NEED HELP. On my 2001 Ford F250 5.4L V8 there is a black round metal canister. When you open the hooD Its located on the front right. Its about 12 inches long. Has a 12 inch hose connected to it that turns into a 1/2 metal line that runs down along the frame to the back of the truck somewhere. Does anybody know what this is canister is. I need to replace the hoses and line to it.

***Top 5 problems not mentioned . #1 Change Oil cooler at 100k. When it blows you get oil in the radiator . #2 change fuse block sometime after 200k or you will be walking home.. #3 the switch pad that activates the horn will need to be replaced after 100k or you will wake up with the horn blowing at all hours #4 if the headlights go out and the truck runs rough then dies with a dead battery ... its not the alternator ... Its the Instrument cluster and will cost over 500$ and a odometer calibration from the Dealer ...and #5 the #2 screw from passenger side cowl attachment will need caulked or water enters the airbox and into the cab , along with door top gasket where it meets the windshield.. failure to address this will lead you to Problem #2***

My 02 has 260k miles. Put new sparkplugs in, (none ejected,) fuel pump, turn signal switch and the heat was feast or famine...lol. now it's just gone. Good work truck. Keeps the guys on point!

what's your gas mileage like? I'm looking for a v10 because finding a f250 with the 5.4 is nearly impossible and I don't want the 6.0 diesel problems

change the oil cooler immediately. It will blow and then oil will go into the cooling system and the engine will run out of oil .....

2 more you need to add. 1. The headlight is on sounds randomly. Temporary fix is to bang on the dash side by the switch. To fix idk... 2. Will not go into gear from park. Press foot park brake and release while taking out of park.

i had my brake line located under the abs control unit rot at a junction between braided and solid line , dam near got me killed , thought it was the control box until i removed it and saw the actual problem , these trucks have no manual brakes if the power fails, so keep that in mind if you loose all your fluid like i did your screwed , would of really sucked on a mountain pass going down hill ...

Little pro tip on that resistor. If the plug is cooked cut it off, pour new solderless connectors on with some heat shrink, put back I’m in place where they belong and pot with some good silicone.

The HVAC regulator or relay isn't that easy to replace sometimes on these trucks, and wire harness because of rust.

the plug for the blower motor resistor can be a bear to disconnect and in my case would of been much easier to get a new plug with the resistor just cut the old one out and wire the new one in instead of spending an hour trying to remove the old one ..

I have a 2004 F350 XLT with a gas leak on the top of the tank it's small but only seems to leak when driving. Is this a loose or cracked hose or just do the pump?

Hose would leak all the time I’d say it’s in the tank since it’s under pressure when running

I’ve got a problem for ya to hack ! 99 F-250 4x4 with Triton 5.4 automatic transmission . Sits for 1 week & will not start . Starter tries to engage but grinds . Have changed battery terminals…battery….& starter . Checked all other connections . It seems as if the engine is fluid locked . Any thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated !!!!!

If you mean a blower motor, it’s an easy enough fix. I think it’s the same as in a Yukon.

Drop the tank ? Lift off the bed ? Or Cut a access door in the bed ?

I cut an access on my truck Put a heavy duty plywood on the top Way faster than dropping the tank And just incase you always just remove the screws and you have an access door panel lol

locate it first ,,, also replace the oil cooler immediately.. its old and when it fails its not a good thing oil will fill your radiator

Hmmm... didn't cover the non working fuel gauge issue, the rear light issues, TBS failure.. rear lights stop working when applying the brakes issue.. so where are the fixes an notice for them?

90% of the time its not the GEM and its the fuseblock .. And that is covered in my comment #5 The second screw from passenger side to right holding the cowl leaks water into the airbox and the door gasket where it meets the windsheild allows water in and humidity will fowl out the fuse block and GEM or undervolt the computer and put the truck in safe mode
