This really hits home for my family. I have a niece, who's 15, with mental, and physical disabilities. My niece has the mental capacity of a 5 year old, and she takes human growth hormone, because her pituitary gland doesn't function. She will always be a child, no matter how old she lives till. I really hope Shana finds a life for herself in such a big world.

They keep talking about Shauna being jealous of Tara. But when your sibling has disabilities, you can be really jealous of them too. Shauna is the centre of attention, she gets constant thought and care, she has her own show. It's hard as an older sister because you want to be supportive, but it's hard for you too. I say this as someone with a younger sibling with disabilities. It's a really different family dynamic.

I'm so fascinated and in awe of this girl. If I ever saw her out I'd totally have to tell her she's the best. Her struggles are real, and empathic people just want to help her live normal I guess. Hi Shauna, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was 40, living on my own and my Beloved Mother whom I lost last year, still wanted to know everywhere I went. Although we are supposed to have patience as we age, I was very much lacking in that at age 40 because it annoyed me so much as it does you. My Mother always said, as many mothers say, wait until you get older or wait until you have children. Well, I can tell you that now at age 66 and also having children, I understand why my Mother was so protective. I don't deny that it is annoying, but when you start getting annoyed, count to 10 and remember that your parents love you. All the best. Gina

I have to say, in the scene where the stepfather was asking her where she was going, who she was going with, when she'd be home, and to text him the location of where she was going didn't really seem out of the norm to me. Then again, I'm someone with multiple disabilities and while living with my mother before I was married, it was just common courtesy to tell her where I was going and who I was with. Mind you, I'm also almost 30 years old, and I would still tell her where I was going and what I was doing if she asked me. I don't know I guess I see that more as a safety thing rather than a hindrance to independence. I mean you never know what's going to happen, with all the craziness that's going on in this world. I don't know maybe it's just me that feels that way.
