There's been nary a mention of Rogue Squadron in the new post-Disney continuity. It was awesome to see Wedge and hear mention of the Rogues in Squadrons, but what the hell. I mean, it seems like there's this conscious effort to not address them anymore.

I feel like blue squadron should've been included because their squadron saved the alliance and without them the entire ground team on scarif wouldve been decimated by air attack and AT ATs. Also they just had the pilots with the biggest balls. Like Antoc Merrick with that awesome mustache and the 3 pilots that didn't make it to the ground. One of them litterly ran up on a star destroyer and blew its shield allowong gold squadron to make its iconic Ion Torpedo attack follwing it up with the Lightmaker

Renegade Squadron, Not strictly a fighter only squadron but they do it all to ground defense and has save the rebellion in it's entirety several times. And has survived shootouts and dog fights with several notorious characters in the galaxy. Including the Emperor.

Where's Wraith Squadron? They maybe legends but they had a whole book series

I like Phoenix Squadron because it was part of the Phoenix cell, which got pesky enough for Thrawn to take a personal interest. Had it not have had been for plot armor, the Rebels would have been wiped out by Thrawn. They likely should have sent all transmission to some random, abandon base set to self destruct when a ship came near. No doubt Thrawn would have somehow managed to find where the proxy was sending the message to, however it might have given Phoenix Squadron and the Massassi Group enough time to evacuate to a second base.

Really like that Rogue Squadron is on the list and especially that it got a legends shout out to it as well Legends version of Rogue squadron was one of the best Squadrons with some of the most interesting Characters and Pilots (Ie: Tycho Celcu)

My personal squadron in head canon: blue squadron (not every squadron can have a unique name), consisting of BTL-A4 Y wing bombers, attached to the venator class star destroyer liberation during galactic civil war. They flew many different kinds of missions, from bombing missions to escort missions, and their motto was: squadron first, others second, mission third Also good to see gold squadron up there, they diserve it Also, you mean rogue squadron, right? Oh wait, never mind

"Rogue Squadron", the first major Star Wars video game since Atari's "The Empire Strikes Back," which was an awesome game itself, which I played many a hours as Luke Skywalker (Rogue Squadron! unpromoted.) I loved that "Rogue Squadron," N64, featured Wedge Antilles as the player/user character for the game, which he rightfully deserved. Generation Tech, I can't think of any other squadron who should be changed with upon your given list here. And, thank you for mentioning the Y-Wing pilot who survived the Battle of Yavin. She doesn't get enough credit. In fact, many people forget/don't realize that one Y-Wing did survive and return from the attack on the first Death Star, probably because she didn't get any screen time during the hologram documentary of the historical (time defining) Battle of Yavin (0-B.Y.)

when it comes to squadrons, one that doesn't get mentioned but deserves a lot of love & respect, is Gray Squadron. their leader, Gray Leader himself aka Horton Salm, is kind of like a cross mix of Ken Watanabe if he had the personality of Jean Rasczak (Michael Ironside) from Starship Troopers. plus, his Y-Wing Fighter itself is unique with that dewdrop design on the front. Gray Leader is so cool that I even went as far to get him and his ship custom made for me back as a Christmas present in 2019. as much as I like Dutch "Gold Leader" Vander and the rest of Gold Squadron, I do think Gray Leader is easily one of the best and most dedicated squadrons in all of Star Wars.

I’ve ALWAYS been a Y-wing fan. Even before I sat down and watched Star Wars as a 6 year old (The original trio. Phantom Menace was like 8 years off and the Remakes were a few years off ((The first major big and recognized remakes.)) anyways) I saw X-wing and Y-wings on the back of some cereal. I remember calling the X-wings “Dumb weird 4 wing space ship. Butterfly Wings? And cool, mini enterprises!!” (Yeah was a hardcore Trekkie from like 4 to 6. I still loved it and called myself a Trekkie up until about the time of Clone Wars Episode II. By then I was just a fan of both series. At about 18 I picked up ‘Shadows of the Empire’ while in recovery from a car accident that left me bed ridden for 3 months. Since then I’ve been a hardcore Star Wars fan. Written entire OC novels, researched the entire EU (I know more than that hack Pablo Hildalgo, who is so inexperienced and idiotic he named Luminya married Luke Skywalker and their daughter Shira Bree and I quote “Was a big inspiration for bringing Rey to the spot light.” How can you work at a dream job and get the most common question that even most trekkies who’ve only seen about 10 minutes of a Star Wars film could answer correctly? Like seriously? And how do fans support him and Dave Filoni still for their blatant destruction of Mandalorian history and basically then flipping off the entire Mando fan base with that horrendous Mandalore thing on the worse version of Clone Wars? I mean In EU, land of insanely stupid and approved ideas, even they brought Maul back. But right. He was never a Sith Lord or even trained to be one. He had less force ability training than a 5 year old Padawan. He was an Assassin. Trained as a Sith Assassin and taught about fifty percent of their methods only. He never had a place at Sidious side. Plagieus named him and instructed Palpatine how to train a Sith Assassin. So he did. So what’s Filoni do and that hack Hildalgo tries to defend and say was always a thing? Filoni brings back Maul as a crazed cyborg. Which EU did. Maul then goes on to attack Kenobi in a rage after hunting him down only to be destroyed. Easily. What’s Filoni do? Makes him a crazed cyborg… then retcons Maul to make a full recovery and suddenly have more training and more respect to him than Dooku and the skill of a Sith Apprentice. And Gained control of the Death Watch, not the Mandalore, cuz Mandalore are royal. Only Death Watch holds true to those ignorant customs. And even though it would take hundreds of years to reign an entire population based on nomadic and barbaric settling methods, the Mandalorians were so awesome they did it in less than 20. Named a royal family that had zero ties to a Mandalore, and established the ones who’d be royalty using Filonis… awesome… writing… *Cough* as not at all related to Mandalore and in fact Mandalore all along was a traitor and the Katan and Vizslas were terriost clans not a family. Ordo was also a terriost. We know you dunno the other names except Viszla who in the EU was not a descendant of a former “Mandalorian Jedi” (Which couldn’t exist unless the Taung of Tattooine undid the damage they themselves wrought on the species after messing with Star Forge -- couldn’t exist, and after the Taung died out with a Mandalore the Conqueror, the Mandalorians no longer existed as a race so their wouldn’t ever be one. Even in the horrid canon it makes no sense, as obviously Mandalorians are human. And the black lightsaber is a Sith weapon, and unstable blade that can warp and bend other plasma blades or lightsabers so it makes them null. Filoni made his…. Do nothing as the colors mean nothing and lack variety. “If your Bad? Red. Bad can only have red. That’s it. Oh? Bad guy became good guy? Then white. Either way, being strong, independent thinker and viewing anything that isn’t socialism or communism as working (they literally cannot work. No matter how hard you try, just can’t soundly have a successful and peaceful economy using those methods. They are horrid methods put fourth as lulz for an ancient book and people still wanna try it)Makes you a terrible evil person. But really lame. Like Kylo Ren. Everything else it’s Green or Blue. Then a shoe horned reason for a purple one. In legends the black saber, while stupidly over powered, had a reason to exist. It stood out and did something unique. In todays EU? Or Canon they say as they keep editing it too their liking? There is no reason for it too be. Mandalorian would be nothing more than a human. So he’d have a green or blue saber. How’d it even turn black? No one knows. Only humans can do it. And it can be wielded by anyone. Even non force users even though a weapon that hot and precise needs the force to explain anyone using it, apparently in new canon everyone is that precise so it has no reason to do anything. It’s dumb like Filoni and Hildalgo, neither who are very big fans of the EU, and neither who have anything more than a passing knowledge of the name of things at best, proved they had no idea of anything Star Wars when Filoni brought in the Dark Saber and had Maul hunt for it like it had any meaning, and Hildalgo saying it’s all original and never been done (Which all of it beyond a what if on Maul if he were properly trained and came back for revenge (It’s so much better and narratively it all actually makes sense) and when Filoni said everyone knew Maul was a back up (he never was even considered because he was versed poorly in night sister magick due to his birth, which Filoni never gave credit for and told he and George came up with it. No, Filoni. George and the true successor to be, Timothy Zahn, a guy who actually loved and still follows the old EU, wrote long before you. And the fact the supposed “keeper of the Holocron” who claimed it was so well written and the fresh story Star Wars always needed… As he read his Holocron. Knowing full well it has been done before and was poorly received before the comic on his cybernetics took that route and instead took the correct route and had the mad cyborg seek revenge and die in the dust fields of tattooine. Not trying to be a Sith, not serving his Master, though he kinda thought he was, and not as a ‘rival’ But as a man near death suffering from sever PTSD. Hildalgo and Filoni are horrible for Star Wars. Holdalgo odiginalky got coffee for the original Holocron compilers. He knows nothing and openly admits to disliking Star Wars. The moron said Exar Kun reference in Rouge One wasn’t a reference but just a nod to the EU…. Even though Disney stated otherwise. He said Revan was a female and the Exile a Male. Luminya was Luke’s wife. Shira Bree was their child not Ben Skywalker. Ben Solo was wholly original. Jaecen Solo?! Oh, that’s who Ben Solo is based on.” All the guy does is lie. And Filoni agrees with him 9/10 times. And people support one, the other, or both. Not knowing those two are gonna be the reason it falls.

A little bit off-topic, but is there any reason that the Empire and First Order did not use a combination of missiles and tractor beams? The basic idea is that you hold your target in place and pop them with one of the missiles that you see in the force awakens. Use two missiles if you wanna be safe.

You said the only survivors to the DeathStar Attack were Luke and Wedge, and what about the Y wing flying with them at the end? I've never known who the hell was that but was indeed a 3rd survivor ;P

What about echo or blue squadrons?

Watching some of the videos about the various ships and navies in star wars I started wondering, why is it that in the old republic, new republic and first order, that a general is in overall command of a military force, and I don't just mean a ground force, they also seem to command the naval forces despite having admirals for that already, hell in the clone wars admirals acted as advisors to Jedi generals and those generals even led the space battles at times and only let the admirals take over when they had something else to do, general Hux of the first order is the same as in general Leia Organa and Hera Syndulla of the new republic/rebel alliance. Why is this? The Galactic Empire stuck to admirals being in charge and not generals, but those same admirals seem to be able to command ground troops, its all very confusing, who is in charge? I assume that these two ranks are from different military branchs like earth militaries, General being an Army/Ground Force rank and Admiral being a Naval rank so how come they can both command each others military branch units and even each other?

You Imperial choices should be interesting. Specifically and generally. All of them did fight since the origin of it all and didn't pervert too much the final victory and fufilment of the Sith order's of the Emperor at Rey Palpatine Skywalker's light sword and sorcery hand. I like your choices very difficult to choose between them but Blade are interesting due to the Kuat Dockyards second to Exegol many young Imperials or New Republicans might know. I'm glad you appreciate Mon Mothma and there isn't the entire campaign explained anywhere yet I'm aware of. The Secret Academies of the Empire could have many way finders by now distributing the Star Destroyer blueprints which wasn't at Exegol ,much the same as the recent Jedi Order escaping Order 66 and Obi Wan Kenobi products.

I really don't understand the X Wing from a design and purpose standpoint. I mean with the A Wing its a Interceptor, Y Wing a Bomber, B Wing powerful canons. X Wing.... ? maybe could have been something like a F 14 Tomcat. Have a powerful rader system and long range missiles to take out targets beyond visual range.

I'd say Poes Black Squadron and Wedges Rogue were 2 of the best if not THE best of their periods. Dunno bout too many others An speaking of which... say on Hoff for example.. if not them snow speeders, would air support have been more effective if theyd been straifing the hell outta the imperials in their Xwings instead??
