In this video I share with you guys my first Pre-Code Horror Grail Comic Book - at least the grail for me. I've now become a TRUE comic book collector dipping my toes into the PCH craze. Chamber of Chills #19 is obviously the go to book, but #21 is my personal favorite and so happy to add it to the collection. I also talk about what key factors makes a PCH book valuable or desirable in the market and also discuss how I was able to figure out the price I needed to pay at heritage auctions.
Then at the end of the video I share with you guys my special announcement - I wrote a Comic Book! A Lovecraftian pulp adventure called SANITY.

That book has great color! Love it! Another PCH book thats going to be off the market for a long time, enjoy! Dipping your toes, silly collector, there is no such thing, 1 becomes 3, 3 becomes 10, and blam! your selling books you never thought you would just to get the next PCH fix. I first started collecting PCH back in 1995, it all started because I liked Blue Bolt 106 cover by LB Cole, it was a sci-fi cover but he did many great horror covers so I was hooked. I just wish I used all my collecting dollars to buy nothing but golden age back then but I was buying current books too. These PCH books are going to disappear into collections once again, they really came out of the woodwork with the price jumps, but eventually you could see books with no sales because they are in collections.

Welcome aboard! You are in sync with many collector's who each have that certain cover that appeals to them. It can be so many things. Some like skull covers, spider covers, particular artists, etc. I must admit that every time I purchase a silver or bronze age book I ask myself what precode or golden age comic I could have bought. You did nab a beauty. Love the purple cover too.

I own a Chamber of Chills 19 in 7.0. Bought it raw for $95.60 off Ha in 2006. I also have a Venus 19. 19 is a great number in the hobby.

@@Swagglehaus Question Mr. Swaggle. As a hypothetical, if this comic does well would you consider publishing a comic (or series) that is similar to silver/bronze age superhero style. I think that there is definitely still a market for that among adults who read comics as kids, and for younger kids who are into graphic novels. I can see it now the new marvel age of comics Swaggy Comix Co.

If u have trouble tracking down the originals, reprints are readily available. The entire EC library, for example. Gasp... good lord... choke! :-)

it's a different formula (to determine pricing) when you plan to hang the book in a prominent place compared with say, something that will never see the light of day again until your death

These PCH books seem pretty cheap compared to Marvel/DC books of the same age. Also, congrats on writing your comic book! Have you ever thought about not coloring the book and leaving it black and white? might give it a unique quality that separates it from others.

My particular copy is relatively "cheap" compared to some of the other ones out there. We did consider keeping it black and white, but I think a bit of an edgy color scheme is where we are landing.

Nice! Dope cover. I love the COC covers but when it comes to reading the stories I think EC books really are a step above but I'd love to get a few of these books I have a Tales From the Crypt 33, the Crypt Keeper origin which is a great and hilarious book :)
