I’ve never been a Fender pedal or amp fan… but this comparison just made me rethink that stance. The Fender just has a really nice overall tone quality that the others lack. The MXR is a close second.
Hey guys, love the videos! I'm a metal drummer trying to get in to guitar and bass more and your channel has helped a lot with choosing gear. Also just wanna let you know most of the timestamps in the description say 0:00. Don't know if that's just my computer being weird.
I own 28 Distortion pedals all over $150.00 USD most are well over $200.00 USD and a few are over $300.00 USD. They are my measuring stick. I agree the Rat II fits with them and I do have one. There are 2 pedal I do have that sound as good as my pricey pedals. The ATM electronics S-drive is designed imitate a Soldano amp. It is very, very convincing. Nux make the Plexi Crunch ...an obvious Marshall-in-a-Box pedal it is easily equal to others well over $200.00 USD and it is only $50.00 USD. In fact I would put up this NUX as the very best value for money pedal you can buy. It is a bullet proof choice.
Okay, rating time. 1. MXR, amazing tone. Best all around 2. Boss super ds2, heaviest and crisp. Sounds badass 3. Blackstar sounds good, but he didnt crank it. 4.. Fender pugilist, good for light/mid range distortion. Crap low end 5. Rat, really doesnt sound that good. Why people rave about this pedal.
They are all a bit mosquitoey sounding..... you always get what you pay for .... they are all very cold sounding ... i used to have a metal zone ahhhhhh ... it sounded nice on bass... i suppose with a decent amp you are half way there....
