Games in ancient Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zanzibar, Congo, And Chad would be amazing
I would like to see non Islam medival africa kingdom drama like these dramas in Europe and Asia. Not well known small kingdoms would be nice. Also I want to see a priest/priestess fantasy rpg game. Africa has plenty of religion, mythology, and folklore to create a fantasy game.
The so-called solomonic is not really a kingdom it's just basically a invention by judeo Christian or Christian eyes Ethiopian Kings Baisley to sit there on my ties with the so-called Queen of Sheba which is not really real person if not only quasi best so that's not even a real Kingdom what you mean that talk about is the axum kingdom during the medieval times both Christian and Muslim era as well as it fryer errors during the pre hebraic influence like Aksum Kingdom of his Pagan and it had its own Gods it's only real native African Deities and had their own kings and governors.
The online multi-player game SMITE now features several black/black African deities including Olorun, Yemoja, and Baron Samedi. Also, you and Home Team History are my favorite sources for African history.
I've actually read the Epic of Sundiata! It's really good. I'd love to see a video game or movie cover Sundiata's war against the cruel sorcerer king Soumaoro!
Regarding African representation in the media, in the 80s there was this South African TV show about the rise of Shaka Zulu (called: Shaka Zulu). I remember watching it as a kid and it made quite an impression on me. For those unfamiliar with it, the series has been uploaded to YT in its entirety.
Another great video. You made a great point. We can't wait around and expect good representation. Its up to us to portray African history in culture in a positive light.
I'll admit I don't know much about African history, but I think a total war game in pre-colonial Africa would be neat. Or an FPS where you can play as an Ethiopian during the Italian occupation, complete with a level during the Christmas Offensive where you can decommission a tank by rolling a big-ass rock into it.
Are you familiar with the Civilization franchise? In CIV 6 Nubia is actually a dlc nation and uses Amanitore as it’s leader and has Pítati archers as their unique unit.
I was thinking about a movie about the moors and also Masa Musa. The cast would star Dijimon Honsu(Messed up his name), Terrance Howard, Michael Jai White, Mashala Ali, Chiuwetel Efwoajor (just butchered up his name), Kelly Rowland, Saana Lathan, Lupita Nyong'o, Godfrey, and Chadwick Bozeman.
@obsexo zerzual Lebanese are Olive Skin but I sure Hannibal was mixed with North Africans who are brown and olive skin. Lebanece and north africans are brown when tanned.
@@MichaelClayton64 true. I wish home team would mention the resipicol influence between the Near East and ancient egypt, and with other Meditreanian regions. I am well aware Home Team knows much more about the history than I do. I wish he would make videos about it, since he makes videos about Ancient Egypt he should teach about it.
Thank you for another splendid video! Everytime I see a new video from you pop up, I get very happy; you are great at discussing the varied history of Africa (and other parts of the world, when you cover them), so it’s always a treat. I learn a lot watching your content and I hope African history, culture and contributions will see greater general appreciation in the days to come. Stay awesome and well!
I have always wanted a game where you were tasked with running a nature preserve in Africa. Give it different scenarios in different times, environments and places. I think it would be a great lens to see a large slice of the macro problems or conservation, economics, culture and international relations.
Man, I LOVE your channel. Your interest for African history, both with its good things and bad things, is enrichening, it's sincere and above all, it's awesome! I wish there were more channels like yours. Best regards, from Brazil!
the sad thing is that most black people nowadays want to be included in European and Asian culture more than African culture. They even come up with "forgotten history" just to support the idea of being included. Or if there is a movie or game about African, always follows these types: slavery, racism, and civil war. That's it. No history about great empires, no history about great battles, nothing. Just the same old trope of suffering, sadness, and despair. Only Black Panther doesn't follow those tropes.
I would love a cartoon series like anime style about Africa. Watched almost all Disney movies and it would be interesting of adding African cultures also represented.
You know though the reason why in archers are portrayed as a blonde and haired blue eyed is because it feels more like a fary tail which is really what there interested in. You know medieval Europe but magic.
Hey FN! I would recommend playing Rome 2 and Attila total war. In both games there is a dlc that lets you play as Kush or the Garamantes. It’s such a fun game, you can even recreate historical battles using it I would try it out for yo channel if you wanted to recreate something like the battle of dongola or something along those lines
interesting i think africans really need to bring stories that parralel the real african world in their videogames to the west and the east! that would be interesting i know their is a nigerian moile fighting game idk if its popular or not but you should definitely give it a try.
Hopefully in the future we will get more information on Nubian archers. I think African cultures tend to be pretty interesting in the minds of most people but I think it could change if it were showcased in an interesting way.
Zelda is kind of a weird mishmash of European and Japanese (as well as a myriad of other cultures sprinkled in) aesthetics that normally shouldn't jell together, but Nintendo somehow makes it work.
Excellent video. Thanks for the research suggestions. I'd love to see the Black Panther hype turn into more focus on African stories or stories inspired by African history. I must say, though, that as a musician, I disagree fundamentally with your statement about natural talent and historical relevance. ;)
They got rise of kingdoms the game app as the commercial or you do and I notice it don't have a black kingdom. To keep from allowing the last poke to wake me I needed to get that out. I wasn't trying to notice I was thinking about playing it buuuut.................. It's hard trying to be sane in this insane world. Good video tho king I'll share with my son and my bad about this comment.
I would say add drama but keep the voice narrative. I know you probably don't want to incite racist feelings and insult people, but the more beautiful aspects can be dramatized and there's more love and compassion there.
Great video as usual but what the heck is up with your hair!? Is this what your hair currently looks like or are you just testing something new out? I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but seeing it in the video caught me off guard.
It's interesting what you said about archers at the end of this video; prior to this, the racial stereotype of an archer had never actually crossed my mind, and yes you're right. But it was a very subtle stereotype, like, if someone asked me to "describe the typical job of a blonde haired, blue eyed, pale skinned person in the middle ages" - "archer" would not have necessarily been something I would have thought, but in most TV and movies, it is very rare to see a black person wielding a bow, and there is no logical reason why this should be the case.
@@jrad410 I suppose so, yes, but then in fairness the Lord of the rings and the underlying universe there-for was created by an Englishman and based primarily on neolithic, ancient and medieval English peoples, with Rohan society being representative of the Anglo Saxons, but if they were a horse culture, etc.
@@azzlingtonmcazzle9544 Yea I don’t think it was malicious on Tolkiens part. Just that kinda got it rolling and then of course Narnia ir Green Arrow or Robinhood etc all had similar effects on perceptions.
