When I was little, the first snake I got to handle was a wild Garter snake. That snake was so chill about being handled by 4 little kids for probably an hour. Never musked or anything. Absolutely took off like an arrow the moment it was back on the ground, though. I'm always going to have a soft spot for Garters because of that experience.

I'm so glad you added Garters to the list. While they are very abundant where I'm from and well-known to even non-snake lovers, you hardly see them in captivity. I've had a baby Oregon Red-Spotted and a baby Albino Checkered housed together for the last few months and they are both doing so well together. I think you've described their behavior to a T in this one!

Love that garter snakes are getting more attention and it makes me wish people would get into water snakes more too. They may not be the prettiest of snakes (my local common water snakes are typically brown or grayish brown with little to no pattern), but they tame real easily, seem to cohab well with themselves or garter snakes (personal experience), and you can make some real cool enclosures for them. I had a water snake and two garter snakes in a 40 gallon (36 in by 18 in) back in the day that I had built a small pool in on one end with a submersible pump that I put feeder fish in. Since I no longer do wild caught I'm not likely to ever keep them in the near future, but I still enjoy having both snake species in addition to my regular ones.

I hike a lot, there are times I find dozens of them and there are other times when I go months without seeing any, They are pretty sneaky. Same for garter snakes, sometimes I can run into dozens of them. I'm not saying I will collect wild animals, I am saying that when I see the wild ones, it makes me think hard about getting a Captive bred one.

The spades are super easy pets to keep!! they'll come out in the evening and at night and croak and hop around and its so fascinating watching them eat :O id really love to get garter snakes in the future as well!! something about them just makes me want to know more about them and watch how they behave from day to day- really gorgeous snakes! considering gopher snakes and more geckos down the road too now haha

I own a male Sauvignys Agama. He's got a great personality and is kinda like a mini bearded dragon. Not the most colorful reptile I've ever owned but interesting nonetheless and worthy of attention. I believe in taking the road less traveled. You just might like what you find. By the way, I think "Max" would be a great name for your knob tailed gecko. He's got a great stance. It looks like he's got "attitude". Great show . l never miss an episode.

I believe the name should be "Charmy" when I first saw that knob tail gecko. Remind me of 🦎Charmander 🔥from Pokemon MHAHAHA. Thank you for your videos always a pleasure to watch.

So nice to see garters on an "Amazing" list! My 3 goobers are always out, no hunger strikes, easy to keep, funny as heck. Yes, if they freak out they can musk, but mine have all gotten used to me and don't anymore. I'd recommend them over corns as first snakes for kids.

That knob-tail that needs a name should absolutely be named Charmander.

Have you done a cheapest or most expensive reptiles video? If not that would be cool. Or maybe reptiles that don't need insects

I'm getting ready to start a Reptile breeding hobby. I really wanted to do Garter Snakes, but unfortunately my state only allows owning them. Selling them is illegal due to them being a native snake in my area.

Another seldom seen but I’m coming to discover lovely species is the grey banded kingsnake. Very small and active, fun species to keep and can have some pretty crazy orange colouration as they age, real neat things and I just got lucky enough to stumble across one in England 😅

I love the nob-tail...knob? Anyway, he looks like Amber to be. Or perhaps overheated Carmel. I like those discripters as names!

I ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Garter snakes. I think it is great you can cohabitate them. Plus they are my first snake loves. When I was 2. I am now 62.
