@@itcamefromabox glad they finally responded by saying it wakes the Switch from sleep mode. It's an odd one in that you turn the controller on and shake it to wake the Switch up.
The Pro 2 is certainly very good... But the one I got seems to have a faulty BT switch, because it loves to disconnect if you so much as look at that toggle funny. I had to go through the radical procedure of removing the toggle switch so it wouldn't do that anymore, AND EVEN THEN it would still do it on Android and PC. So until I can figure something out, my Pro 2 is a Nintendo Switch only controller.
Have the Pro Switch Controller, have the 8 bit do PS version controller, BUT I NEED SOMETHING BIGGER. Why? I'm 6 foot 5inches tall = long fingers/hands. Is there a solid Switch controller with BACKPADDLES instead of buttons on the market? Anyone happen to know?
Surprised not to see the Power A Nano Enchanced Wireless Switch Controller. It's an awesome and surprisingly comfortable controller that I tend to use more often than my Switch Pro Controller. That 8Bitdo Lite is such a neat looking thing but I just wish they had a grey or black colour option.
Im kind of annoyed that after five years there's no one perfect controller for everything. Obviously the closest is the Pro Controller and the SN30, but the crappy DPad and bring unable to wake up the Switch are pains in the butts, respectively.
Yeah that's actually why I still recommend the OG pro controller, tackles everything the switch experience needs and most people don't even use the d-pad 🤷♂️
Sn30 pro 2 is the best budget gaming controller period if you pair it with their wireless adapter and you can use it on ps and Xbox and on that it's flat out better. On steam it works better than the elite series two. Btw great video
I've been planning on getting the Pro 2 for a while but none of the stuff I watched/read till now said it doesn't wake the Switch. Ngl, that's kind of a bummer. Not sure if it's a deal breaker but that sucks for me lol.
Kind of surprised not to see Power A wireless controllers or the binbok not listed. I have the binbok and Power A Fusion Pro and think those are some of the best for the Switch. That is my opinion though, love your videos, especially your Nintendo switch ones since I actually bought some items thanks to those videos . Keep up the good work man.
Appreciate your opinion! We went with categories instead with these being the best in 'em. The PowerA fusion line is lacking features at the asking price and binbok's just felt cheap to us :O BUT it comes down to preference! Thanks again for commenting :D
That's how the company pronounces it! I use to say 8bit-DO but i've reached out to them and they say it's DOE. I'll take either though haha There's another brand I used to say as Skull & Company but it's just Skull & Co. lol I was just so used to saying Co. as Company haha
Unless you want symmetrical start/select buttons, back paddles, analog triggers and the easier profile switching it's basically the same controller so not really unless you really want another one
The splitpad has an official adapter that lets you use it as a standalone controller so you can use it in TV Mode. It's something akin to the joycon grip.
@@itcamefromabox ok good to know. I’ve been trying to buy one but I keep coming cross users and videos saying that 8bitdo controllers are better but I don’t know which to choose. I think I might end up getting the pro Nintendo switch. In the end they all drift at some point.
I’ve been using the 8bitdo Pro 2 for a couple of months and I have to say it’s the best 3rd party controller out there for the Switch. For 50€, you get tons of features (including the ability to remap the buttons and sticks on the fly with the Ultimate Software app) and the build quality is like a 1st party controller.
I loved mine until it started bugging out. It kept disconnecting from the switch while playing even while plugged in. If that stopped happening I would use it a lot more but, now I use my pro controller almost always
Even the 8bitdo Pro+ is good, it's only missing the two buttons at the back and the physical mode switch. You have to switch its mode between pc, android and switch via the app. But besides that, it's still my best pc and switch controller I use it all the time
@@JLchevz I grew up playing with PlayStation controllers so it doesn’t feel that out of place for me. Its layout is much more comfortable with retro games and 2D platformers since the d-pad is at the perfect spot for your thumb. i’m It handles quite well for 3D games, however I use the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller for those.
Great video! I might consider that 8bitdo Pro 2, and the playstation colourway is great! You also reminded me I oughta play with my Legends Arceus Split Pad Pro again 👀
Hey Luigi, we're currently doing a full-time so we're doing weekly videos if possible! There's going to be shorter videos that we could do throughout the week as well :D All that is due to your support
I have the Pac Man split pad pro on my OLED and it seems that I have to give it a little extra push into the dock. Kinda don't like that but it doesn't seem to affect anything.
literally went and found me a 8bitdo pro 2 controller on amazon based on this review. thank you so much for the suggestion. i found it in clear purple and the nostalgia immediately settled in. cant wait to recieve and try it out. thanks
I’m not risking my money to buy chinese controller again. My gulikit kingkong pro controller broke 5 months after buying, and my 8bitdo pro 2 broke 6 months after buying. If you have the money, buy the original nintendo pro controller and for pc buy cheapo wired xbox controller. Don’t buy multipurpose controller, it broke easily in my experience.
Sure it could’ve been copy only, but buying both of them one after another and both of them broke within a year makes me swear not to buy third party controller again. I’m that bummed out.
damn dude. I'm sorry to hear! Yeah, we've had a lot of issues with Chinese controllers before but it seems the ones we have from 8bitdo haven't had as many issues
@@itcamefromabox thank you. I know 8bitdo is among the best in third party controller market, and I know I’m being too harsh towards 8bitdo. But I can confidently say 8bitdo has the best feeling and features among the rest, including the software you get for button mapping and dead zone adjustment. It’s a steal for that price point. Shame my copy didn’t last that long..
I have to strongly disagree about hori split pad. Bought to seperate controllers. Massive joystick failure on both. One drifted down. The other literally got stuck in down position. And i dont hulk smash....controllers anyway
I got all the nso controllers but I got the Japanese sega and Famicom ones. I don't think I can be happier with them but the one I'm very surprised that I love is my retrobit origin8 I got it to play Gameboy and Gameboy advance games and it's quite literally perfect. My next and probably last controller for my switch I am going to make a wireless dog bone with the 8bitdo kit
Probably already done but why not a switch game collection for 2022 would love to get the name of some of the games you play in the video and controller wise it’s a toss up between pro controller and the power a GameCube controller
I have the older 8bitdo and the pro co troller. I used to have joycons but I traded them in after I got the hori compact. And I don't use all of them lol
Personally i think nyxi joycon and/or binbok joycon are better than hori split pad. They are basically hori split pads with motion control and can be use in wireless mode. And if attached in the middle, they can also act as pro controllers
@@itcamefromabox The only issue I had with them was the left joystick getting loose in the middle after using the Binbok for over 5 months, which was when I started playing Paper Mario & Bug Fables, so I’m guessing the button mashing may have caused that issue. Other than that, they were pretty good, though it makes me wonder why they aren’t sold in stores like Walmart or GameStop.
So I have 3 controllers for my Switch and none of them satisfy when it comes to retro games on Switch Online/Retro games. Now I’ve heard that the 8Bitdo Ultimate controller is the best overall controller, but would you still recommend the 8Bitdo Pro 2 for retro (mostly 2D) games?
Yeah, but the ultimate controller uses hall sticks which makes drift almost impossible which is nice, there's also a 20-30 dollar streamlined version of the ultimate controller coming in a few months called the "ultimate c" so keep an eye out
I've been using my matte black Power A pro controller, has not crapped out, amazing battery life for casual gamers like myself who have kids and can't get a lot of gaming in, it also wakes the switch not sure on rumble as I don't really enjoy it and same for motion control
The 8bitdo pro 2 replaced it! It's still a good controller but when testing it side by side I kept choosing the pro 2. regardless, both are a solid pick!
@@itcamefromabox I feel like the 8bitdo pro 2 only excels in 2d gaming, because the PlayStation like layout is very uncomfortable for me when playing 3d games.
It's still a great controller, but because we went with five different categories, the 8bitdo beat it! build quality is much better and it's much more reliable
I've already got the Hori Split Pad Pro and I love it. I don't even play in handheld much, but it just feels more substantial when I have to handle the Switch. Definitely worth the buy. They even make nice heavy duty cases for it! I also want the one you showed right after the Hori. It seems like the perfect controller to take along in a case. Right now, I mostly play the Switch docked, using the OLED joy cons, plugged into the charging grip. Eventually when the joy cons give out, I'll probably pick up the pro controller instead.
The Pro Controller has issues with drift after so much play. It also can lose contact with face buttons. I’ve had two Pro Controllers die on me and have been using the 8bitdo SN Pro2 for docked and the Hori Split Pad Pro for handheld.
The 8BitDo Pro2 is nice, but I don't like the where the Capture and Home buttons are. I think it would be better to place both of them in the center where where Select and Start buttons are.
