I have been teaching and presenting for over 30 years. That being said, you deliver a concise, well articulated presentation every time. Its clear that you are objective and candid. I appreciate the integrity of your reviews and wish you the best.
My current duty weapon is a P229. However I personally a 320Xcompact and I really enjoy it. Sig has been a very reliable platform that I do trust with my life. Thanks for the breakdown.
Odd that your agency in 2021 still uses P229s. The NJ State Police sued SIG over "Classic" P229s in 9x19mm. They had problems over training, re qual ammunition. Orlando PD Orlando.gov uses older P226Rs traditional DA-SA. Officers and detectives use smaller P229s too. I've seen a few command staff wearing SIG P365 9mm pistols.
My first Sig was a SP2022. Still the most accurate shooter for me. Perfect weight and size for my hands. Fits like a glove. Even got a great deal on it brand new.
I'm new to shooting, 2022 was my first pistol, had to have a hammer! now looking at it would think trigger is horrible-heavy double action pull, terrible creep, slack on single action. Yet I shoot it way better than my Glock.
My first Sig was a P250 but couldn't hit with it. Traded it for the SP2022 in 9mm. Carried it for several year's. Now it has a light/laser mounted and is my bedside gun. Still a pleasure to shoot.
I'm a small business owner shooting instructor, retired military, shot a lot of different pistols and I teach with the 226 every time because of it's reliability and ease of handling. Thanks for the video!
I like that you listed the FCU in the #1 spot. Sig deserves a lot of credit for bringing this product to market. My main question is about its reliability. I would love to see a 1k round review of a custom gun built with the FCU, not a Spectre comp FCU but an "off-the-shelf" FCU.
Completely agree. The trigger group being removable and interchangeable is genius. Coupled with that being the "firearm" serialized unit and the fact that it allows you to have multiple builds off of that one trigger group is phenomenal. I (and many others) built the 365X (XL grip, traditional 365 slide) before it was even a thing... the possibilities are near endless.
Frankly, I disagree. There is no real advantage to having a FCU that can be removed from one frame and placed into another one, in my opinion. I don’t see anything wrong with it, especially if there is a market there for it, b/c I do believe people should have options they want; however, in this case I see in purely as a niche market many really don’t want or need. The truth of the matter is Sig Sauer has had more issues with their entire line of products than all other top tier manufacturers combined, and there is no excuse for that. The reason is they cut corners b/c the US market just isn’t particular enough to know the difference btwn true quality vs counterfeits. Sig is a joke among many professionals today, and although there are still holdouts who are more interested in defending their uninformed opinions than they are in actually being right, other manufacturers like Canik (which are very nice guns) are gaining ground. If I can’t have a M&P M2.0, HK or Glock I’d take a Canik product before I’d even think about considering anything SigUSA produces.
my first gun was a P226! I thought I had an idea of what I wanted to get after I got my license but when I was introduced to Sig that changed everything!
@@IRONMIKE883 they're becoming more and more available. I've seen p07/09 and the p10 lineup in multiple stores and in greater numbers as they expand their US market
Glad you picked the P210....I still like my P226 MK 25 as reliable and durable, for lowest cost with quality and night sights I go with the SP2022 as full size and lighter, and lastly when the P365 was having growing pains many of us went with the P938 Legion with night sights, SAO, very concealable, 3 mags, and increased the P938 to 7 vs. 6 rounds. Good choices. Thanks.
I’ve been looking at what to get for my first handgun a lot recently and definitely a ton since I cannot even get one until next July. This channel has been an immense help and just wanted to say thanks.
I would love to see more company specific videos. Especially for Dan Wesson (which Is unfortunetely unaviable here in Czech republic) also for CZ and HK.
Im verry happy you have the P210 on the list. IMO it is one of the best pistols ever made. Back in the days, centerfire pistols wasnt legal for sportsshooting here in Denmark. Only rimfire targetpistols… Centerfire pistols wasnt good enough for targetshooting was the general consensus. Then a danish army officer showed up at a competition, and shot better than all of the other guys - with his P210 servicepistol. From that day, centerfire pistols would be allowed for targetshooting. Just a funfact 😅
Grew up firing revolvers, fell in love with 1911 .45 ACP when I got a little older. Issued and trained with P-226 as a sidearm in the military. A friend brought 2gen P-250 to the range one day, and I put beaucoup rounds through it and fell in love with the action and trigger. I bought one that same day. That was 12 years ago, love the modularity of this handgun. Bought the wife one too. It is my EDC in .40 compact, but I can convert to full size in an instant. One other thing it is an all weather nail driver.
Great info! I give considerable support to disabled vets, children's hospitals and some 2a orgs.... great you support homeless shelters....I have a number of 10mm, 9mm single action pistols and single action 45 revolvers....must say I spend more time reloading than shooting....love sig, dw and ruger pistols....carry sig 365 xl...all the best...sp
I'm a big Sig fan, so I definitely like this. However, I'd love to see you do this for current generation CZ, Beretta (check out the awesome new M9A4), S&W, 1911's (no 2011's), and more.
M9A4… had no clue not even a blip on my radar , why isn’t anyone talking about this?! It looks so sweet I’ve never had a beretta but I’ve shot a 92 and the M9A3 and thought they were really slick guns, I was going to buy a 92 that they have at my local gun shop new for $500 but now I know why the price dropped!
I first carried a P226 as a cop back in the 1980’s. I loved it before the department forced us to go to G17 for few parts to stock for a couple of thousand of us. I seem to remember that the P210 came with a European mag release in the 1980’s in either 9mm, .38 super auto, or .45ACP. Shot the P320 at Sig’s instructor course in Epping in 2017. All great guns to shoot.
I own Sig's because they fit my hands best. I have shot many manufactures, models and caliber variants of some. Best out of the box trigger I have ever felt was an SP2022. I have 2, one in 9mm the other in 357SIG. My first Sig was a P226. Still have in. Bought at the Rod & Gun Club while stationed in W.Germany (at the time) and it had the import stamp from Herndon, VA. My current CCW is my P228 with TruGlo TFO sights and 17 round P226 mags with the XGrip mod. Hard to beat the old school classic P series pistols with the folded carbon steel slides IMO. I also have a Zurich Polizei turn in P225. Little disappointed the S2022 got no mention. It is the BEST and most undermarketed gun and for a long time available for under $500
Great list! Love the x5 legion and the 365s. I think I’d have had to include the 229. Especially the enhanced elite with extended beaver tail and srt trigger. It’s an absolute beast!
Good List. Most folks overlook the 210. I made IDPA "M" with the same 226 I took to the academy. Still learning about all the new X5 / 320 options. Loved your piece together.
Hi - I've been watching your videos for a while now and enjoy them greatly. I also wanted to say "Respect to you" for helping others. I'm in London, England.
I'm a new gun owner. Researched for a year and shot a bunch of guns. I purchased a P226 MK25. Yes, I paid a little extra for the anchor symbol cause my dad was in the USN. It's so much fun to shoot it and so comfortable in my hand. Your videos are great. I found them very helpful in my process. Keep them coming!
There's only one Sig handgun I own and it's probably among their most affordable and that's the SP2022. I just got it this year and after more than 2 decades of .45 handgun ownership, I finally joined the 9mm club. I decided to get this to have an alternative ammo option in case .45 became too scarce or too expensive as I can shoot about 3 rds of 9mm for the cost of 2 .45 ACP. The SP2022 is fun to shoot and is pretty accurate. The 15 rd mags are a good capacity and it came with three mags which was great considering the cost of buying extras of those.
Nice list! My list with the 3 Sig pistols I have experience with, P365 I carry the most since I retired, the P226 which was a duty gun for 13 years, and the P320 which replaced the 226. Not a pistol but the MCX shoots sweet also but is more of a pain to field strip than an AR. Thanks for the video!
Man I was hoping to see the AXG scorpion on this list. Everybody who shoots mine immediately falls in love with it. But after watching this…I need that pro cut P226 to add alongside it.
Very good list, love my Sigs, P220 is an awesome weapon in .45acp, I may be the only person i know who put an xl slide on the P365 frame, but with 10, 12, and 15 round mags, grip length is then very flexible. Thanks for the review.
Just became a Patron. I personally have 8 Sig Pistols. My Top 5 almost exactly. 1. MK25 like the legion P226 but I modified my mk 25 with a SRT, Better Grips, and trigger. 2. P220 late 1970s West German made P220 45acp, Just added a Houge grip and it shoots like a laser, and it is a vintage. 3. M11A1 (P228/229) just a perfect Hammer fire compact. Not many bells or whistles (SRT pre installed and smoothest non 1911 trigger imho) but just a great firearm. 4. MY custom 320. It is the best thing about the 320 you can Frankenstein it to make a Monster. 5. P365xl Wife's favorite carry pistol , added the romeo dot. I think best CC firearm. Great work. HONOARABLE MENTION I am working on a P210 now looking forward to completing. Keep it up
Sigs are a lot of fun with their mix & match modularity. Currently running a 365XL with a Spectre slide, custom stippled grip and True Precision threaded barrel and 507K optic. Almost as concealable as the 365. As I recall the grip was too short for you. You might check out XL Tactical's basepads for the standard and 15 round mags. Smooths out the contour of the 15 round and ads some hook and about 4mm extra length to the standard mag.
My carry rig is a Sig P365XL ROMEOZERO in a Crossbreed Super Tuck holster with a combat cut paired with Speer Gold Dot JHP 124 grain + P ammo. This rig is hard to beat!
I am a Sig P320 and P365 Armorer and I love this list. I currently have an X-Five with Custom Shop FCU, 365XL with a Romeo Zero, Stock 320 TX Ranger Edition, and my 320 Custom Build 320 Custom shop FCU, Wilson Combat Grip module, Pro Cut slide and a Delta Point Pro optic. I own quite a few handguns, and if I had to run out of the house with just one gun, it would be my X-Five. By far the smoothest firearm I own. Now if I could just get the trigger as good as those in my Caniks, it would be the perfect gun. I'm getting closer to the Canik level trigger, not quite there yet. Love your videos. You almost always seem to get it right. Great job.
My favorite Sig pistol was a 239 I bought back in 1996 that was 357 sig/ 40 and it was the best pistol I've ever owned. I was in the in the scoring area on a target at 50 yards and have never been able to do that with another pistol. I regret selling that pistol.
I like that you updated your pricing on the FCU since you made your most recent P320 video with your custom build. I got 2 of them for 350 each and built to fantastic guns that aren't quite the xcompact but close and not quite the XF but close. I really enjoyed the experience of assembling them and customizing them using the Wilson Combat grip or the Icarus Precision grip, there's just everything out there for it and you can make it whatever you want, want a carry option? No problem. Want to make a competition gun, grab the X5 grip and you're on your way. Great GRV Chris, I'm a fan of your stuff and actually bought my P07 and p10s off your recommendations so thanks again to you and Mrs. Outlaw for all you do. You guys are a great team.
Great reviews on guns! One of the best and was nice to meet you at the shootout! Great shooter and down to earth person. I bought a pdp because of you and love the gun! Keep up the good work!
Mt favorite Sig Pistol hands down is the P225-A2. It's a poor man's Sig Legion pistol. They used the enhancements of this pistol and figured out that they could add the enhancements and the Legion moniker to the other pistols and make some extra cash. They also liked the idea of a smaller all metal pistol and figured out they would produce the P320 with an all metal slide and give it an AXG suffix. This was the pistol that spurred additional innovations with their other products.
Definitely agree, great platform choices here. I blame the P226 SAO for my current Signess. Definitely would want to see your take on your favorite CZ's as well.
I carried the P 229 for a long time on the job and now carry my own when off duty. Best gun I've ever had. I've also had a couple 239's, one (older model) that I liked a lot and one (newer model) not so much.
I’d like to see a beretta video with hopefully emphasis on LTT (PX4 and or 92/M9)! Or better yet, one video of beretta and then another with only LTT’S!
I'm about to buy a p229 enhanced elite next week, just waiting on the store to receive it from sig. I would absolutely love the legion but because I'm in CA I can't buy it new.. it is one of my dream handguns!
planning on buying the P320 model myself to not only carry to the range (thanx to an abundance of 9mm ammo), but to conceal carry (now that I not only have a carry permit, but also a good holster for it)
Wow. The first 2 Sigs I bought are on this list. Good info. Delivered with succinct confidence and professionalism. Highly recommend your channel to others.
I'm just seeing this; however, I think it's one of your best videos I've watched. Granted, I'm partial to Sig, having two P226s and a P365. IMHO, compared to other pistols I have owned / own, I always like what Sig delivers. (Others in my past / present, XD9 Subcompact, M&P compact, Glock 33 & 36, and a few others.) Being in a hot state, concealed carry is more difficult if it's over 80 degrees teen months of of the year. Thanks for the great video. 🙏
I have a Sig P220. It’s an oldy, but goldy. I have had it for awhile, and love it. I wish it was a double stack, but unfortunately it doesn’t come that way in .45. I equipped it with a red dot laser sight built into the grip, and love it. Not my EDC gun due to the size, but a great home defense gun, or a spare carry for the truck. The stock P365 is my favorite carry gun, hands down.
The FCU felt like a copout since you already had a 320 in the list. But I'll allow it, because your reasoning behind it makes perfect sense. The Modular Handgun System was made specifically because the US Military wanted a handgun that was as modular and versatile as the M4. And it comes damn close! If not for the fact that the takedown safety lever has to be swapped out if you want to go between 9mm and 45acp/10mm, it'd be perfect. You can still go between 9mm and 357, but it sure would be nice if Sig made some updated parts that made swapping to the larger calibers on the same FCU easier.
After owning many brand 9mm pistols k bought a SIg 1911 in 10 mm auto for bear country (5” barrel, night sights) and it has become my everyday carry in the waistband at almost 5 lbs loaded it is heavy but it’s sight plane and accuracy makes comfortable and confident.
1 swiss sig p210. petters patent. 2 first x5. built on a 226. much better than the recent versions 3 browning bda. the one i bought in 1977. a very early 220 that browning imported before sig sold anything in the us. slightly thinner and lighter than what sig started importing around 1980. 4 365. a great little cary piece. 5 everything else meh. true i’m an old fud but the quality of my antique colts, winchesters and smith and wessons are so much better than anything built recently. that being said i really enjoy your channel and it’s nice to see some of the new high quality pistols coming from some of the small shops.
@@thelastcopier there’s no such thing as the 92X FS. They make the 92 FS. The 92X is the newest standard model with a changed grip and few other things. The “92X performance” is a different model. Person above said 92X not 92X performance. And no 92 “FS” is does not designate full size. This is why I was curious. If they liked a standard 92X over a 226 legion then shit ain’t no sense spending legion money. Now I’m itching more to try them both.
My first handgun purchased was a P226 back in 92 (still have it). Sigs feel comfortable and I shoot them well. Not a fan of the Legion line, seems like a marketing thing to make more money (IMO). My current favorite is my P226 Navy aka Mark-25, that Navy anchor on the slide looks cool.
😊 I’m a Sig fan so I like this. I own P365SAS, P356XL, P238, P938 Legion, P320 Compact, and the P2022 and love them all. But I do own other guns that I like too - such as the Kimber 45ACP ultra II 3” which is my current favorite …but I’m fickle. 😂 Great review I loved it.
I’ve had the P365 for a couple years and it is my favorite. I was especially disappointed that the SP2022 was not included. Great feel and balance and excellent trigger pull. I have mine in .40.
@@jerstolp1 Too many? All it has extra is a decocking lever, common with many pistols that are not striker fired. Once loaded, no way do you want to be walking around with the hammer cocked back while holstered. It releases the hammer without it striking the firing pin, and makes the trigger double-action again for the first shot. I’m going to assume you’re either young and only dealt with striker-fired pistols or are new to handguns. Is that the case? I ask because instead of maligning one utterly reliable and well-balanced pistol, instead recognize there are a large number of handguns from multiple manufacturers that have either decockers or decocking safeties. They are nothing that gets in the way of the firing process and nothing you’d worry about if needing to use the weapon. I hope that helped a bit with your knowledge. 😊
I like how you don't just sit in front of the camera and talk. That's what makes this channel different. Most gun information channels, "Show gun. Talk. Talk. Show gun. Shoot. Talk talk. Says good bye"
I have the P220 10mm Legion. It is my only Sig and my most expensive handgun. Love to see a review on that one. I kind of baby it and haven't shot it a whole lot.
I have a p250 and i love it, never jams and is very easy to shoot. Plus the modularity of it is very cool. I love that the 320 and 250 use the fcg being the legal part of the gun and allows caliber barrel grip change is epic.
Been a Sig armorer since the 1990's. Wasn't a huge fan and I had shot a bunch. I kept hearing about the P320 AXG Pro so I bought one. Seriously. I can hit a small target at 60+ yards fast fire. Easy to hit a standard target say B21E from 100 + no problem standing. Very impressed and now my carry gun. Back when I went to academy you had 6 shots at 50 yards in the kill zone 3 must be in the center or back to the front of the line and start over.
Many years ago a friend of mine brought his new Sig Sauer Revolution 1911 pistol to the range and let go through a few mags. It was the most accurate pistol I'd ever fired, and I was mag dumping into a 2-inch circle at 15 yards. Sig no longer makes those but I've been heavily impressed with the P365 XL "Roland Special" I've built and carry daily. Definitely want to get an FCU and build up a 4" carry pistol and 5" combat rig.
Thanks for confirming my choices. I have a 365XL and P320 Legion. With the FCU from the Legion, I boughted complete uppers along wire a new grip and now have a M17 + M18. And yes I love in one of those awful states. But won't retire here. Thanks for sharing. Now I want a 226.
My first Sig was a P365XL I bought early this year. Until then I just had an old S&W Sigma. A few months later I found a used P229 Nitron DA/SA in 357 Sig with the legacy slide from 2007, and the moment I held it I knew it was coming home with me.
I gravitate towards the less esoteric Sigs, my first WAY back was the P226; loved it, but it printed a bit too much, so I traded it on a P228 I carried for years. Bought a P220 for a car and house gun. Then got a P229; gave the P220 to one of my sons and got a P227. In my twilight years, if a gun goes bang every time I pull the trigger, I'm good and only need a couple, sso I've begun giving my high end guns away and staying with the basics.
i have the 226 Navy Special limited edition gun. Sits in the safe, due to not having a rail but it is the one that SIG donated to a chairty for those lost in combat.
Excellent excellent reviews. All for good reason. I'd love a 210 with the dust cover scalloped and truncated some, the target model has a fully adjustable sight, and that 226 Legion also floats my boat. SIG has had some history of somewhat less than sterling execution, as I once returned a 229 whose sights were very poorly regulated, and the SA trigger pull was considered to be "in spec," when it was very creepy - which no P220+ series pistol ever had. In any event, they seem to have their stuff together now - and they should, given the pricing. I hope to acquire one or more of your list, and thank you for your service as well as your support for the kids.
GREAT video, as per usual. Got to add my own list, even though this came out a year ago and therefore no one will see this. In no particular order... 1.) P226 TacOps, 40sw 15+ rounds, night sight with fiber optic front, ability to switch caliber to 357Sig with a simple barrel swap. The ONLY firearm I own that everyone who's fired it have asked if I wanted to sell it (no). 2.) P227 TacOps 14+1 of 45acp in basically the same package as the P226 above - whats not to love?? 3.) P365 TacOps (Seeing a trend here??) Same as the standard P365, with 3 12rd mags (got no use for the 10rd mags, sorry). 4.) M1A1 (P229) Smaller version of a P226, dead-nuts reliable like all of the hammer-fired P series Sigs, and just looks cool (mine is in green). 5.) MPX - I don't own one, but I sure wish that I did!
I have been so loving my P365 XL. Bought it for summer carry. I like carrying my 1911 in winter but it just might get alternated. Such a sweet good feeling and shooting little piece
Great list! I agree with the P226 SAO Legion. I have the original SAO, which is nice. When I wanted to upgrade the trigger, I was informed that the Legion trigger wasn't available as a standalone, so I broke down and bought the Legion. The trigger is much better, even after a trigger job on my original. Also agree with the 365 choice. I have an XL with a very inexpensive spring job, which makes the reset much better. Very accurate, especially for a carry gun. The P210 is also excellent, I think you would have enjoyed the target model (which I have) even more. Obviously I love my Sigs, so I won't burden anyone with the other ones I own. LOL
My favorite is my Nightmare fastback carry 1911 and the red headed step child SP2022 9mm I have almost every popular gun you can name , Glock 19 , 3 M&Ps , echelon , etc and the Sp2022 is still one of my favorite 9s
I have 2 226 pistols in full size. One Legion SAO and recently got a MK25 DA/SA. The legion is a fantastic range gun and shooting pistol, but depending on your hand and finger size the safety (when disengaged) may give you issues when attempting to hit the slide release. I do love the slide serrations and added grip serrations on the grip and trigger guard as well. I find the MK25 to be a better home defense weapon, with the DA still allowing for a "safe" option without an obstructive safety lever, and the SA allowing for quick follow-ups if it's time to dispense some "discouragement". Threw a greyguns SRT and an adjustable flat trigger in the MK25 and it almost performs as the Legion.
I ADORE my P226 Legion DA/SA! It's a few years old, so doesn't have a cutout for optics, but it is a treat to shoot! I can ring steel all day from 100 yds and I'm not really very good. I also really like my P365 (standard).
Great video sir I just got the Sig P320 XCarry Legion one of the best sig pistols I have ever shot and I own the P229 Legion and the P226 MK25, keep up the great job luv your reviews
