I grew up in South LA. Went to school at LMU next to Playa Vista in the 90's and eventually lived in Pasadena and also Los Feliz. I moved out of the state 10 years ago. All these areas you need at least 6 figures to live comfortably. If you have a family, Pasadena, to me is the best, eventhough the public schools suck there. The Con is that accesibility to alot of these neighborhoods has open to many people now.

Good guy. Helpful video. Three quick comments: 1. You are “partial” not “impartial” to Playa Vista. 2. “Encapulate” isn’t a word. 3. It’s not “Griffin” Park.

I'm moving to la at some point next year. Made my decision to do so today from bay area. More beaches. More sun. Weeds legal. Will have my own place. No roommates. Does it get any better :: yes. Everyone talks how Cali is an expensive place to live and true but Cali has great things to offer. Can't do everything in other states that you can in Cali. It's home.

I'm curious, what are you most looking forward to about moving to Los Angeles? What neighborhoods are you interested in living in? What kind of budget are you working with? @@MikemikeswehomenowMalibu and Beverly Hills are too high profile. They attract trouble because all the dirtbags know where the money and easy targets are. Bell Canyon isn't all gated communities but it's tucked away and not well know. Porter Ranch, La Canada, Sierra Madre, Chevy Chase Canyon, there's a bunch of not so well know places that are really safe and don't attract attention.

It's not. Crime statistics are easy to find. Places like Beverly Hills attract criminals because there's so much wealth. There's much safer places in the greater Los Angeles area. Brentwood, Bel Air, and Pacific Palisades, are nearby and safer. Parts of the Valley and much of the South Bay too.

It's Griffith Park, named after Griffith-Griffith, not Griffin Park!! It's land given to the city by one of my least attractive countrymen. He also paid for the Hollywood Bowl construction, but the Hollywood Trustees understandably don't publicise that.

As a 58 year old man who was born in The City of Inglewood, and raised in Westchester which is set in between two of the top five cities in this video, Playa Vista, and El Segundo. And who now lives next to Los Feliz also mentioned in this video, I don't want to sound like a racist because I'm not. I just tell the truth and point out the obvious to those who have no concept of the real world. All five of the cities (Playa Vista is not it's own incorporated city, but a neighborhood section of The City of Los Angeles) are safe because they are predominantly White upper middle class to upper class areas within LA County. Let me add that Playa Vista isn't even one mile square in size and besides having redeveloped the old Howard Hughes Aircraft Manufacturing site, the developers also ruined what was some of the last natural wetlands in LA County going against their contract to preserve that land and the abundant diverse wildlife, including fox, owls, hawks, rabbits, waterfowl, bobcats, raccoons, and so many more. The land was also living space and burial grounds for the native indigenous tribes that lived here for tens of thousands of years. The development of Playa Vista also contaminated natural ground water and creeks that were supposed to be left alone or improved upon with the development of the property. There was one of the last working farms on the property across the street from Playa Vista where industrial and commercial buildings like Home Depot and other companies bought the land which sits next to Ballona Creek, an ancient natural creek that has been made into a cement storm water runoff into the Pacific Ocean just a mile away, but the farm was Lopez Ranch and it not only was a working family farm but they had a farm store where they sold all of the fresh produce they grew on their farm. That family held onto that property until around 1980 despite being propositioned by Hughes, and other wealthy people and developers constantly being that the farm property was valued as one of the most valuable property per square foot in the U.S. because of it's location and the fertile ground and natural water both above and below ground. I swam in those creeks and hunted or tried to hunt rabbits with bow and arrows and caught frogs and lizards as a kid in the 1970s on that land and the adjacent open space, wetlands, bean fields and bluffs in that neighborhood. It was one of the last of the natural wild spaces in LA. with great historic and natural value that should have been returned to it's original natural habitat for the migrating birds and the other indigenous wildlife that live there. Now, the natural open spaces and waterways have been reduced by half or more in size with traffic and buildings encroaching more and more every year as the developers pay off the City planners to sell off the property that is supposed to be left undeveloped. I know all five of these areas very well. But I will end this after thanking the creator of this video for pointing out a few of the best places to live in LA and LA County, even though it was basically a video to gain business for this realtor who made this video or self promoting advertisement.

Wow, I don't even know where to start with your comment. Personally, I love the community of Playa Vista. My whole family has lived there since the year 2003. Everything you said about Playa Vista is true. But it's also true for all of Los Angeles if you look at it over a 200 year timeframe. Regards to the other communities being safe because they're white communities. Well, I guess that's a white privilege at its finest. Also just the way of life, seems like white folks know how to live a nice communities. As a black man, you would have to explain that to me. I personally know people of every race and background that live in all five of the communities I mentioned in this video. But you are correct they are predominantly white communities. The purpose of this video is for me to gain business by providing value. I hope I achieved my goal. Good luck to you my Bro!!!

@@Living_in_LosAngeles --- thanks for your reply. I meant no disrespect to you, in regards to any of the subjects I brought up. I brought up the bad things about Playa Vista because the developers and the city did some dirty things that they weren't supposed to do and were supposed to do in order to develop that property. I have a soft spot for that specific area and all of Westchester, Playa Del Rey and Marina Del Rey being that is where I grew up and lived until I turned 30 yrs old back in '95. I was born at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood which was located across the street from The Forum. The house I grew up in is at the very Eastern end of Westchester, only two blocks from the Inglewood City line at Manchester and Florence, the Centinela Adobe Ranch House is two streets away. Growing up I had family and friends who lived in Inglewood, my grandparents owned a business at Oak and Manchester. The reason I tell you this is because I have, except for a couple places, lived in areas that are mixed in the people who live in those neighborhoods. Some are still good neighborhoods, some are not. I also don't believe in the whole white privilege rhetoric. I think that's the funniest thing I've ever heard to use as an excuse for people to use for their own shortcomings and not take responsibility for their lack of working hard and taking advantage of the opportunities available, in many ways more opportunities than White people. I am the youngest of four, I wore hand me downs from my brother, my mom made my sisters clothes so they could have a nice new Easter dress to wear to church. My dad struggled to put us in Catholic school but when I was supposed to start 1st grade and my siblings were entering 6th, 5th, and 2nd grades my dad didn't have enough money to pay for four kids, only three and he and my mom met with the Monsignor and asked if he would let him pay one tuition a month or so late and the Monsignor said no. Where was the White privilege? My dad called him every name in the book because he had been devoting spare time at the church and paying for my siblings for years putting money in the basket every Sunday, and he said well, thanks for showing what the church is really about. It isn't for helping or for being charitable it was about greed. So my dad pulled all of us kids and put us in public school. I could give you a thousand stories of how there are no extra privileges for White people and where Black people do have privileges and where they don't, just like everyone in this country. You work hard to better yourself for your family and your future. I didn't get any help financially when I attended Santa Monica City College because I was White and a male, there were no grants or scholarships. So, if you want to believe the narratives that are fabricated to divide the people of this country and to keep us distracted so that we don't take the time to look closer at what our government is doing to us as a whole, all their corruption and political theater, giving away our tax dollars to countries that hate us, instead of taking care of the problems we have here. I'm sure you are smart enough to know when you are being fed garbage by the media propaganda machine. How can you believe in White privilege when so many Black people have done very well for themselves, including you. No one is getting anything that they don't earn. There are more poor White people in this country than poor Black people by population but it's probably equal if looked at by race. No one is holding anyone back except themselves. Right now companies are going to hire a Black person over a White person for a job. That is Black privilege. They will also hire a White woman over a White man. Being a White male in this country is the most oppressed, abused, overlooked, disrespected, mistreated, actually all men are looked down on and are considered disposable, replaceable, slaves of females and the government. We are told we need to be providers and to work to keep the wheels in motion as long as we are working and paying we are considered good boys. But if a man chooses to not get married he is the worst thing on the planet. There is nothing beneficial for a man to get married. It's a losing bet with really bad odds. That's a whole other issue about this society we live in. I want to add that I live, by choice, in one of the worst neighborhoods in the City. I live with my brother in the Westlake District of Downtown. The crime is off the hook. It's definitely not safe to even walk around the corner to the liquor store and it closes at 9pm because it's too dangerous to stay open later. I'm in no way racist. I am a teller of truth, and I don't listen to the news or any television talking heads. More than half of my business is working on films and tv shows. I don't even own a tv set. I march to my own beat. I stay informed about things from all sides and find the truth in between what is being told to the people by using my own mind to reach the answers. I apologize for the length of this reply but I'm not sorry for anything I've said. Keep working hard. Stay safe, stay healthy, and your loved ones as well. If you ever need an electrician, I've got around 35 years in the trade. I do residential and small commercial service, troubleshooting, installs, licensed electrical contractor ex union, plenty of references from every major film and tv studio and production companies as well as small businesses, homeowners, property management companies, etc.... @@13_13k Thanks for sharing your story. I believe every individual is born with some form of privilege. It can be beauty, it can be height, it can be intelligence, and for some, it can be their family lineage. Everyone should exploit whatever privilege they have. @@Living_in_LosAngeles --- I appreciate your reply. I do agree with you that we are all born with some form of personal/individual advantage, but it is not a privilege. We have to find out what it is that we have that is unique from others and embrace that uniqueness and use it to our advantage. Be it looks, athleticism, intelligence, artistic abilities, communication skills, etc... we all have something to usento our advantage if we are not lazy and if we don't use excuses or the easy way out by claiming to be victims or held back or not having the right opportunities or not the same opportunities as someone else. We make our own destiny. We make choices everyday that can lead us to growth and positive results or that keep us in the same place, never changing, and then not holding ourselves accountable and not taking responsibility for our own bad or wrong choices. Instead of learning and becoming more determined through our rejections and failures, we feel sorry for ourselves and then that leads to blaming others instead of admitting to yourself and others that we aren't willing to go through the pain for the gain. For not having the self worth and inner strength to see our way through the hard parts of life. That is the problem. It isn't privilege of having a certain skin color. It can be called monetary privilege, being born into a family of wealth. But these days that could be Black, White, Latino, Chinese, or any ethnicity. Because America doesn't care what color our skin is. If you work hard and believe in yourself and have a dream, it can be achieved by anyone of any background, any color, any religion. When I left the electrician's union after 16 years to get my license and work for myself, I went through my savings that first year and instead of giving up and going back to work for a company, and making $80k a year with benefits, I knew I could work for myself and I just needed a little more time and I would make something happen. I chose to live in my car for over a year. I would get a small job or two, pay my phone bill, eat some food, and one or two nights a week I would get a motel room for $75 a night and shower and sleep in a bed. The more I worked the more nights at the motel. If I didn't have work, back to my car for a few days. It was better than getting an apartment or renting a room and then being evicted because I didn't have rent on time. I lived full-time in that motel for two years paying $2k a month until I was stable with work and confident that I had a steady income or as steady as doing a trade can be. It's always a week to week thing. It's a when it rains it pours or feast or famine business. I might make $200.00 one week and then $2k in one day and $8k a month or $50k in three months. My privilege was being smart enough to get into a trade that allowed me various options to use the skills I was taught (another privilege to have people teach me to be the best electrician among a field of mediocrity) to make a good living. I could have been content working for others and just doing the job. But I wanted more and I didn't want to be an employee forever. I'm sure you have your story about getting where you are today. I'd like to hear it. My info is easy. Google Ken Kaiser Electric/Kaiser Electric in Los Angeles my info is listed
