If I were to pick an under-rated, I would pick the Christmas cover by Johnny Craig, Vault of Horror #35. That cover is comically bananas and has finally started to pick up steam in the last couple of years. Also really like Crime Suspenstories #17, that is shocking enough when you think someone is blowing someone else's brains out right on the cover, but it kicks up another notch, when you look in the mirror behind him. To me, that is one of EC's most graphic and dark covers. Definitely not one to hang for company to see.
I dabbled into PCH 3 yrs ago - but soon realized that it's not for me. They have cool art and all but the genre didn't trigger any "nostalgia feels" that brings joy to me as a collector. Given the price at that time, I decided to focus on my X-Men and FF Silver Age run (during that time mid grade PCH is comparable to key mid to higher grade Silver Age marvels). No regrets. Now that Silver Age Marvels are through the roof, maybe it's time to reconsider adding some PCH to the PC, especially these undervalued issues. Thanks for making this video.
Love the collab guys. A video request of all 3 of you (and the community). If you were asked to build a collection to represent the diverse history of comics and can only pick one comic to represent each category, how would you define these categories (by age? publisher? genre? etc) and what would be your lineup?
✌️🎃You gentlemen did a stupendous job on the videos! It was VERY fun and VERY informative. It’s nice to know that I’m on the same wavelength as you guys! Thanks again Swaggle! Happy Halloween! Be safe and be well.
I do collect these and funny that I was born in 1953 at a time where these were available. Ever notice that almost all of the woman on these covers are dressed in red.
