Ragley mmmbop 2.0. Just under a grand and one of the most progressive and beautiful looking hardtails I've seen in a while. Buying myself one end of the month since my nukeproof scout was stolen last year and I've been riding a b-twin rockrider 520 since. (Which may I add, is a hell of a bike) changed from a 100mm stem to a 50 and some grippy pedals. Works like a dream. Would still shit myself if I took it to a real trail centre though!
Stoic: 'Stow-ik' - 1. a person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining. Some good bikes there. As a roady I think sub-1000 is all the bike I'd need for occasional mud-fun.
The brakes on the Decathlon EST100 are fine… they pulled me up nicely with a system weight of 150kg. I did end up replacing the levers/callipers with Shimano XT but largely all I gained was (delightful) modulation of brake force.
@@bikeradar I tried closer A-B testing on the brakes, I’m going home to wash my blasphemous little mouth out with Shimano brake fluid (the difference was much more noticeable going back to the decathlon brakes). One thing that might be worth looking out for is the free hub slipping under load. I’ve bought two decathlon mtbs in the last 6 months and they both do it.
For some trails and beginners, it could be all you need though and a good starter bike if you need some help getting your fitness up. Not every bike has to be a shred sled!
Spend £500 more and ChainReactionCycles are selling the Ragley BluePig Race, Steel frame,27.5 with Lyrik Select 160mm Forks,XT shifter n rear Mech,SLX 4 pot brakes and Drivetrain, Nukeproof Horizon V2 Wheels with Maxxis Assegai F and DHR R, 170mm Dropper...Bargain of the decade..I got mine 2 weeks ago...Beast of a bike..Ha ! They also do a 29r with the same spec and price...Check them out while the offers still on !!!
Its a killer bike for the money! Might be a stretch for a lot of riders though for 50% extra budget. If you can afford it though, one helluva bike for the cash!
Some people might want an e-bike to boost their fitness on tamer trails first, it's always good to have options! The other bikes may be more competent on rougher trails, but for some riders, it could be a great choice!
@@Jaymoid because theyre trying to slowly brainwash people that ebikes are the same as a normal bike. well they arent. they belong to a different category. they could make a different list for ebikes alone.
Budget eBikes are a huge fire risk!! Don't promote the cheap eBike segment please. If it's not a quality name brand motor and battery pack, don't buy it!
@@chrisfit If the battery and charger is Samsung it is likely okay. But what usually causes the fires is the cheaper electronics which may overheat and/or cause shorts and such. This has been an issue with phones for awhile. And one of the biggest causes of fires with phones is the cheap chargers people will pick up at convenience stores and such.
