At 3:48 I recognize they are using lowering those baskets into a vapor degreaser. The clarity of the vapor suggest they are using Freon as a solvent. It all looks familiar because back in the early 1960s I was a Regional Sales Manager for Blakeslee, the tech leader of the time in that filed. I sold production lines similar to that shown to the early computer manufactures along RT 128 around Boston. Our specialty was installation that used ultrasonics to strip contaminants from finished products such as cores and boards. But the most fascinating sales of all was to an company that used our system to recover whale oil from carcasses. The freon would extract the oil and a final step would vaporize the expensive Freon to leave the pure whale oil used as a lubricant in delicate applications.

The making of the jacket and the teapot really fascinated me. We should really think about how much value these craftsmen have with their mastery and how much unfortunately we are losing due to automations
@Woodman-Spare-that-tree

There’s not a lot of craftsmanship in that jacket. None of it is sewn by hand, they use glue, and the jacket is made to a pattern that has been provided for them and is generic. The tailors who make bespoke suits from scratch are the craftsmen. eg Savile Row, London.
@lagringa7518
@lagringa7518 Год назад
@@Woodman-Spare-that-tree Or Hong Kong where they used to make a personalized suit for you in a couple of hours. These are still artisans and that jacket was not 'glued', he simply used double sided tape to keep the hide steady to sew.

I am 65 and a creative, artsy person. Your comment got to me. I say the same thing " I'll create tomorrow". I moved to Florida 5 years ago. I bought a lot of art supplies; beads, paint, clay etc. even a piano. I've made necklaces and bracelets, but not many. You should start tomorrow. Create something like a calender, with tasks every week, month or day. I'm writing from my artistic hippie heart to you. I truly understand.

@@Raittway I'm a very artistic person, also. I have many projects that I'm working on, it's just the ability to follow through and finish, sometimes. I took two pottery classes at college, although I've dealt with ceramics since I was a kid. The only thing stopping me from pottery at the moment is access to facilities. Meanwhile, there's sewing, beading, crocheting, gardening, etc...
