My friend keeps telling me I shouldn't have spent so much money on my Audio Technica and just have gotten a Crosley Cruiser like her because the sound quality is "exactly the same". This is the same friend who constantly complains about how her records skip... Wonder why.

I used to listen to my Best friends Albums in the 70's & 80's. He passed away, and I inherited his Albums, 0ver 300 from the 60's-80's (the best music). I have some of his ashes in a shadow box with pictures of us, and when I listen to the records it feels like he's here with me. RIP Tim Jackson.

LPs were also meant to be played in their entirety, starting on Side A and ending on Side B, thereby creating a timeline with an audio landscape that progressed and delivered the experience that the artist meant you to have.

Maybe you could show us your whole routine from choosing, handling, cleaning record & stylus, turning over, cleaning record and stylus, resleeving, and returning to a properly stored collection.

You're totally right dude, i don't remember my first mp3 i downloaded but i sure remember the first song i converted to mp3 more than 20 years ago, and it took the computer almost 9 hours to fix the job , an extended song for about 8 minutes. I admit that a recordplayer which i do have too is the only way to actually feel the music. And you know what, since i subscribed to your channel i actually use my recordplayer more often. Oh those memories.....i love it.

I absolutely love vinyl. I have a Technics SL-3 linear tracking turntable from the 80's and it still works and sounds great. I love going into the charity shops and looking through the vinyl records and sometimes you can find some really good stuff. Some years back I picked up the album "White Feathers" by Kajagoogoo and I love it, it's one of my favourite records in my collection. Sometimes I think you don't always have to go into a big second hand record shop to find good records and spend huge amounts of money on them. But even new vinyl you can buy in many shops now. I have bought a lot of great vinyl albums from my local Asda store in Portsmouth recently and I love it. I also sometimes buy vinyl on eBay. I just recently got the T.Rex "Tanx" album on a blue and reddish pink split coloured vinyl and it looks amazing.

I bought the AT-LP120-USB back in 2011. I'm soooo happy with it. It does the job and looks nice. Quartz and direct drive assures yeeeears of enjoyment. Then you have the head where you can put any needle you want. Good, pretty and cheap. I went up a notch in geekiness and took my 1/4 inch tape recorder out (Tascam 32) to play what I like from spotify/google play. If I like an album too much I order the vinyl. I do have Dark Side of the Moon (first press) and Jackson's Beat It in photo press.

how is the torque on that Audio-Technica? I used to own a pair of Technic 1200 open till 2005 when I pretty much gave them to a friend of mine because I was Eric Crossroads living at home at mom and dads house and a room full of DJ equipment and crates of DJ final was just taking up space. Of course I regret it now. I'm thinking of buying the Pioneer plx 500 turntable. but I always wondered about the Audio Technica. I think I'm heart set on the plx 500. Have you checked that turntable out?

Great video, brother. I had not listened to my records in many, many months. Really years. Then I saw the film Blinded By the Light. And I had to hear Born to Run. On vinyl. In the next couple of days I found myself listening to whole albums - something I rarely did. Now I want to hear Funk #49 by the James Gang. Yeah, I could pull it up on RU-vid, but I want to hear it on vinyl.

Good video mate! The first LP I ever bought was 20 Smash Hits of '72 (not by the original artists, crap obviously) but the first proper album was Aladdin Sane by David Bowie. These days I don't have a decent analogue setup, but I used to. Oh yes. The thing is with vinyl is that it is a somewhat immersive experience. You have to take some trouble (by trouble I don't mean that in any way it was troublesome - just bear with me) to actually play the music you want to listen to. You see, vinyl wasn't just about the music for many of us. These days I listen to stuff through my PC and a pair of USB speakers. It ain't the same folks. It just ain't the same. I have some very fond memories of buying a brand new album (let's just say Animals by Pink Floyd or example) and turning on the amp, the turntable and the graphic equalizer. Then putting the album on said turntable with the utmost care and reading the lyrics inside the - for the most part - beautiful album cover (very often gatefold) whilst listening to it. It's an experience that I would recommend to anyone. Anyone apart from Barry Cheeseman that is, because he's the biggest bastard I ever met.

I grew up with CDs, just as digital music was becoming more common. My mum kept some of her records from her childhood, but got rid of most as we didn’t have a record player. However, last Christmas I got a record player, and I have started building a collection. The first record I ever played was Todd Rundgren’s “Initiation”. The first tune I ever played on Spotify was Beethoven’s 5th. The first tune I ever played on Apple Music was Todd Rundgren’s “Hodja”. The first CD I ever listened to? Before I can remember. I love records and CDs and iTunes and play them all frequently.

By the time I graduated from high school I had one hell of a british invasion and Motown collection. Got back into records last month after 33 yrs of CD's. I don't do the downloading thing. I told my self record hunting will be conducted old school, drive out to the record stores. I only use my computer to look at maps to get to the record stores. You are a true salesman. I listen to your logic and words and dude your fantastic. I remember my first album, Simple dreams, 1977 by Linda Ronstadt. Still own it. I also own my first Tuner, Nikko 9095 and Turntable Technics SL-D3. Never have I download any music from the big guys ie, Itunes, etc. (don't know whho they are). Enough, I just think you are great to today's society in promoting vinyl and cassettes. Thanks.

The first MP3 I ever downloaded was "Gamera is Missing" by Buck Dharma off of Napster (that was way before Napster was ruled illegal) and I still have it since I can't find a higher quality version of it First record was Fire Of Unknown Origin by Blue Öyster Cult. (Still have that too. I love the cover art)

I consider myself lucky that I have a stereo system with an excellent turntable and an enviable vinyl collection. You have just explained why I am so lucky. Thank you!

Hey man, real talk. Do you think the AT-LP 60 is not worth and just go to the 120? I don't mind purchases but it's a big jump since I just wanna listen and sample. maybe in the future but is it like NOT WORTH IT to get the 60? appreciate an answer from you from a fellow audiophile and a producer... thanks

Get LP120. I have a friend who owned LP60 and he always said while the sound quality is good, he feel the player is too basic and feel constraint by it.
