@AngrySnowboarder and @tributeboardahop seem to have very different opinions on the mega death, now I don't know what to do. Save money on buying something they agree on I guess 😅
New season already, good to see everyone healthy and well. And you've redeemed yourselves by mentioning the K2 Alchemist. At 190lbs. / 10.5 I have two. And with posi posi angles can be ridden fast yet they soak up the vibrations. Four hours hard charging at Louise and then back again the next day - that's what rec riders want, a board that is max fun yet doesn't punish. Thanks to JStone .
You guys should ride the Chris Roach Academy. I would say it makes my top 5, maybe even number 1. Powder, pipe, rails, chutes, gates, cliffs, parks, picnic tables etc etc etc.
I'm not a fan of fancy graphics on the soles, but the Kazu is the exception. What a beauty! I also love the pointy tips, like the first sick stick or the powder snake. I want that shape back, I love it.
My Daily right now is a 2023 Yes Great's Uninc 159 With Now Select Bindings, Finally the 2019 Twin pig became a Rock/Spring board, Did a great job. Otherwise it's Orca, PYL, Peacekeeper.
Extra $200 for megadeath is playing down the cost quite a bit. $1000 USD is easily $500 more than many other boards. Especially when you lead the vid with a capita plug, we get it but not everyone got that kinda dough
I'm so stoked for the Mega Death! Seems like a sweet ride, and the hype its been receiving is so real haha. How would you compare the Mega Death vs the Mega Merc? I'm personally torn between these two boards, and it just seems in every review the Mega Death overshadows the Mega Merc. Thoughts?
Hey Tribute, great video! Would love to hear your thoughts on Stranda snowboards. Perhaps for your carving episode? Great freeriding boards, getting well recognized in Europe Thanks
that's really interesting about the magnetraction on the BNKD Country. ever since experimenting with my 1st mervin board way back when (a 2010 skate bannana that i bought at Rossland) I've taken a stone and ground down the front half of my magnetraction edges and blended it back to release the front but keep the bite at the rear
Kazu is pronounced Ka-zoo!” It’s not pronounced “kaaaaa-zoo.” The Kazu wins on the best graphics. The rival on best graphics, i feel, is the Libtech Retro Ripper for the past two years. The dragon in the water for the 23-24, and Japanese lady with the Samurai Sword on the 22-23, were the best i have seem, art wise. Great video, great banter between the two. Good job!
Shout out to my local hill, Seymour. Tony should do a demo day at seymour *hint hint* instead of only cypress. Will look into the kazu once my jones explorer needs to be replaced. Got a nidecker beta apx in 162 end of last season, can’t wait to use it in the B.C.interior this season. It was so much fun when i demoed it at ScrApex. Got beta over alpha for more snow surfing and groomer carving. Love all the tribute videos, learned so much from you guys. Can’t wait to come back to Nelson one of these days to visit the tribute shop.
With a size 12 boot , I must ride a 27,5 waist width if I don’t want to boot out on deep heel side carves. So my daily driver is a 161 Gnu Gremlin ! Mark gives it a great review in 2023 in the 155 size .
@@tributeboardshoplove your work guys ! Keep it going, I have been following you since the beginning and I have been a fan of Mark in his alpine years ! I actually meet him in the Gorge for a very brief moment . Kudos for your work and thank you !
Looking forward to the eventual carving video as I'll be in the market for one probably next season. Though I do hope it's more focused on boards designed primarily for carving and not all-mountain boards that carve well.
thoughts on the nitro alternator a old school design board kinda like the aeronaut but without the zero camber sections and wider nose designed more for backcountry freestyle
Thanks for the reviews! How would you size the Gnu Banked Country for a 6´, 185lbs, size 12 boots, confident long term rider. Really mixed use from resort, trees, powder and off piste mountain riding. Like jumping both side hits, natural features but also jumps in the park. I am also a surfer. A bit too much for one board, I know.... :-) I was thinking the 160W but after your review I thought perhaps the 163W.
I'm curious as to what makes you guys like wide's so much. I am a bigger guy 6'2" 210-220 depending on fitness and have a size 10 boot. I've never ridden a wide as I always just figured my feet weren't big enough to warrant a wide board. Also, for the Mega Death, Capita recommends the 161W for up to 210 lbs and the 162 for 210+ (only .5cm wider on the 61W). I found a deal on a 161W from last year and am considering picking it up. Do you know what changed between last year and this year? I heard it is a bit thicker core?
Bought the Mega Merc last year as it's an awesome all mtn choice that still let's me butter quite nicely. Would butters still be possible with the Mega Death and how different is the ride feeling to the Mega Merc in general?
Problem I’m finding is height and weight for boards. I’m 5’6” and 160lbs, maybe 175 with gear etc) and my centre to centre on bindings is 520mm. Most boards I’m finding at the 150-152 etc are wider stance of 540 min and can’t go more to rear without stretching out more than I’d like. 🤷♂️ Riding arbor formula rocker last couple of years and not loving it really Ideas ?
Yo` thanks for the awesome looks on boards,, hey do you guys ever wanna review amplid surfari/pentaquark? on my list as a mega carver with an air tendency,, and daaaamp so i heard,, curious what your thoughts might be , Bauers the man, fear of a flat planet when i was a kid got me hyped.,, love it , and keeep shredding the gnar and touching the void
love this. Have you tried the Sims UAP? looking at that or a Korua transition finder in 160. 190lbs 12 boots 6ft.3 maybe a Megadeath one day when i can afford it:)
They said don't get hung up on the weight ranges, not that it doesn't matter. It's a combination of all 3: weight, boot size, height. Height especially matters if you're not of "average" build. For riders that are tall and lanky, or short and heavier, they could easily be misled by just reading the weight ranges for a board.
Hi guys! I got already DOA. Now Im looking for more all mountain board, which board would you suggest for a board mostly focus on pow but also some ripping on grommers? One of those or I should go for some powder quiver?
The Descender is Stranda's All Mountain board and the best board I have ever ridden. Its too bad theses guys haven't got on one cause I guarantee they would love it.
@@tributeboardshop I have three cafe's in the quiver... two reg and a plus Shop Local for the win you guys rock!! ... :-) KORUA!!! all the way All the time.. Otto for the biggest win tho.. def my fave board ever... (yes i'm that Jason)
I'd say it depends on how much more you're planning on pushing your progression. The crew at the shop are all rippers, so they approach their reviews from that POV. Some of these boards were designed specifically for professional riders, and they handle like that: the Kazu, for example, wants to haul ass all the time, and is not going to do you any favors if you're just cruising all day. I've ridden 4 of these 6, and the Kazu is my current daily driver. If you want a board to grow with, that will keep up with you as you progress to riding steeper technical terrain at faster speeds, I'd say get the Otto or the Banked Country, from this list. Maybe the APX, but I haven't ridden that one. If you want something more approachable, some of these have "cousins" in their brand's line ups, like the regular Nidecker Alpha or the Jones Frontier, that are easier to ride, and will still handle well in all conditions.
Thanks for the review. I am 5’10” and 165lb. The boots is US 10.5. I am interested in Kazu and Mega Death. Could you recommend the size? Since my boots are big, I am wondering which waist width fits for me.
Hey! I’m the same height and weight but a size 7.5 boot and I’m riding a 160 Kazu this season. A 10.5 foot is kind of the breaking point for a wide board so I’d say go for the 161W! Where are you riding? This can affect a decision as well
I just subscribed to your channel. Just don’t make these videos weekly as you will upset a particular Angry person and he might treat you guys like a family of fat skiers sitting on the middle of a run having a fat family picnic reunion
Recommending a $1000 snowboard in the all mountain category as a daily driver seems egregious. You want something that’s going to be durable and hold up over the use of over 100 days resort riding this thing is like a Ferrari that stays in your garage and maybe comes out 4 times a year lol y’all are so out of touch it’s not even funny. Also would it kill you to add some time stamps to save some time on all the talking points that have nothing to do with snowboards.
