15 gallon tanks are the new 10 gallon tanks for me. I've found that they take up nearly the same amount of space, while still giving you much more wiggle room inside to put enough decor in there without sacrificing all of the space available for the reptile itself.

Maybe "How do you know when to take your reptile to a vet?" type of video. Because reptiles often show symptoms very late and slow. I know prevention is easy, but sometimes spotting problems can also be equally difficult.

@@almacsutka3935 that’s a good rule of thumb but most ppl do not weigh every animal the same. If a dog needs $1000 in a surgery, the owner may perhaps do it, most likely will. If it’s a gecko that cost them $40 and needs $800 in vet bills nah
@almacsutka3935
@almacsutka3935 Месяц назад
@@Timothee_Chalamet_CMBYN But that shouldn't really be the case (I get that it is sometimes, that's sad), I think if one buys an animal they should be responsible for giving it the best care. Like we are taking that animal for us, we get something (said animal), the animal gets great care and living conditions in return. Idk that probably was too complicated lol

See this is why I hate “room temperature” as a descriptor- my house is rarely 68 degrees. At night we can get down to 60 or even 58 at night in winter and yet I see “room temperature is fine” and just SCREAM.

@@Lol-hd4my No. Room Temperature means the temperature of a room - my house and, by extension, my ROOM do not get to and maintain the stereotypical "room temp" that for some reason is the default assumption. @@nurailidepaepe2783 That. Is my point?? Not everyone keeps their house at the same temperature so it is not a very helpful term. I know my house tends to run a little to a lot cooler and so "room temp" is useless for me. My issue is that room temp is often the only description used without any actual temperature range attached.
@rayvnekieron8587
@rayvnekieron8587 3 года назад
"room temperature" is generally accepted to be about 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit, most commonly about 70-72. I agree that it would be better to just list the acceptable temperature range than to say room temperature, though.

For the dwarf frogs, another good reason to keep them in a 10gal or larger is because larger tanks are typically easier to maintain than smaller ones. Most aquarium keepers prefer 10+ gallons (obviously being sure to not over populate) because keeping the water speciations stable is easier. Planted tanks instead of artificial decor also helps keep ammonia and nitrate levels down.

I’m on my second year of breeding ringnecks. 😊 I am OBSESSED with these babes. I have a group of 6 adults in an 18x18”. I’m hoping to help establish captive bred lines for people with limited space (or just fond of tiny snakes). I’ve not had a lot of success with mine eating insects. They fled from the crickets and really enjoyed watching the soldier fly larvae turn into adults and then fly around their enclosure. lol I’ve found they’ll eat anything my garters will eat, even fish! Even chopped pinkies! Whenever I cut up food for my garters I can put the small “scraps” in for the rings. I do lean heavily on the worms for these guys, though, and use vitamin supplements.

Video suggestion: social snakes. I gather DeKay's Brown Snakes are social, so you can keep several in one enclosure, and garter snakes, but beyond that, nothing. Being able to keep more than one makes them much more interesting, particularly for a hands-off pet like a DeKay's, both to watch and for their own quality-of-life. I'm tempted by a DeKay's (good thing you can't get them in Switzerland, really), and would be more tempted by several. Although now I've seen a Ring-Tail I could be tempted by them too...

When I was a teen I once kept a teeny baby dekay’s brown, they’re native to Maine. But it refused to eat no matter what I did or what I tried to give and it slowly died on me and it was the worst thing ever. I felt responsible for not doing enough for it but there was no way you could force feed something that tiny, I would’ve crushed her little head trying. It was just such a disappointment and I still feel guilty to this day, especially when I think she probably would’ve just been fine if I hadn’t kept her in the first place.

Dekay's brown snakes from the wild often starve themselves to death in captivity, it's a recurring problem. Since captive breeding efforts are minimal, it's hard to find ones that aren't stolen from their habitat and sold off (often deceptively) to unknowing reptile keepers. It's really sad, in my opinion. If it makes you feel any better, my childhood and early teens was a constant series of misinformed petkeeping failures that still haunt me to this day. Every pet owner has stumbled at some point or simply lacked the right information to care for their animals, and that's why I'm glad that nowadays more and more legitimate animal husbandry resources are becoming available online, to hopefully stop some of those mistakes before they're made.

Great video! One thing I really wanted to add about African dwarf frogs is they like to be communal so would typically want three or more. Also if you’re going to keep African dwarf frogs make sure there is a secure lid on the tank because they will jump out the top.

Why some animals are stressed with excessive space. It just depends. I would look into real poachers and abusers to focus your indignation on.
@LuckyStone888
@LuckyStone888 Месяц назад
@@kikitcat5I don't understand your comment. There is no indignity, it's just a quick comment. Adam understands some subjects aren't for everyone but a view and s comment help him in the long run. I was mostly positive, you're the one with loathsome indignation. Perhaps you need to have more compassion for yourself, so you can be more fair to others
