October is a great month in bass fishing! Fall bass fishing is in full swing and bass are feeding on shad and small baitfish. If you're not taking advantage of the Fall fishing you'll be singing the blues when Winter rolls around so get out there and catch those fish! Today we're covering the top 5 baits (its more like 15) to help you catch fish in October.
If you're fishing in October and don't have a topwater tied on, you've already screwed up. Rule #1... Don't leave home without a walking topwater bait! There are some other great ways to catch fish as well but nothing is as exciting as topwater strike! Of course there are times they don't want to eat it and that's where these other lures come into play. Some fish will move shallow, others will move deep, but we've got baits that will help you target these fish no matter where they hide.
Below you'll find links to all the baits discussed in the video. We've included our favorite sizes and colors for each model as well as any rigging components you'll need. We've also included a couple of our favorite rod and reel combos to help cover the bases for this style of fishing. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

That's right! If I'm fishing in areas with bordering gamelands, (we have quite a bit of that in NC), I bring my bow in the boat. I fish out of a Go-Devil duck/mud boat, outfitted for fishing. I have had success taking deer before, by beaching my boat and putting a stalk on them. Those deer aren't expecting hunters to approach by water, as they've watched fishermen all year in boats, and not been harmed by them.

Hey Tim & Matt! Great video as always, Tim. A question that a lot of viewers might be asking themselves... When fishing a river system, points come out often angling downstream. How would you position your boat and which angle should you cast from? Should you cast upstream and retrieve the length of the point downstream or come across the point as if you are chopping a carrot? Do you ever retrieve coming up against the current? Thanks, gentlemen!

Great video Tim! Not sure if y’all get mystery tackle box or not, but I think it’d be sick to see y’all catch a fish on every bait that comes in one so we can see how y’all use the baits and how long it takes to catch a fish on every bait. I know other channels do it but the way you and Matt explain your reasoning behind everything y’all do on the water and how exactly to use different baits, I think it’d make for a really cool video.

I dont know if it would be to much of a hassle to do. But I would love to see a retrieving tutorial video with multiple views at once. You have one camera on you filming your rod and reel manipulation and at the same time showing a underwater View of the bait reacting to the manipulation of the rod. 15-20 second clips of different baits and or retrieval methods. I know personally being able to see the cause and effect would be extremely beneficial.

I wouldn't focus too much on the vegitation. If you have coves or small bays or something the bass can corner the bait fish I would focus on that. Start with a handful of the small to medium sized ones and then move on to the bigger ones. Especially good coves are the ones connected to deeper water nearby. You'll have to experiment a little to find the best ones. If you don't have coves then look for something where they can pin them in and pick them off. Don't know your lake so hope this helps.

@terryjohnson666 2 года назад
@@CJones5050 Lol! Yeah, the S-Waver is SUCH a expensive bait. Not! Neither is the 6th Sense. I wonder if you have any personal experience with these guys on which to base your opinion. I doubt it. I think you are maybe just a wee bit jealous. I know them both well and have fished with them in CA and in Mexico. They are fantastic individuals, even better family guys and both had the good sense to marry up! I know for a FACT that they do NOT recommend tackle for profit. They ONLY recommend stuff that has worked well for them in the circumstances described. And most of what they recommend is mid-range or economy tackle. They just really, really, REALLY know how to use it. Oh, well, haters gonna hate but somehow they keep on watching the videos - which DO make money for Tactical Bassin’, as well they should.

@@terryjohnson666 I think you just went off on a rant for no reason my dude. Lol. I was referring to the glide baits I use that are a lot cheaper than the ones he plugged and I have plenty luck with them. I was just referring to the fact that it doesn't have to be a name brand or even a $15-$20 glide bait to catch a fish. Lol. I still watch the videos but my comment still stands that they get money for people using their affiliate link. So... Technically they DO in fact recommend tackle for profit... Since they have THEIR affiliate link in the description. You read too far into my comment man. Lol. I still watch them because I like them.nobosy was hating. I only spoke facts. My son and I have been fishing the creek for a couple months now and have had a good amount of luck. Nothing really big but with catching. We recently had fish bite on 2 different areas that were decent size. Trying to track them down again, they are semi confined to 2 areas. The best bait we have found to date is either a wee or teeny wee crawdad bait by rebel. The 2 spots we have been fishing are only about 4' deep at best. Would really like to land these 2 if possible. Looking for suggestions thought about using one of the suggested flukes.

@@RsLays best thing that helped me with bank fishing was using a contour map. That way you can identify underwater points, humps and drop offs that might be within casting distance. I used Fishbrain for the maps. Helped me find tons of awesome spots that looked like nothing from the bank.

Can you fish a walking bait, maybe a spook Jr or whopper plopper 75 or 90 on a MH Moderate rod with fluro? Great info as always, Thanks man for the vids!

I use braid to mono leader they both float and the mono keeps the trebles from catching the limp braided line.tight lines

7' med/heavy, 12lb. P line cxx, 15lb. big game, 17lb. BPS EXCEL, 14-17lb.sufix seige, or 30 lb.braid can do almost any bait, besides finesse...mono or braid...scratch fluoro for multi-purpose

check out the Daiwa Aird-X 7'3" MH casting rod, only $55, and the Daiwa CR-80 casting reel, only $80. I have the 7' H version of the rod paired with that reel and I use them for topwater baits, and I think they're great for the $. You can use that combo for just about anything and they won't break the bank.
