the theory about dustin sacrificing himself to save steve after seeing eddie die is so sad to think about. dustin is by far my favorite character, i’d cry for months if that happened.

Max being in a coma, possibly brain dead, is worse than if she actually was killed off. The Duffers were considering offing Max, but found that they liked working with Sadie too much.

I really will be sad when it’s over. I got my Mom into it and then it became a family thing. She died of cancer a little over a year ago. She’d come over, when she was healthier, and stay at my apartment all night on Tuesday nights (my dad had to stay in another city for work) and we’d stay up and watch tv and do a book club and eat awesome food. She’d usually stay until the sun was up on Wednesday! We’d rewatch each season before the next one came out. This was the first time I got to watch Stranger Things with my husband, which was wonderful (I met him after season 3 was out). But… man, I miss my Mom. It’s another end of an era she isn’t here to see, and she should be. All I can do is light a candle in the sculpture that holds her urn when I watch it and imagine what her reaction would be. It’s all there is, but it’s not enough.

I don't think el's gonna die. This may be unpopular, but the amount of main characters it's going to affect... the duffers aren't that brave. I just think she'll overuse her powers in the finale battle and she'll loose them once and for all, with no chance of getting them back. That way, she can lead a normal life as hopper's adopted daughter or something. I think will has a much greater chance of dying than el actually, he started it so he'll end it. I lowkey think el's going to end up having to kill him because he's a huge part of the hive mind

People don’t show enough respect to Murray he was the main part of why max didn’t die

Plot theory: Max is trapped in Vecna’s mind, so Eleven plans to in there and save her, but she has to take Will with her so he can sense whenever Vecna comes. But instead of it being a regular rescue mission, they fall right into Vecna’s trap and this is where he starts to influence Will negatively and we see just how close their connection is

The fact that the Upside Down is frozen in 1983 is key. Will is the one holding on to the past, and he is melded somehow with Vecna. In season 5, I predict everyone gets killed off in the fight…and Will watches it all burn. Will with El makes the sacrifice…she is the child who created the portal, and Will filled it in. They both have to sacrifice themselves to reset the world to 1983…Will’s funeral happens because he dies by drowning, and El never escapes to meet the gang. Everyone else resets to 1983 like only Will died in a freak accident, and the town goes back to normal. So, you kill off everyone to have El and Will save them and reset the world. Happy ending, yet sadly tragic.

They're going to tie Will's death back to season 1 with the whole, "He didn't have to cast fireball. He could have cast protection and saved himself, but that isn't Will."

I agree with most of this. To be honest, Max is the safest one. Killing her again, especially since her arc is incomplete, would be terrible writing. She will survive. Will and Steve on the other hand are very likely to die (over 90% probability).

Mike is most likely to die because in will's painting he is the heart of the team and in Nancy's vision she saw her family dead including Mike so it's possible that Mike is definitely going to get killed off in the Next Season.

i physical laughed when you were talking about mike and the pizza freezer speech. he dose not love el (at least not romantically) will literally told him to say that speech and most of it was just talking about her being a superhero. also killing off the person in the middle of the love triangle seems counter-productive. maybe its just me but i feel like el will die and not any of the main four boys that we started with

My personal theory is that El is going to die. Max will help her fight Vecna while she's in his mind. When she regains consciousness at the end of the season, she'll still be blind and will probably need loads of physical therapy, but she will survive. I don't think anyone else in the core group (the original 4) will die. If they do, it'll be Will. Otherwise I think any other death will be a secondary character we are all attached to. Like Robin or maybe Jonathan sacrificing himself to save Will.

The one character that is least likely to be killed is Nancy Wheeler, which means either Steve or Jonathan will be the one to die. I think Steve would be a more obvious choice, that's why it might just be Jonathan. His death could just be something that cancels Will's possible death. Also, if Dustin dies, there will be a riot!!

I think it would be really cool if Will can travel to a void-like place the way El can, but hers is a reflection of the real world and the upside down and Will would be able to find Max in Vena's mind, because that's the only place he can mind-travel to since he has been connected to Vecna since season 1. El would teach Will how to do it and they'd practice together. The two of them defeating Vecna together at the end would be so amazing!

if eleven dies I will be so sad, shes my favorite character and has been through so much already. Especially with MBB's incredible performance, every little facial expression, movement, or flicker in her eyes is so emotional and captivating.

I'm actually worried about Mike too so I am glad you've said it. Vecna hates El, who loves Mike... he is also probably not happy with Will, who spied on him with Mike's help and then escaped the mindflayer. and also loves Mike too He also probably hates Nancy as she shot him and even showed her his death and obviously she loves him. He is connected to pretty much everyone very closely, save for maybe Robin (though she is close to Nancy and Steve who would grieve him, Steve mostly because he feels responsible for all the kids) so it would really hurt the group more than almost anyone else dying. I don't think its a coincidence that Mike was the main character season 1 and tied with Will, the focal point of seasons 2, and El, the focal point for season 3 and yet was so sidelined last season and yet he kept being brought into discussions in Hawkins. I also think its odd how cryptic FInn has been in interviews and they have admitted that he knows some things that others don't (mostly tied to the spinoff but still...) If they kill any of the ones you mentioned I will be inconsolable! The 5 you listed are probably the characters I feel most emotionally connected to.

I don’t see them saving Max last minute just to kill her off again - what’d be the point? I reckon she’ll have a decent role but I think the fact that she was so close to being killed off gives her less chance of actually dying. It’d be like if they decided to kill hopper off in season 4. I’m very concerned about El myself - I think they could do a full circle thing where she has to sacrifice herself as she was doing in the first season.

I think people are overestimating how many main characters will die next season. Apart from Mike and Dustin everyone has a chance of dying but I think only one of the main characters will actually die, Most likely Steven or Eleven

I started watching stranger things a little after season 4 came out. Gosh I wish I could turn back time and experience it from season 1 not knowing what to expect. Not knowing about vecna, max, billy, Eddie, robin and the list goes on and on. Too bad its coming to an end. Im actually gonna start bawling in the first 2 minutes of season 5.

For Steve they could make look like he not gonna get killed off then out of nowhere he gets killed

I think that Jonathan might sacrifice himself for will, since Jonathan hasn’t really play a big role in season 4, therefore, the sacrifice might bring him to the spotlight

Season 1 is all about grief and how Will’s family and friends dealed with his death. Anger, denial, etc. These are all part of the grieving process, and in real life they would all have had to accept his death in the end. If Will finally dies in season five, maybe in a heroic way that would make everyone accept that he is the one who can bring an end to all this by sacrificing himself, then it would complete the circle. Stranger things would be the story about grief and acceptance that was the heart of season one.

I don't think Steve will die, I think murray, robin and will have the most chance to die also I don't think max would die she would get close to death but Lucas would save her and get injured( I can already imagine that ).

I believe Eleven will finally get all her powers that even she doesn’t know she has. As papa said she hasn’t reached her 100% powers. So maybe seeing Mike be in trouble makes her become much more stronger and fight to save the boy she loves. I mean so far Eleven hasn’t killed (!?!) Vecna who is like her (so he believes and told her at the lab). But here I believe Eleven is stronger than him and only people she truly loves (Mike) will reveal it. The connection Will has with Vecna ,Mindflayer and who knows what else is coming. If we go back to the D&D game there are other monsters. Waiting to see if Will has powers (?)! Waiting to see if the game happens in their lives. If it does everything changes. So speculation here can’t happen. Steve to save Nancy maybe. Jonathan to save Will or Nancy maybe. Will to save Mike or everyone maybe. Eleven has failed twice so I am intrigued to see what is really going on with her. Robin is not interesting to me so maybe just die trying to run away or caught by Vecna or something. But Eddie should come back as Vampire Kas to kill Vecna. As in the D&D game.

I could easily see them doing something like trying to get Vecna to realize that he’s in the wrong or some bullshit and Vecna stops it himself, ONLY because I think El sacrificing herself to defeat Vecna would work, except for the fact that Hopper’s arc has been all about his dead daughter and being a curse, so having ANOTHER daughter die for him would kinda backpedal…?

I really only see them doing like 3 deaths at the most. Out of all the mcs, I feel like Jonathan and El have the highest chances of dying, just from an overall narrative perspective. I also think the Dustin sacrificing himself like he saw Eddie do is an interesting theory, and could be true, but if not, I could also see Steve sacrificing himself. Those are the only four characters who i think have a possibility of dying in s5. I gotta say, I also think there’s a lot of hints towards Mike either “dying” or just getting seriously injured, but I don’t believe they will fully kill him off. Also, I disagree with most people about Will? Like he’s one of the safest characters in my eyes.

Imagine if when Steve is dying Nancy's tryna convince him to keep going and she said something like what about that Dream the one about you and me and the 6 kids and then he looks at Nancy and then he looks at the kids and then he says it isn't exactly what I imagined but I'd say I got my dream and then he dies

Who i think might die next season… Nancy: I know for a fact that Nancy, Jonathan, or steve will die. Their love triangle needs to be ended by one of them, (meaning one of them needs to die) even though Nancy is most likely to end it since she started it Jonathan: he could end the love triangle Steve: he could also end the love triangle Will: everyone’s been saying “it started with will, it’ll end with will” and I agree. I’m expecting a nice sacrifice from him El: I think MAYBE el will sacrifice her life. For hawkins… perhaps the world… you know

THEY BETTER NOT KILL MAX AGAIN!!!

I think, Will is going to die in the next season, because, as they’re always saying, Vecna is like a hive mind so they will probably try to kill a bunch of Demigorgans or something, but it just won’t work. And then the group will realize that sense Will was possessed for so long they will have to kill Will in order to weaken Vecna enough to kill him. It will be a really sad ending but it makes a lot of sense.

Im 99% sure they are killing off dustin… just think abt it 1. Gaten said he wanted his character to die 2. It would be so hard for dustin to live without eddie 3. “If you die, i die” So… just think, he was also the last to be in the party, he didnt live close to mike, lucas, or will… dustin just seems like he would sacrifice himself to save everyone!

The whole “goodbye mike” thing. I think the reason she didn’t disappear after the Henry incident is because she was too far away

I think nancy is going to find Jonathan's community college letter and realize he has been lying to him, so she goes to steve. #stancyforever. I also think max will stay in the coma for most of the season. Death predictions 1- Murray. Dies protecting Jopper 2- Robin. Dies protecting Vickie or smth 3- Will. Sacrifices himself after Vecna takes over his body and after realizing he can't escape he gives up 4- Mr. Wheeler. Just a piece of crap and literally does nothing 5- Jonathan. Honestly, my theory is that Will might die in season 5. And I have two reasons as to why: 1: he's the only person that has connections to the upside down 2: The Mind Flayer might just rule over Hawkins in season 5 and if that happens, it would not need Will anymore so it would kill him off.

Dustin saving Steve from being killed would be a tearjerker episode for sure. And Max helping El defeat Henry / Vecna, and Max dying.

Personally I think that. their going to make Steve an involuntary Villan. his bat bites that he received in season four didn't get as much attention as an injury like that needed. Because of this its possible that the bat bites would have done something to him that cause everyone to need to fight him or his body sometime in season 5. I also believe that he will die by temporarily being in control of his involuntary actions and telling someone in the party, probably Robin, Nancy or Jonathan to kill him so he dosen't hurt the kids. I just feel like it would be a very heartbreaking scene and in character for his character. But tgats just my theory. What do you think?

I think that they will kill Jonathan because then Nancy will have no one else to be with though hard time except for Steve and also then Will will fight his life in the replacement of Jonathan because he cares so much about him and get flash backs of all the time they have spent together (like in the past seasons)

The reason El doesn't know if she will die is because she forgot ALL of her memories from the time she sent One into the Upside Down and before. I believe that before both times, she truly believes that she will die. And Vecna, being a part of every villain so far, recognizes what El is about to do and tries to bring her with the Demogorgon back to the Upside Down in the hopes of killing her.

My top 5 for who'll die in season 5 is 5th goes to... Joyce Byers I feel like if they killed off Joyce in season 5 it would've been such a plot twist because of how determined she was to find Will in the first place. I feel that if the idea was considered it probably would've been a major idea that would have us all crying messes. 4th goes to... Dustin! Now If Steve put himself in a position where someone would have to die to save him, It would be dustin because of Eddie's death scene. We were all so heart broken after that but what really broke the fandom was the "I love you, Man" let's be honest. I just think it'd be a really cool Idea (Don't hurt me please I don't want him to die) if they did put him in a position to remind the whole fandom of eddie. 3rd goes to... Nancy Wheeler! That'd be the most tragic death considering when he came back his friends basically ghosted him because of the fact they found girlfriends. He got bullied for coming back which is a main reason I think Vecna will fight Eleven through... Will! I feel Vecna will see himself to well in Will which would make him want to encounter El through will's body. Now If Vecna's soul dies or Will's body dies I have no clue you guys can come up with that yourselves but Those are my top 5!

I have had a vision of Steve's death! This is how it goes: First off, Eddie comes back as a vampire, because he was bit by demobats and died. Steve realizes, uh oh I was bit by demobats too. Not a vampire because he hasn't died. Yet. Later, a whole bunch of characters are trapped in some sort of room in the Upsidedown and toxic air is leaking in, which will kill them. Somebody needs to go out and flip a switch to open a door where they can escape but nobody can get to it without choking and dying. Except Steve. Well, he'll die, technically, but then he'll be resurrect as a vampire. Everyone tries to talk him out of it, but no use, its' Steve, so he goes out there after some big scene with Nancy and Jonathan where he says he hopes they'll be happy together, I really mean it, blah blah etc. The gang tensely waits. The escape door opens and Steve is on the other side. Overjoyed, Dustin yells STEVE!, runs towards him and stops dead, seeing the look on is face. It's Steve, but it's also...not Steve. So the Duffer brothers can have their cake and eat it too, with a Steve Harrington: Vampire Mom spinoff series.

I have a theory that Nancy is going to die. I think this could be possible because she said she saw Mike, Karen and Holly die and the duffer brothers won't just spoil who dies. So I think it's the opposite way which means she dies. It would also make a lot of sense since she is in a love triangle and then she dies leading Jonathan and Steve upset (Which could get them to bond more). Also the guilt of Barbs death could lead to her demise aswell.

Theory: If Steve dies, after Steve’s funeral, we get to see Tommy and Carol again, one last time they look like they’ve been struggling and been through. They apologized to Steve, and realized that they did really bad things and that he was right. It’s a good thing they’ve apologized to Steve now, Tommy H and Carol don’t live in hawkins anymore. It’s probably a good that they’ve finally changed and grew matured on Season 5. Tommy H and Carol: Season 1: Mean Bullies Season 2: Mean Traitors Season 3: Graduated (Offscreen) Season 4: Probably moved out Season 5: Glad They’ve changed.

I definitely think Will is going to die. In D&D lore vecna has these things that are basically like Horcrukes in Harry Potter. Like Horcrukes it has a piece of Vecna soul so another reason why when part of the hive mind is damaged he feels the pain. Who else do we know has a connection to Vecna. Will.

Ngl the scene where Max “dies” and Lucas is crying is amazing acting by Caleb McLaughlin he killed it with the voice cracks and screams it was amazing and Caleb doesn’t get enough credit for that scene

About the "make a deal with god" part, you called vecna an evil god, but i think kate bush said in an interview that the line originally was "make a deal with the devil", they just rewrote it bc they thought people wouldn't like it as much. So with the original line it fits even better.

i used to think Will would live because 1. joyce has been through soooo much and 2. he already fake-died once but now i think that eleven might have to kill him in order to defeat vecna which would be horrible

The Duffer Brothers wrote the entire plot of Stranger Things [ie. including the ending] years ago, so I don't think the audience response makes any difference to the storyline [as you suggested somewhere].

I don't care if they kill anyone else, I just want to see Steve, Dustin, and the other nuggets to go on a road trip!

I honestly think killing Will would be bs and a bit of a cop-out. Also killing off the character who has arguably suffered the most out of every character on the show would be hard to watch and not in a good way. Mike is really the only “still under 18” character I would understand killing for the emotional weight for El and Will specifically also Mike is a big enough character who is very polarizing. I’ll just say it though Nancy, Jonathan, Steve, Hopper, Wheeler Dad (can’t remember his name) have far outstayed their time on the show imo and should all die before any of the under 18 characters on the show.

Oh nooo i just cried at the idea of vecna killing Mike! Can you imagine eleven and Nancy’s reaction!? Those two would definitely finish vecna out of the pure pain that would cause them😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 on the other hand that would be the most badass science of the whole show! Here's my list of characters and how likely they are to die Mike- 75% because his death would be a major beat for a lot of characters including el, but on the other hand he's likely gonna be back in a leader role so they may not do it Dustin or lucas- 25% Will- 95% because come on Eleven- 75% because she's the only one other than will who could be in a "she has to die for everything to stop" role but she's also the closest thing to the main character and I could see her getting a happy ending Max- safe, if they were going to kill her off they already would've Steve- >20%, this is the kill everyone is going to expect going in, so i could see someone else making a sacrifice for him Nancy or Jonathan- 80%, I can see either of them going out for steve for various reasons, but the other one has to live Hopper- safe, they've already killed him off. Why spend around a quarter of the longest season of the show getting him back just to kill him off in the very next season? Joyce-75%, just because I can easily see her go out for any other character in the show Murray- wildcard%, I genuinely have no idea what's going to happen to him

I feel like for Eleven, she's going to live but the outcome won't be much better. She'll basically defeat Vecna by gaining control over the mindflare and shaping it in her image, which would cut off Vecna from his undead army. She'll then close every portal including the big one in Hawkins by using the undead souls of said army. Then if you're right about Vecna storing the memories of everyone he's killed then it's possible she might preserve them by giving them new bodies within the upside down itself, they won't be 100% themselves but the victims can still live on to a degree. Eleven wouldn't be dead but she may as well be because she'll lose everyone unless some of them volunteer to live i the upside down for eternity. Vecna will likely die to everyone else in the real world. and then the spinoff series will be about the The Horizontal Space, which is the dimension between ours and the upside down. (where Vecna went as he was being sent through the portal for the time before arriving to the upside down)

I genuinely want to know if what you said about fans wanting Jonathan and Nancy together is true because I've never been able to stand Jonathan. He never makes any decisions for himself he's a coward honestly I think Jonathan has a 100% chance of dying he will FINALLY get some guts to be a hero save some people (possibly push will to use powers other then the spooky tingle) and then Steve and Nancy can be together!

I’m my opinion they shouldn’t kill of anyone because it will make the ending sad and a major death would’ve worked better in season four

I would love to see will sacrifice his life for el, then confess his love to mike, and say " I love u sis" to el. P.S I would also cry.

Max 82% chance of Dying or 8/10 chance of Dying Mike 87% chance of Dying or 8.7/10 and 9/10 Eleven 90% chance of Dying or 9/10 chance of Dying Will 95% chance of Dying or 9.5/10 chance of Dying Steve 98% chance of Dying or 9.5/10 or 10/10 Which means all of this characters will likely die in season 5 if they're above 80% , 90% and especially 98% which is just 100% chance of dying the right percentage to use here is 40% to 60% because in that percentage they will have the chance of death or no death at all. It's so over the when you say Will, Eleven and Steve has a chance of 90% to 98% that means they die in season 5 no doubt so the correct percentage is 40% to 60% because they will still have a chance of living and dying in season 5 and even though those percentage were just predictions they are still wrong like 98% for Steve that means they're dead in Season 5.

What I think what happens when eleven disintegrates a character is that she either sends them to the upside down or kills them off but how that works is if she kills them off since they don’t go to the upside down she goes instead. That basically sums up why she didn’t die in the upside down by the demorgorgan, although maybe they just both went to the upside down just in different places but I don’t really understand how that would work because they were both basically in the same place where they went so.. yeh. Another theory I have is maybe the demogorgan just went to the place where he came from since he is originally from the upside down so he maybe just went back to the portal area which he came from and since eleven has never been to the upside down she just went to the exact place where she disappeared just upside down version, but I don’t really understand how that would work because it doesn’t explain anything when she sent henry to the upside down.

Max 11 Lucas will I think they will all be the key points of season four so far

Not sure who they're gonna kill off, but optimistic on a happy ending. Jonathan still hasn't told Nancy that he was chosen at a different college. IMO they could go there separate ways in season 5 but prob not due to Will. Anyways, just saying i'm optomisitic that the "hero's" will prevail :)

Honestly at this point killing off any of them seems kind of pointless

I’m also really sad that season 5 is gonna be the last one.

Not Steve anything but him

I think 3 characters will have to die, one from the younger teens (Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, El) one from the older teens (Robin, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan) and one from the adults (Joyce, Hopper, Murray). My most likely from the three would be Murray, Steve, and Will. Although I think it would be really interesting and would add a new layer to Mike's character if Nancy died. It would also be a very dramatic and tearful scene if Steve attempts to sacrifice himself and almost dies but Dustin gets ptsd flashbacks from letting Eddie die and somehow finds a way to save Steve, getting the heroic arc his character deserves.

My theory: Now, I feel pretty bad for Dustin at this moment. If Steve dies then Dustin would also die with him, because he’s already lost Eddie so it would make sense.
