WRATH,
Big thanks to toyhouze and the youtubers for making everyone roll human dk/pala. As an orc warrior i am simply in dream land, in fact everyone out here on fresh servers ganking away and when i meet one of the few alliance playing warrior we just /nod at each other in open world like 'we know' and go about our business. suchwow
This is just an opinion, while I can agree with the protection paladin place I think the 2nd and 3rd are more subjective. I mean what good is an affliction warlock if bosses die before dots start ticking
@@jackshiraq575 As the other guy says, which boss dies before warlocks dots ticks? They'll prob run out a couple of times before the boss dies lol . But Demo locks are also incredibly strong in pve.
@@jackshiraq575 then the locks spec Demonology and use Metamorphosis. If the bosses are dying that quickly, Demo locks will literally top the damage meters. But that’s not a realistic scenario. The only timing aspect that hurts Afflic locks is if the Execute phase is short, because Warlock is the king of execute in wrath.
If I had to add another to the list, it would be Rogue. In PvE they do fantastic damage off the bat with Assassination and eventually when you switch over to Combat they do really well through the end. There are a few classes that can get higher (especially when Fire and Fury go insane) but they are just fucking solid the whole way through, and bring Tricks. In PvP Sub Rogues have ALWAYS been amazing and give casters PTSD when they hear that stealth sound. They do great in every area of PvP and you can pick and choose which targets you want to take on and which ones you want to run away from.
As a warlock, the only class I couldn't beat in a 1v1 was death knight, and that was maybe because I didn't know their playstyle all too well (I drove myself apart since everyone was playing DK at the time). Wrath was my favorite expansion simply because rogues were well balanced even in 1v1.
I liked tbc better as a rogue main for this very reason. Cloth wearers, just shouldnt be able to survive a 1v1 against a rogue let alone win. They were truly balanced in tbc no cap.
To be fair, everything I've heard about early wrath DKs kinda points to them being so broken that they could run basically anything and still be OP. So the fact that you probably had people running different playstyles probably didn't help you out very much.
Logic checks out precisely because rogues are supposed to all-in everything at the start of an encounter in an ambush-style attack. If their kit isnt enough to kill the even weakest characters its just bad design. Once they've used their fuel that's it, unlike other classes meant for more sustainability. That's how I see it, and to answer the other guy yes im also okay with not surviving some plate wearers. Everyone has their counters that's just how it is. Oh and yeah I was indeed a sad child back in wotlk days lmao @@phillipbotter6470
I used to annihilate with mm hunter with as much ap as I could get in wotlk. And to be honest, I would tank in blood spec with frost presence on while everyone else tank in frost spec. Way better in blood spec because you are damn near unkillable.
I'm definitely going paladin in wrath, probably focusing on holy with a prot off spec for farming and shits and giggles in dungeons. Paladins are just so good in wrath!
Hey @Toyhouze thanks for this nice video it almost made me wanna play that Holy Paladin or even the Destro Warlock haha As a main Shadow Priest in SL i wish i could have your tought on this spec and on the Priest class overall in WotLK
Seems like you never seen 100% arp prot warrior my friend in PVP. Also, DK is not the best tank in 3.35. It actually is Paladin. Best overall tank. DK is best in some specific tasks.
Tanking at range is np at all for any tank, you just have a couple rogues that have tricks of the trade glyph spam it on who ever you want to have aggro.
i remember my paladin on private servers. basically, almost 92% block/parry/dodge chance, and 60% parry/dodge almost impossible to not reduce damages or just evade damages, and this, without any specific abilities, your basic spells you'll launch in a battle, and that's it, nothing crazy. (it was obviously with the bests items i could get, mainly 10 heroic raid and some 25 heroic. which mean i still didn't had the full set of the bests items, so you can easily get a full 95%block/dodge/parry rate if you get the best of the best). and you deal good damages. pve prot paladins are gods when not against magic. it was simple, you check what's the boss. if he deal magic, the lead tank is a death knight. if it's something else, take a paladin to just absorb thoses damages.
@@egizela5022 no, they are not in the same legue as holy pals. U want a disc priest in the raid sure. But that doesn't mean it's the same legue as holy paladins. holy paladin is BY FAR the best pve healer its not even a comparisson.
Hey Toyhouse, thanks for the help with paladin. I am aoe grinding with the help of Your previous vid. lvl38 at the moment. And I was wondering should I try to do ZF from 40 or no? Also I have engineering and don't know if I should go goblin or gnomish. Please help.
I have a 70 prot pally came back about 2 months ago and I am under geared but I manage heroics, im making a DK for my dps class in hopes to catch up w a group to get gear w
ok, nice list, my list is: MM Hunter, Fury warrior(raid)/MS warrior (Arena), rogue(early season) They all can abuse the most broken stat in existence: ArP. That stat alone screwed class balance, its a tragedy.
@@da.de.7915 Mostly ICC/S8 PoV. Since everyone starts playing with the latest patch, its allready a weird expierence and nothing like vanilla wotlk, it had seen several class changes that are not reflected by those classic phases. For instance, in s5/naxx gear phase in the original wotlk unholy dks are simply broken op and nothing compares at all. This is not reflected in classic wotlk - the only outcome that is definately going to be is, that warrior and hunters will dominate with ArP gear - personally i might not even play in earlier phases there is no point wasting time, you can play something like a shadowpriest or affliction lock, just to see, how you turn into garbage (PvP wise) once we got the last phase with the BIS gear. And i would only focus on PvP in wotlk, because i did nothing but raid in wotlk, no reasion to repeat the same thing. So just for me its only interesting to play from a PvP PoV as i had little time to do so back in the days, and ArP dominates, shadowmourn dominates too other classes that i did not mention are just behind in terms of personal power and only work in arena comps.
Paladin... is by FAR the most OP class. Best tank... nothing even close. Best healer... and that is not an exaggeration. DPS? Ret is A tier. I disagree about DKs being OP in pve. They are strong... but that is mainly due to their AoE. ST... they are an A tier class. Locks are kind of the same boat. They don't do the best AoE any more ( still very good...) and they are not the top tier single target DPS either... but they are strong and will be needed ( demo and aff for raid utility on top of their dps...). Thing about wrath... there is no "bad" pick. Any class has a good dps spec. We've all pretty much already played DKs and it was my main back then. But I have no desire to play a 3.35 DK. They became a little better than average DPS wise during 3.35. Tanking they are very good... but nowhere as good as a pally. PvP? Don't get fooled by everyone saying DKs just run the game. There are at least 3 classes that can make short work of DKs.... and that you will have to figure out on your own (hint: one is a priest...).
How will death knights do dungeons on the fresh servers when the game first comes out? Going to be a bunch of 55 dks at launch with no healers. Can you just do a 5 man with 5 dks?
That's actually quite missleading. While PPal is pretty good, DK won't be. And while warlocks are not bad overall, they still weren't "top" dps. Stable hard near top, sure. But throughout whole expansion it was constant competition between warriors, rogues, dk's and mages. Other classes went right into the middle. And sadly for DK 3.3.5 nerfed them all over. And right now probality of those nerf's sticking in LK classic are pretty high.
Though I have to correct myself, all that I've said above are only about pve. Pvp is another story altogether, personally I didn't play pvp except BG so I won't be going out from good standpoint, but as far as I remember mostly successfull setup in 3x3 arena was RMP (Rogue/Mage/Priest)
@@teebu947 well yes, it was strong, until it wasn't. It wasn't exactly "with patch 3.3.5 we will nerf dk as whole", that was my mistake, sorry. It was accumulated changes and "fixes" that made dk lag behind all other "top dps" classes in endgame content. If I remember that correctly it was some symbols change, also "fixes" for self-healing that bdk had. Also keep in mind that most info is pretty old or incorrect in terms that either it collected from private servers (which is dubious at most) or from old 3.3.5 era dps statistics. And dps statistics for DK was closer to hi-middle than the top.
@@arkstone You are right. All we know is either 12 years old and not easy to find or coming from private servers which might be incorrect. I guess we will have to wait for the beta in order to see the direction the game could take. I'm still torn between the pvp and pve potential of ret, fury/arms and dk.
Ret dps is never S teir. It catches up abit on the top teir dps but its the difference between being 35-40% behind an assasin rogue at the start to just 20% behind a combat rogue by the end. You will never take more than one ret pala in a raid. They are around the same place shadow priests, ele shaman ect are, they can be played but no raid wants them.
@@farabove5712 no it's not. it is objectivly speaking an A-Btier. Holy paladin, arms warrior, unholy DK, elemental shaman, MM hunter, disc priest, feral druid. Those are 100% better specs in arena. U can argue that sub rogue and frost mage are also better in arena, as well as Ret paladin and enhance shaman and also destro lock. Although SP is really good in 2v2 and absolutly works with rogue and frost mage, it's still a pretty bad spec for 3v3. U can make ur arguements about being good and stuff but be as good as u want... the class is still worse than everything i mentioned in 3v3 in equal skill levels.
@@getrehkt3139 ofc it will end soon enough. Locks can drain all the mana of a target and spam it non stop. Dots will do their job eventually and hpalla or any healer won’t have mana or regen mana at all.
yes and no. the warlock in tbc was op because it pumped great damage whiles having a spec that chunks pvp and open word content. warlocks are overpowered this time because every spec brings raid wide buffs, including demonic pact which is almost a necessary pick in raids to keep healing and caster dps up, and on top of that they have some of the best dps with even destro (the weakest spec in pve) having middle of the pack to massive burst dps.
Played SP a bit in the original, was almost always in top tier dps in raid. Just be careful during trash pulls and add waves bc you generate tons of threat. Make sure you are raiding with either a pally or dk tank that knows how to grab aoe threat quick. PvP is a learning curve at biggest draw back is setup time. You also lack a really big burst punch which can be frustrating. You are better off targeting dps first putting pressure on the healers mana pool and saving them for when they get low. Good luck trying to figure out how to kill a holy pally if you get one on one.
Not really, Combat Rogue is trash past certain rating. Arcane mage is trash vs Certain rating, Survival hunter doesn't work as your dots break traps. Fury warrior is just LOL Holy priest will probs be 0.1% of the player base. and Blood DK is garbage. but i think you will see the classes i stated at least 0.1% of the player make it to that rating but its f*cking hard.
What exactly happened to blood dk that people aren't playing it dps? Back when i played wotlk i remember our blood dk was always near the top of the meter.
I love this question. There were an insane amount of nerfs. Heart strike did 100% damage to the secondary target so always hitting two targets at the same time for insane damage. Plus, there was a talent called Blood Aura which was so OP it was removed from the game completely. There's so much more I'm missing, but they gutted the blood DK from all the nerfs and turned it into a tanking spec.
@@Toyhouze Ahh thats a bummer. It makes sense why all the private server people are saying its terrible when i remember it being a top dps spec. If private servers start on last patch after all the nerfs of course they'd think its bad. Thanks for the explanation!
@@lankeysob you can still dps with it fairly well, just much worse than the other 2 specs. On private server i played one, and did decent dmg, but yeh its not amazing. Definitely much higher and more viable than BM hunter or frost mage in my experience so it didnt feel like a meme
i've heard their won't be a level threshold to create one ( You used to need a lvl 55 before you could create a DK) If that's true, get ready to see a loooooooooot of DK
Doubt it most people already have a favorite class they will stick with. I mean sure I'll be running a Dk cause in retail wrath I only played casters. Arcane mage dps was Insane
You can go frost tank or blood dps too. Dont worry ;) Blood dps with 100% armor penetration and highend capped strength you hit 25-30k death strikes in icc
Then in Cata both paladin and warrior are dogshit as tanks people just take dk and druids...sure warrior gameplay is one of the best ever so much fun with the mobility.
PALA... everyone talks 'bout how broken they are in Wotlk. They are strong but not broken. I played for over 10 years on Wotlk-Private-Servers. He has a lot of Pro's instead of Contra's like ALL 3 speccs are playable in both pve&pvp, not like other classes (BM, frostmagepve, ...) He got great solo clearing and content, specially Prot. But all this can be done with every class! It depends on your playstyle and ... your skill! Most people know or remember the strong times from palas in the latest patch and the strong icc tierset. But they forget that 3/4 time of Wotlk are not this strong phase! There Dps average, maybe higher depends on your skill. People just remember the short time they shine. Maybe because most private servers are on 3.3.5 and ICC for years now and palas have there "short" time-to-shine for years now. Think of it... Blizzards Classic-serias will has an end guys.
