That Reposition Selected Items feature is killer!! I'm a Voice Actor and occasionally get Clients requesting single files with specific pauses between phrases. Being able to batch process those pauses is going to be a HUGE time saver
I've found the Marker Actions really useful for turning on and off the metronome at certain points. Something I'd struggled to find a way to do when recording by yourself. For example, towards the end of a song you might slow right down and go into free time and find the metronome really off-putting. Before finding this feature, I was having to manually record a click on a separate track, and paste it where ever I needed it
Good use for that but I think click source might be better for you "insert click source" makes a metronome item on a track. Source properties to modify the settings.
I sure like the grid size adjustment SWS Cycle Action thing. I'm not a programmer. It would be cool to get it working. Not enough hours in the day to try to do what you did at 6:30.
Thanks for this video, Jon. Quick question - I tried to do multiple parent child color rules and it seems it will only allow one? I wanted one for each orchestra section. Is there a work around? Thanks again.
looking at your chapters : I would like to add SWS Notes window, Sartup actions, Label processor, and ReaScript API functions ! (and tempo actions :P) for Reposition Selected Items, it is good but my Set Items Position and Order Scripts goes way way much further, with group positioning, several additional actions (sorting by name, by max peak..., shuffling etc), several time units, presets support, no popup mode etc.... The SWS action is nice but way too much limited compared to it for advanced workflow. :P
Again a very pratical video. Thank you. One question though: Using the auto color extension, is it possible to use wildcard symbols, so for example verse * would be any thin that is called verse, like verse 1, verse 2 etc... would automatically have the same color?
Hey! Thanks, I have been coming back to this video a couple of times. Maybe I'm missing something but loudness analysis is not taking into account FX in the channel. I have tried different settings. I'm guessing that the reason is that it doesn't because of the API as I just read here. Do you mind double checking or help me clear a little bit this doubt? I have measured without FX, with FX (on channel), media item with & without Take FX & bounced stereo. Only the bounced stereo and with Take FX show different results. When you have "Selected Tracks" on, it does use "Take Fx" as part of the analysis, not what is inserted on the channel. Thanks for your videos again, they are really helpful. :) wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Measure_and_normalize_loudness_with_SWS
Question: Does the color of the track also make the FX window the same color? I'd like a feature where the FX window's color matches the track's color. Any suggestions?
anyone know how to custom color custom fx parameters in mixer panel? Like the dials. Can we make a special color for each one? I'm trying to put my ssl mixer embedded into the reaper mixer panel but group eq, comp etc to color groups
Please let me know if the SWS Extensions is more for musicians and not for voice over, (on Reaper), right? Thanks a lot in advance for details when replying! Cheers!
I think there's something good for all users especially if you want to customize to speed up working. If I only did voiceover and editing I would still be using Cycle Actions, marker utilities, loudness, and other sws actions
Cool video, thanks ! I'm trying to create an action to do this: a) In track view, insert a 4-bar empty midi clip at the playhead cursor b) open this midi clip c) insert a C2 midi note the total length of the clip (i.e. 4 bars) d) return to Track View I can create an action to do a), but not b,c,d). Is this something that a Cycle Action could do?
inserting a note would require reascript The closest pre-made one is Script: pandabot_ChordGun scale note 1.lua but the length wouldn't be right, and it's far too complicated of a script to modify. Looking into a simple script for inserting that note for you. My reascript is real rusty.
Found a solution! save a MIDI item as a .mid add it to a slot in SWS resources window, media item page The whole desired workflow is now "SWS/S&M: Resources - Add media file to current track, slot 1"
I want to make the parent track automatically recieve the same color as the children, is that possible? I can only get it to work the other way around.
Why does the !1008 pause marker miss the mark by a few milliseconds? That's really annoying! Wanna use !1008 pause marker to setup a live peformance setlist One marker on start of each song... But I have to nudge all the markers a LITTLE BIT before the next bar otherwise it misses the first click of the metronome?!? And If I select a marker, I have to hit Spacebar TWICE, because the first hit does the same "millisecond missing pause" and THEN it continues on the second spacebar pres... :/ so annoying
