I followed your Amazon shop. Once I leave your shop and do other shopping on Amazon, how to I get back to it? I follow other shops but can never find them again. HELP?
I don't use DELI paper to gelli print due to the waxy finish that prevents it from gluing down well when collaging! 😆 SHOP PAPERS ⬇️⬇️ Copy Paper (More expensive than the standard but VERY good quality) amzn.to/3vWkXTk Calligraphy Paper amzn.to/3tLSLzN Glassine Paper amzn.to/3sZAOhR Archival Tissue Paper White amzn.to/3Kwgfj1 Kraft amzn.to/3CwgYOe The vintage ephemera I usually source from thrift stores but here are some new alternatives: Graph Paper amzn.to/37pjJFX Column Paper amzn.to/3CvpUDH Ledger Book amzn.to/35RFhdA Onion Skin www.thepapermillstore.com/fidelity-onion-skin-white-paper-8-1-2-x-11-in-10-lb-bond-smooth-100-per-package.html
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the Daiso papers (calligraphy/rice in your video) are dollar store buys. If you have a Daiso store near you, it's probably $1.25 to $1.50 a pack. They do have an online store but I believe you need to order 10 at a time. Thanks for the info!
I like sketch weight paper for printing/collaging a lot. Also, I have a lot of packages of scrapbook printed papers. There are always some I don't like, so I print over them. The paper is nice quality. Sometimes I completely cover the image on the paper, sometimes I layer over it and can still see some of the design underneath. Some of them are white on the back, so I use that side. So no risk in printing on them since I wasn't fond of the paper in the first place.
Hi Robyn. In the book, which I am loving thank you, you have made a large journal using handmade papers. It looks wonderful and I am wondering which paper that you used for that? It takes paint beautifully and id like to try all your techniques once I’ve made a similar book. Can you help? Many thanks for you generosity and skill!!
Glassine paper is a nice discovery. I have a case from when I was shipping photos. Great news. I live your book with reference video. You are a great instructor.
Hi Robyn! Thanks for this video (and for your other ones, too). This inspired me to buy the package of glassine paper and to make 12" x 14" gel plate prints. I typically use my gel prints to collage on wood panel, and I'm curious whether the glassine ends up being as see-through as deli paper once glued down. Also, since it tends to wrinkle on the gel plate, does it also tend to wrinkle when gluing down? Thanks again. Paula
I woke up thinking, I wonder if I can you gelli print with a momigami paper that has no oil or lotion? Been searching your videos cause you are the best ! Have you done this and will the momigami paper just get stuck to the plate in bits and pieces?
Thank you for making this and adding the links. Most of these papers have more then one use so they're worth buying.. to me anyway 🙂 I wouldn't have thought to look for onion skin paper.. thanks a bunch
Onion skin! Haven’t seen or thought about it for decades but I recall my mom having some in her home office - I’ll have to ask if it was just for the typewriter or something else.
I used to lead a woman's shelter and were in contact with nuns who gifted me stacks of papers which I now think are vintage onion skin. I did not know what I had at that time. I used them up with eco printing and rust designs. Thanks for this helpful little workshop Robyn
Ooooo…..I haven’t seen onion skin paper in decades! Glad you presented it! And the glassine….ok, and the calligraphy paper. Ok, thank you for all of it…! In the wild wide world of paper, this was very helpful in narrowing down prospects. 🌺
I bought a set of Japanese calligraphy papers and they seem to have a plasticy back side.. do yours? ….these do not work on the plate they stick to the plate and tear. I can’t use the links in the videos because I live in Canada. Weird hey
This is great! Which paper 'disappears' the most when collaged leaving only the stencilled or stamped part showing? Tissue, tracing, deli etc. Does this make sense? Also, Do you rinse your ink tray after each intuitive writing session or just let it dry? If the second option, does the dried stuff interfere with new India ink you pour in? Thanks so much for all your teaching. You have revolutionized my art!!!!
Aww thank you! I appreciate your kind words. Tissue paper is my top choice for papers that disappear in collaging....tracing paper would be second! I don't personally use deli paper for gelli printing due to the waxy finish & the fact that it doesn't glue down as well when collaging. I would recommend Glassine in place of deli paper as a similar alternative. & as far as the ink goes I do not rinse my ink tray! I use a porcelain ink tray because when the ink dries I can peel it up and save the ink and use it again later by rehydrating it with a couple of drops of water! :)
Great info, Robyn - TY! I also find that deli paper works great too - it grabs paint really well and creates a gorgeous vintage crinkled look. A box of 500 sheets goes for < $15.
I use my 12x12 DSP from pads that I didn't get inspired by. I never use copy paper. It warps so bad. I want to cover books or journals or put on a collage painting with these materials and the really thin/cheap paper will warp so bad that I get p***ed trying to work with it and mold it into my projects. If I am doing fresh prints that I will use later, I do at least 65lb index paper. It can withstand the moisture.
Would you share with me how to use glassine paper for collage papers. Thank you.. have been enjoying your tutorials…valuable information thank you in advanced!!!!!
Oh maybe you could do a quick follow up with a "pull" using each type of paper. That would be great since I'm not sure which would be the best. Though I'm leaning toward the glassine.
This was very valuable information, especially for folks who are newer to your work. AS always a JOY to be with you. Thanks SO much. I just ordered glassine paper to try it. How does it differ from deli paper? Have a great week!❤️
Wow, you showed a lot of awesome papers. I was already experimeting with some different papers I have. Thank you so much for sharing, stay safe and have a wonderful day😍❤
Robyn, do you print on the calligraphy paper in your inkjet printer, like for your printables? if so, a how-to video would be great - or is there already one you've made? Thanks for all your wonderful instruction & hard work.
Onion skin! Just letting you know I watch all your videos through to the end! This one was really helpful. I’m gearing up for a gelli printing session. I seem to take over the while kitchen when I do one so it isn’t something I do spontaneously during my regular at sessions. Lol

Very informative thank you Robyn , very new to Gelli printing popped over from frolys to sub so glad I did , going to work my way back on your Vids 💋👍 Debs xx
Welcome to the community! Froyle is awesome. 🤩 So glad to have you here & thank you so much for commenting, let me know if you have any questions as you begin your journey!
Robyn- when I use tissue on my gelliplate, its very hard to peel the paper off without tearing it. Do I have to buy more expensive tissue to solve this problem?
Hi Linda! I recommend the Archival Tissue paper. It is linked in the description. The trick to using tissue paper is pulling thin layers. In my experience when there is too much paint on the plate i.e. too much moisture the tissue paper will absorb that moisture and tear. Archival tissue paper is used for storing and protecting historical documents or artworks. It's acid free and designed to not degrade easily. This type of tissue paper will hold up much better on the gelli plate™

As usual, you're right on the mark! Just got my glassine paper. You are right, it is very strong. I've been experimenting gel printing on it. I noticed that one side seems a little glossier than the other. Any suggestions on which side to pull the print? I am also a Robyn and strongly considered archeology when I was in college, so I am very excited about your methodology. I've only recently discovered you, but I am watching and liking as many videos as time permits. I love that you think outside the box. You go girl!!!!
Hi, I am certain Robyn has advised to print on the glossy side. I finally just ordered my glassine! She uses it so much plus I do love that Calligriphy paper, what a bargain!!💗
