Come on humidifier companies! All we want is 5-6L, top fill, adjustable mist directions, and set/automate humidity settings. It's amazing how none of them have come up with this yet.

Holyfox that humidifier allows you to set a specific humidity, but I prefer the humidifiers that allow you to set an automatic RANGE. Mine will keep it between 55-65%. It uses less water that way 😊

Please consider adding captions (the non auto generated).. also please consider keeping the product name somewhere while your talking about it or next to you. It's very easy to forget which one you are talk about.

I have the big levoit and I purchased it before the craze. But I sometimes I wish I waited because like you said I would love to have a top fill humidifier and the cap is such a pain in the ass to take off. It makes me not want to fill it sometimes. Thankfully I haven’t had to use it this summer or I would be very frustrated lol

Wow I really appreciated the clarity and specific pain points and how you use each filter. And come through with the variety. The first one is so cute! lol. Also love the tee 🙂 I keep seeing in Amazon reviews mentioning a white powder buildup from minerals, from hard water. Can you share anything about these Demineralization Cartriges? Looks like Amazon's top seller is from Homedics for $17. Is the white mineral buildup that serious? I've been using 3 essential oil diffusers in different "zones" or "gardens" in my home lol. But I'm ready to big-girl it, and get a humidifier. I think we have pretty hard water, but I am not buying gallons of distilled water every week, even for my plant babies.

@pancakesmoney
@pancakesmoney 3 года назад
Hey, yes I have. But it’s literally only been about 4-5 days. I use tap water and she (tri star stromanthe) seems to be okay for now. I’ll probably go home re-clean the diffuser and put it on again. It last no where near as long as an actually humidifier though. So I’m guessing that the effect isn’t as helpful,... for an emergency plant it may help for a little.
@timothymatoba
@timothymatoba 3 года назад
@@pancakesmoney is there some serious improvement in how your stromanthe is doing now that you’re using the stromanthe? i’m using pebble trays for other calatheas but actually not for my stromanthe and it seems happy. i’m concerned because it’s getting colder outside and my place gets pretty cold and dry. if i can use a diffuser to counter the dry air well enough then i’ll just use that no doubt

one of my ultrasonics just stopped sonicking and i’m looking for a replacement. where do you live? i am curious about your climate. i’m in minnesota and what would work for me here might be pretty different from a person in tennessee for instance. that last one appeals to me, but if it doesn’t put out enough to do the job the price is a bit high. thanks for your help!
@plantmyhappyspace3477

Regardless of what state you live, almost everyone’s house has low humidity because air conditioning units pull moisture out of the air. If you have extra dry air, I recommend getting one with a larger tank capacity. Around 4-6 liters should work. When you first get the humidifier, it will need to be refilled more often because it’s working in a dry climate. But after a week or two, the moisture will be more consistent in the air and you usually won’t have to refill it as often. Unless you keep your windows open. Then the air will circulate more and you’d be refilling a humidifier constantly regardless of the size.

@@plantmyhappyspace3477 we don’t have AC (except a window unit used occasionally in july) but MN winters and a hardworking furnace do a job on humidity. my main issue is being able to clean the pink scum out of the tiny bits of the humidifier and i don’t find any easy solutions there...but thanks!
@plantmyhappyspace3477
@plantmyhappyspace3477 3 года назад
Look for humidifiers with either a top fill or a large enough hole to fit your hand. Elechomes has some options I’ve been using more recently and I enjoy them. Pour vinegar into the tank and let it sit for an hour. After that, most of the pink stuff will come off on its own. Anything else should be easy to just wipe off after soaking.

Search youtube for a "self watering pot" system. Basically its a 2 pot capillary system. The outer pot is taller than the main pot. The outer pot sits on large rocks with a strip of microfiber cloth lining the bottom and all the way up the side of the outer pot. Then you place the main pot inside of this outerpot. When you flood the inner pot, the excess water falls through the bottom and into the "reservoir" amongst the large rocks. At some point the soil starts to dry and the microfiber will "wick" the water in and amongst the rocks back UP and rehydrate the soil. Some say this promotes gnats because the soil is always wet. also this isn't suitable for plants that you require the soil to dry out completely before watering.

Just remember.. optimal moisture level in a home is 40-60% ... if you go to 75% and above black mold will start to grow and no one wants mold in the house.. health hazard.. My home were at 20% before i started my humidifier this winter season.. I run a Haze PCMH45 with a 30 litre water tank.. Its a big device, also has connection for external water connection so you never need to refill it manually..
