Jeff George had the strongest arm I’ve seen. I just watched a Randy Moss video, and George threw a 55 yard pass to him on a line, no air under it. He also made long throws look effortless.
i was expecting to see josh at 1 but i was definitely looking to see jeff george somewhere in this list. he’s super underrated talent wise. top 5 arm no doubt
Jeff had one of the best looking balls. Tight spiral, quick release. I don't know if its the strongest arm though. The top arms should always start with these guys: Favre, Cunningham, Testaverde, Vick, Kordell Stewart. Those guys could sling it crazy long distances.
Jeff should be in the list if not in the top 3 then replace Flacco with George. He threw a 60 yard bullet that took less than 3 seconds and barely had an arch vs the Seahawks once. I could never forget seeing that pass...
@@mintgumornot how many particular passes do you remember from other QB's that didn't win a superbowl etc. some, sure but I will never forget the cannon that dude had.
Whenever i think of vick, that flick he threw on the first play of that MNF game to d.jax pops in my head. With a simple flick of the wrist that ball travelled 60 yards in the air
Yeah and that to me is more impressive, then just being able to throw far, to throw far but throw fast, yes mike Vick had a cannon, and Lamar Jackson to has a cannon, I’ve seen both throw 70+yards with a flick of the wrist
I was at a game in Charlotte against Carolina in 97 . I was in the corner of the end zone when Favre rolled out to his right and drilled a 40 yard bullet to Antonio Freeman for a touchdown. He stepped into it like he was trying to throw a hole into him. I could hear the air sizzling off the ball over the crowd. Just an unreal arm.
@Terrell James I'd say Mahomes has a stronger arm, but not as accurate as Rodgers. I've seen him be pretty off frequently on deep throws. I've seen him mainly throw deep balls like the one seen in this video. Jump balls. Not really hitting WRs accurately in stride.
You understand his throw while at Wyoming was atmosphere related, it is the highest college football stadium in the country by elevation. Bet you didn't know that grasshopper
@@terencehill2320 Well his arm is even stronger and he's in Buffalo where the elevation plays no part in the bombs he throws all over the field!! Strongest arm for a qb ever!!
JaMarcus Russell was a complete bust and very inaccurate…but the guy had the strongest arm of any QB in existence. My Top 5 arms: 1. Jamarcus 2. Michael Vick 3. John Elway 4. Bert Jones 5. Steve Bartkowski, Brett Favre or Michael Bishop.
Bert Jones is an interesting pick.Strong arm but i don't know how far he could throw it. Guys who could out-throw most of the people you mentioned: Kordell Stewart, Randall Cunningham, Vinny Testaverde
I could agree with most of these but I think Mahomes arm is a little overrated, definitely not #1 of all time. I would have to include Elway, Jeff George, Marino, Mike Vick and Jay Cutler. Josh Allen does have a bazooka though
Right and im a packers fan have been since 96 haha and farve had a stronger arm then ar12 literally ask any of the recievers that played with both farve would break fingers
I'll just add this for everyone..My good friend from my childhood, his father Bob was telling me about when he was young he watched Jim Brown and Otto Graham in his youth. And old Bob H. had passed on back in the 90's. Anyways he told me that during a practice he literally watched Otto throw a ball from endzone to endzone, 100 yrds... he assured me he saw this with his own two eyes. Bob was a straight shooter too. R.I.P. Bob H.
I highly doubt this, 75-80 yds is probably the human limit for loose ball throw, no wind. Aaron Rogers has longest completion in NFL real game at 68.5 yards. And PJ Walker has longest touchdown completion at 67.7 yards, which broke Randall Cunninghams 1987 TD record throw. There are only 20 NFL completions exceeding 62.5 yards, and Aaron Rogers has 4 of those. Mahomes only has 1 but it was in a preseason game, not a real contest. Measured release hand position plus diagonal distance.
Legend has it that Deter Brock might have had the strongest arm - not the most arm talent - but the strongest. Before a CFL game in Calgary (higher altitude), throwing their larger ball (at the time) it went 93 yards. In Los Angeles he was a walk on and was regularly throwing 70 yarders for two hours
yeah...you didn't exist in the 80's lol....take a look at the receivers that played with John Elway....they all have crooked fingers from numerous passes that they caught....and also Dan Marino, Jeff George and of course the original "cajun" cannon Terry Bradshaw
In terms of pure "throw it over them mountains" strength, Smokin' Jay has to be in the conversation. Im a younger fan so i missed a lot of these guys but i always liked watching Cutler do that rollout, throw a rainbow motion because it more often than not flew out of his hand fast enough to make you question how the he did it with a flick of the wrist. The other measurables are a different conversation but in terms of raw arm strength and wowing you with it, hes no pushover.
The most impressive show of arm strength I ever saw was Elway’s throw to Ken Margerum against USC in 1980. I never saw a professional throw equal it, not even by Elway himself. He threw a 70-yard, cross-field frozen rope, while on the run. It spent shockingly little time in the air, and it knocked Margerum onto his back. It went over the head of an astonished Ronnie Lott, who’d parked himself at what he thought was the maximum distance that a quarterback could throw. To this day, Lott simply shakes his head at it. The second-strongest arm, in my estimation, belonged to Jay Schroeder, believe it or not. He was erratic and his career was short, but good grief, he slung it.
I actually went to find the footage of that throw...and omg..it definitely traveled about 70plus yards bec he threw it from the sideline to almost the middle of the field....no big arc on the throw, a super fastball!...that is now the best throw i ever seen.
I watch NFL since early 90' and i have to say that when It comes to arm strenght Josh Allen stands in a league of his own. Maybe only the best Elway and Favre can come close...
(Trying to convince myself) Matthew Stafford definitely does not exist. Matthew Stafford definitely does not exist. Matthew Stafford definitely does not exist.
Dan Marino, John Elway and Jeff George had the 3 strongest arms in NFL history. Randall Cunningham had a ton of over 70 yard throws. Warren Moon had a better arm than Mahomes.
This list was a joke any list that doesn't have Terry Bradshaw and John elway at the top doesn't know anything about sports Terry Bradshaw was a javelin and shot put champion he could throw the ball so f****** far and elway has the strongest arm to ever walk this Earth he threw it from the one sideline to the other side line which is 54 yards like 40 yards down the field in a playoff game against the oilers look up that play 90 yd
Marino and Elway are a myth. They have strong arms but they were exposed in the 90s in those NFL skills challenge competitions. Many of their contemporaries had stronger arms and they knew it.
thats right...i forgot about joe....but knew about the original "cajun cannon" TBradshaw...but he had to retire due to arm and shoulder damage. Remember the "immaculate reception" Franco Harris, that was a Bradshaw flat footed 40 yrd pass that ricocheted off of Jack Tatum 20 yrds backwards into Franco's hands...that was a smoker....
@@kiggss Josh Allen is incredible. My wife is a huge Bills fan so mad respect for his game but there is no other human that can throw like John Elway. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZQ-rP0zYvsA.html Go to 1:48. That's Elway high school before he got stronger. If you ever see a throw like that again, you will be lucky. I've been watching 50 years never seen anything like it before or since. Thanks for the reply by the way.
@@wisemang73 If we go by pure velocity, only Brett Favre can rival John Elway. Both were considered to consistently rip their throws in excess of 60mph. Both have caused injury to their receivers because they threw INSANELY hard. Broken fingers, pads, chest bruises, and even lacerations.
I watched Mahomes throw his rookie year in warm ups before a game throw a 85 to 90 yard pass the crowd and the all the people on the field including the other team just watched in amazment
Terry Bradshaw could throw it 80 yds and he said the strongest arm he ever saw was Bert Jones. During his college days, Jones could throw it 105 yards. John Madden said he saw Darryl Lamonica throw it the length of the field in practice.
In my opinion it was Elway hands down. Mahomes fastest recorded throw was 60 mph tying him with Logan Thomas the TE in Washington for second hardest recorded throw. Allen threw the ball a recorded 62 mph the hardest throw. However Vinny Testaverde holds the record for longest football thrown in the air at 80 yards. However many believe that John Elway had the strongest arm ever. For a baseball comparison (as seen above) Elway in front of baseball scouts once stood on home plate and could throw the ball over the fence routinely without a running start (you need more than 90mph at 66 feet to do that). Something almost no one can do even today. He also broke his receivers fingers all the time. You have to throw a football hard to break the bone of someone who knows how to catch it correctly. Also he left something called the “Elway cross” on the hands and bodies of other players. He would literally leave a bruise that is the cross “+” on the nose of the football on anyone he hit with the football be that in their chest, hands, etc... and to compare, yes Mahomes and Allen threw clocked throws at 60 and 62 mph (yes they probably have topped that by a few mph) but according to some reports Elway could throw a football at 80 mph and why that is probably wrong, it’s been estimated by multiple sources he hit 70 more than once
Mike vick had one the hardest arm in the game he be in my top 5. His bullet left blisters on receivers hands. Yall do my dog so wrong. He could throw too. Also Cunningham and Warren moon should be mentioning.
These are indeed strong arms. But I encourage everyone to go see some Jeff George highlights. He could throw 60 yards of his back foot on a rope..It's too bad he couldn't get along with anyone
@@toasternfriends3329 Look it up yourself. Not many links in 1983. Plus Elway hit 66 mph at age 30 in Denver. Go read the book 'Elway:Armed and Dangerous'. I'm not doing the research for you. Allen and Elway both have a stronger arm than overrated Mahomes though.
Randall Cunningham Michael Vick Warren Moon Jeff George Dan Fouts Brett Favre John Elway Dan Marino Aaron Rodgers I’m sure all of them could throw the ball 70 to 80 yards. As I recall, Cunningham threw a ball 80 yards in one of those Pro Bowl Weekend passing competitions.
@@compxeditz8467 - Of course. I’m mostly listing QB’s from the past with the exception of Aaron Rodgers. Personally, I think Lamar Jackson could probably hurl a football 70-80 yards, too. He looks like he has the arm strength, power, and explosion to throw it that far. Maybe Russell Wilson, too. He has a cannon for an arm as well.
@@theesotaricitalian6338 You are correct. How does one throw a frozen rope 50 yards or more? Dan Marino sure could. I wonder if anyone has looked into scientifically analyzing quickness-of-release, ball speed, distance thrown, etc.
Sorry. Allen threw at the combine over 82 yards twice. Mahomes couldn’t do it and didn’t. Rich Eisen was laughing at what looked like a punt from J Allen. His arm is def stronger than mahomer
Even though he beat the living snot out of Elway in the Super Bowl I'm sorry and I know you like him but nobody nobody had a stronger arms and John Elway people that know football I mean really know football will admit that six days a week and twice on Sunday. ESPN did a really cool program on NFL strongest arms and unanimously their panel voted John Elliott number one
Dan Marino has to be on Any Strongest Arm List. I think Herbert's Arm might be the strongest in the NFL today, Ive seen orher guys throw 60 plus but he hit a 70 yard slant to a reciever in stride where the reciever didn't slow down or anything. I only seen him and Dan Marino do that.. Also if uts just About Arm Strength and nothing else JaMarcus Russell might be up near first with Dan Marino. Warren Moon had an absolute Cannon and Jeff George Also had a cannon with no accuracy.
Wtf?? Jeff George would tell them to quit putting so much air under the ball, then proceed to throw a ball 70yds with less than 20ft of height from tbe ground
There are some people bringing up quality names here in the comment section. As far as raw arm strength, taking out qb play, some names of qb’s that have thrown the ball 80+ yards in the air either in a verified pro day or the NFL quarterback challenge: JaMarcus Russell Jeff George John Elway Warren Moon Tony Banks Vinny Testaverde
I sitting there wondering who could possibly be 1st and of course they dick ride Mahommes. Should’ve guessed it. Honestly it’s a toss up between Joe Flacco, Jamarcus Russell(who was strangely absent), and Jay Cutler(who was also absent). My money is on Jamarcus, we’ve NEVER seen any like that before, dude had the best arm in the history of mankind which means he had the potential to be the greatest qb of all time but unfortunately he didn’t have the work ethic to match it. Honorable mention: Matthew Stafford
Vick didn't even throw it as far as randal cunningham bro. vinny testaverde threw it 80 yards so did jeff george and now patrick mahommes, and josh allen, however jamarcus russel though he wasn't very good was probably the strongest arm in nfl history, and could throw over 50yards on his knees.
@@andreawhalen4142 Cardale Jones threw it farther then that on his knees. And Vick did throw it over 80 yards. Go check his college throw. And he also did it in the NFL, but not in the game though
