Chula by Kat Von D is my go-to! It's very opaque, super matte, yet creamy and comfortable on the lips. Has great staying power and I almost never wear a lip liner under it. It's a gorgeous warmer red!

i loved the red lipstick video you did with leena way back when, so i love that you did a cruelty free equivalent! also, another great lip liner which is cheaper than gosh is the catrice one in the shade prince cherry (which i believe is cf?), which does not come off for love nor money

I wish we'd been able to see them on, but I appreciate the hand-swatches!! It's amazing that you've gone cruelty-free; I've been dancing around it for awhile, but I think I should just take the plunge and see.
Not sure if you can get it in the UK but I've always been a fan of Gabriel lipstick (you can get it at Whole Foods), as well as Burt's Bee's matte lip crayons and tinted lip balms for a cheaper alternative.
I used to super love GOSH but they stopped selling them in Kruidvat in Belgium a few years ago. I don't know if they're still available in the Netherlands but they are no longer for sale anywhere in Belgium :(
Ladies, the best red lipsticks I ever tried (and wear them still) are from 100% Pure-Cocoa Matte lipsticks! They stay perfectly, are semi matt,lovely velvety texture and wear off by leaving stain on lips,which I personally love. Cruelty free + vegan+ gluten free, price is about 29 euro but it's worth it. And the shades I am talking about are: Sonora - bright red with orange undertone, Nopal - true, classic red with blue undertone and Blood Orange - deeper brick red.
Barry M matte 178 is my red lip, more blue red because orange red is really not a good look on me, stayed on through a very sweaty basement concert without bleeding without a lip liner, so I think that's a solid recommendation
