I think The Mummy movies fall into this category too, the first two are really fun and the third sucks

Terminator 3 is better then Genysis and Dark fate, still not a great film though. Think Salvation is best out of the films after Terminator 2 though

There's a fanedit of Alien 3 called The Long Nightmare that retcons the events in that movie as Ripley's long fever dream. Even fixed the continuity mistakes with new visual fx. Look it up.

Can't agree more with you on all 5 of these terrible 3rd movies. Alien 3 is the one that hurts to most I absolutely love aliens and I just pretend it ended there.

Spider-Man 3 is a worthy, satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and doesn’t belong here

I also only saw Blade Trinity once…I wasn’t expecting this film to make the list, but glad that it did…Blade 3 gets two thumbs down 👎👎

So it’s kind of crazy that the first 2 big Marvel franchises, Raimi Spiderman and X-Men, both had a step down 3rd films. Both 2nd films I think were the best and both 3rd films were the worst.

(13:24) John Connor could have been a cool character if the Sequels that came after Terminator 2 had an actual GOOD script and GOOD direction. But none them had that, including Terminator: Dark Sh*t.

Alien 3 was horrible. I was heartbroken from the beginning when they killed 2 great characters. What a mess.

fun fact: Bryan Singer and Dan Harris went to the X3 premiere, but walked out halfway through because they thought it was so bad.

Great List Adam! I’d throw Godfather part 3 as that could be the biggest drop in quality compared the 1 and 2, the greatest movies ever. Did you say the 3 major Minnesota sports and then leave out hockey in the same sentence 😆…

I've never seen this trilogy but a lot of people mention Godfather 3 really dropping the ball

great list. I remember my brother and i leaving alien 3 in the theaters and being so upset from the beginning due to the off screen deaths of newt and hicks. I loved matrix. Enjoy matrix 2. Cant finish part 3

Another trilogy where the third movie wrecked everything as the mummy. The first two movies are so much fun. But the third was awful

Spiderman 3 is a faulted, but not terrible movie. I blame the studio clash for it having the cringe parts that it has. However, there are two very different Alien 3 movies, and I like both for going a different direction from Aliens. But Alien 3, if you could, watch it as a standalone, tells quite an interesting story.

Agree wholeheartedly with Alien 3, one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had at the movie theater. Years later I would come to discover that directors aren't always responsible. Don't agree with Terminator 3, that movie is way underrated, no it's not as good as 1 or 2 but most people just give it a bad rap because Cameron wasn't involved with it and Saruh Connuh isn't in it, I thought it had some interesting ideas though and that police car/ fire truck/ crane truck scene was phenomenal. One you left off the list is Superman 3. Not as bad as 4, but still a huge step down from 1 and 2 and no Margot Kidder come on. On a side note, it's Alan CUMMING, not Cummings.

Ending a story is hard but some of these 3rd entries are inexcusable piles of dung.

Completely disagree with the criticism of Kill Bill Vol 2. I love that it's so different.

I enjoy Spider-Man 3 because I am invested in the characters which the first two built up. But I recognise that it's not a great film...

I went to see Terminator 3 with my sister and someone else (a friend, I guess). On the way home she wouldn’t walk with us or say anything. Afterwards she said the plot is like a greek tragedy. I don’t think leaving your audience depressed is ever a good idea.

Godfather 1 n 2, excellent 3 is terrible

Arnold in T3 is dressed as a stripper and that's when terminator franchise was destroyed. Genesys made you hate hollywood. I did not hate salvation a lot but i did not bother with dark fate.

COMPLETELY agree on Alien 3... such a major disappointment to my 11 year old heart. Still don't mind T3 and X3 as much as everyone else...they're at least entertaining and FULL of action. IMO, they're much better retreads of their superior predecessors WAY more so than the majority of sequels/prequels/soft reboots that have come out in the past 10+ years😢

The Dark Knight Rises was absolute rubbish. Completely ruined every character's arc.

The Land Before Time 3 was trash.

The only reason that I don't count Terminator because it never should've had a 3rd movie. T2 was always the true ending and Judgement Day never happened. Top 5 1. The Godfather, the first 2 are masterpieces and I have watched Godfather 3 a few times to try and like it but I f@@@ing hate it no matter what version you watch. 2. Aliens, this had a shot at being the greatest trilogy of all time, but that 3rd movie dropped the ball with too many things. Sure, it had some good ideas, but I just can't get past Newt and Hicks dying. Bishop is basically taken out of the movie. 3. Spider-Man, I still think those first 2 movies that Sam gave us were some of the best superhero movies but Sam s@@t the bed with the 3rd, too much cringey humor, Venom was so bad, didn't like Sandman being the killer of Uncle Ben and Mary Jane got more annoying. 4. The Mummy, the first 2 movies aren't groundbreaking masterpieces or anything but they're really fun and the 3rd movie is so bad that I couldn't even go past an hour without tapping out. The biggest problem is that Rachel was replaced by a new actress and Bello had no chemistry with Fraser. 5. Blade, two awesome movies and the 3rd wasn't just bad but a total dumpster fire.

Alien, Predator and Terminator are like genders….. there are only two.

Aside from the fact that the survivors in Aliens died off screen for Alien 3, I thought it was a pretty good [underfunded] movie. The fourth one was stupid. But there is an obvious trend of studio interference with these third outings that I think would be a lessons learned for these idiot executives. LEAVE THE CREATIVES ALONE and allow them to make the money. Seeing Little Mermaid on Friday with the family, in 3D, because that's what husbands do when their wives say "we" are going.

Wow how 2009 of you bashing Spider-Man 3. Spider-Man 3 is beyond entertaining and a worthy conclusion to the trilogy. People love it and you are now in the minority.
