There was the New York Marathon where the guy in the lead, from Mexico, took a wrong turn and ran for about 50 meters before they guided him back onto the course. He still caught the guy who took the lead and won.

I will never forget that New York City marathon. What an epic comeback. And it was he and his countrymen that came in first and second place I believe.
