You could argue that since you can start with bull too, you can make it more impressive, with 170/161 - 161/170 - 170 for a 9 double start with two big fish at the same time. It would also be the smarter version, since the pressure is biggest near the end so get rid of the odd triple in the middle or the start (Bull, T17, T20) MvG has been trying to do a regular 9-darter lately where he finishes on 170 on purpose, not happened yet though, 180 - 151 (Bull, T17, Bull) - 170 would be the showboat way.
The best of all time in my opinion doesn't even make the list? Quite simply . . . . . John Lowe. When the wires were 4 times the size and the darts were twice the size. By far the best ever 9 darter!
Well, there is lots of pressure playing in front of an audience at an exhibition. It would be too much for everyday/amateur players. But professionals can handle an insane amount
Amazingly, there have been 3 televised 9 darters with a double start and James Wade was involved in all three! The one against Brendan Dolan and then the following year, both him and Robert Thornton hit one in the same match :)
Phil Taylor himself once said something like "If your opponent is SO strong, you just want to win the next leg. You don't think about the 9-darter. You want THAT leg. Because if both players are on their top level every leg is important." And with saying so this is an indirect and HUGE compliment towards James Wade, because he always used to make his opponent show his best performance in order to beat him. And I really guess: That's it! =)
Best leg of darts ever.......Going out on a bulls eye trumps all finishes and Wade yet again is like a magnetic to 9 darters.........I want play him hahahaha.
Here's my top 5: 5. Willie Borland against Bradley Brooks in the 1st round of the 2022 World Darts Championship (Honestly one of the best 9 darters thrown at the WDC) 4. Adrian Lewis against Gary Anderson in the finals of the 2011 World Darts Championship (First 9 darter ever thrown in the finals of the WDC) 3. Raymond van Barneveld against Brendan Dolan in the 2nd round of the 2010 World Darts Championship (RVB's second 9 darter in the WDC) 2. Paul Lim vs Jack McKenna in the 2nd round of the 1990 World Darts Championship (First WDC 9 darter ever thrown) 1. Gerwyn Price vs Glen Durrant in the 2nd round of the 2019 Czech Darts Open (9 Darter to end the match)
Can remember Taylor with two nine darters against wade I think wade has been on the receiving end of a few nine darters. The Scottish lad who got a nine darter in the worlds to win the match after the match being all square was fantastic
Damn, that list is definitely debatable. Clearly Rob Lowe's 1984 9 darter should be on here and if you want to make an exception, the 1st 17 darts of Van Gerwen when he damn near went back to back
The greatest nowdays is when Gerwen finnish it with T19 B D20! The 9 darter Gerwen did against Barnevald when He was 17 years old should be on the list to.
Yeah, given the circumstances and the fact it was never done and the fact Dolan is Irish makes it the best 9 darter I believe. Even though its been done since.
Amazing! I noticed a couple of things: 1. In 4 of the 5, each guy was congratulated by their opponent.......except MVG (twat) 2. Wade asking the crowd to be quiet while Dolan was playing.....great sportsmanship
Not sure, seems MVG is trying to make contact to congratulate him several times. But Kim doesn't look at him once. Then he seems to say congratulations to Kim acknowledged by Kim with a pad on the shoulder? Anyway, I do agree he could look more appreciative, if for no other reason than for his own sake. Otherwise ignorant people may call him a twat :)
Paul lim I remember that but the other most important 9 darter is the last game as need a bull or double to start then a ( dart finish is the most difficult one to get 9 dart finish.
3:18 this is when it gets real. The speed Michael van Gerwen plays at (although this is the other guy getting the 9 dart finish and he's also very fast).
It has probably been done before but I would love to watch some go for bull to checkout. Two 180's followed by a triple 17, double 20 and bull to checkout.
@@tyhill8313 yes he did. But not the way I said it. Checkout with a triple 17, double 20 and a bull. He checked out with a triple 20, a triple 17 and then the bullseye.
Hit a 9 darter today. Was I happy? You'd think so but no. I was fuming. The treble 12 was off centre. But that's the fuel I need. The fuel I need to improve. 11 darter, here I come.
