I will grow more for the roadside since many folks travel this way and no one is doing a flower garden for folks to see on their way. It is like saying in simple ways, "To God be the glory"!
I absolutely love your channel. I used to put your episodes up on my big Tv just on auto play back when I used to live in california. And now the military has picked me up and moved me to Eastern North Carolina if you could believe it!!! I just bought a new construction house and cannot wait to start the landscaping. (With the help of your videos of course) I just love them. Keep doing what your doing! Lots of love from the Brasel Family.
Up early & was gifted with rain last night so, hooray, I don't have to water today! Living in Georgia is terrific but the heat has been brutal. Our first year in this house & lots of plants went in, I'll definitely be looking to add some of these next year!
Plant series like Proven Winners usually don't provide a lot of details. With daylily varieties, they don't usually disclose whether they are dormant, semi-evergreen, or evergreen. Dormant daylily varieties don't do well in my part of the country. I would appreciate it if you would include such details when you can. Thanks.
Moved to the South (west TN) from the west coast a couple years ago, and am moving to NC in a couple weeks. Absolutely love gardening, but have been struggling with the humidity, pests and my plants. Glad I found your channel!!!! Going to go through each video and make a list of plants I love to place in my garden!!!
Thank you for the video! This was really useful for me (zone 7a in Virginia). You're right about oppressive humidity. I took the dog out at 5:30am today before the sun was up and it already felt like it was 85 with the humidity.
Thank you, thank you, building a garden that gets a lot of sun so these beauties will be great! Thank you, hugs and love from Texas, where it is sticky and hit, most of the year! Lol
I am a passionate gardener and have been gardening in Georgia for my whole life. I really enjoy your channel and learn so much from your videos. I wish I could visit you at Creekside and support your garden center and meet you in person! Please keep up your channel because you are delightful!
Jenny, I raise daylilies in the South! Hybrids for the most part, but have never bought PW brands. Will have to look for those! Also have a monster Black Pearl Heuchera & it is gorgeous in my shade garden Have a great week & stay cool! Thanks for such a happy start to my day!
Do you have a "Caramel" heuchera too? I have divided mine over the years & it's happy in ALL kinds of spots. It's also a Villosa, opposite end of the color spectrum from Black Pearl. I'm going to look to add Black Pearl. How much sun is yours in?
Thank you so much for this video. I deal with the dreaded Japanese beetles in my area so knowing which perennials they avoid is so helpful...last year I had to give away my newly bought Dahlias as the beetles really liked them. More videos of plants they dislike will be greatly appreciated!
I have recently found your videos and have really enjoyed them. I loved the idea of taking notes for next year! I live in zone 8a so always hot and humid, and I am now trying to learn what to plant that works in my area/conditions. I will add these to a list for next year. If you have day lillies and want to redo the flower bed, when is the best time to move them? I want to change up a bed and add a few more especially those big 7 inch ones! Thank you for your help!
So beautiful. I just got some dianthus, but haven't planted them yet. I'm in zone 10b. Hope they do okay. I have a question about day lilies - what do I do with them once all the blooms have bloomed? Do I cut them all the way down to the base? I'm new to gardening. I just started in May. I'm learning so much from your videos. Thank you.
Great question! Some people do you like to cut theirs back, but that is when the plant is storing up energy for next year’s blooms so I just leave mine alone. I’ll leave the foliage alone even though it starts to look a little ratty, but that’s OK. My garden never looks 100% perfect at any point. Once the flower scapes stalks are dried then you can just easily remove them and pull them out of the ground.
Jenny could you let me know if you have any of the. Large leaf ajuga all I have found is a new variety with tiny leaves I live in Slidell La. thank you. 🙏🏻 love your Creekside videos
Thank you for alll the goo information, Iam preparing a circle bed divided in four what can I plant is shade area in the front of the house Sonia from GA
I will be adding some of these to my garden next year. I am looking for SHADE loving bushes/shrubs. I have/ had azaleas across my porch. One side is full shade and the other gets some sun. Some of my azaleas have died. They did not perform to well anyway. I was wondering what you would suggest. I live in West Tennessee. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi - I live in AZ, where its a dry heat (ex. August) but cant find any hostas in local nursery. Was told too hot here, But you say they do ok in zone 9 w/shade?
You would have to make sure the variety you choose is hardy to at least a zone 9 to give it half a chance. I have absolutely zero experience growing in your area but if you can give it lots of shade & consistent water then I say go for it! It certainly won’t hurt to try.
I out in 8 black pearls in the fall, and by June they were all dead. Could not handle our heat and humidity at all!! I had them in morning sun and shade in the afternoon. I do not recommend those. I live in 7B also.
I found some native heuchera at my family’s creek side property in NW Ga. It was growing amongst the ferns in sandy soil in the shade. Brought it home and put it in a shady spot and it’s doing well. It took a little longer to get established in a sunny spot but has gained traction over the last couple of years.
@@stephaniestewart9396 before moving them I would just make sure that you have a nice thick layer of mulch (double hammered hardwood is great!) surrounding them and make sure they are getting consistent water. They should perk up & be happier!
Unfortunately Banana Cream is not Japanese Beetle resistant, mine is under attack daily and looking pretty bad. Japanese Beetle and June bugs love that plant.
NOOOOO!!!!! Don't tell me that! Maybe they have left mine alone because they are too busy eating my 'Vermillionaire' that is planted behind it {long sigh}....
Gardening with Creekside I am sorry but it is true😔 I have a few different varieties of daisy and they all look good only in early summer, then the bugs come and forget it, for the rest of the season they are just trying to recover. On the positive note, there are a lot of PW plants that do just fine and it is so nice to see daisies blooming if only for a short time, I still keep them and hope that some day bugs go away for good! 😊
DreamyGarden2000 out of curiosity, where do you live? I have found that PW’s double impatiens look amazing for me up until early/mid July and then they just turn south. No amount of water & fertilizer helps - I think it’s just too hot & humid for them 😥
Gardening with Creekside I live in New York state. And I totally agree about the impatients, in fact, I don’t grow them anymore at all for that reason.
