Bit late but I have an idea for a video: Imagine you use only one camera, maybe a 6+K camera, to record interviews (like 2+ people, at a table, desk, arm-/lounge-chair, couch, …) and you want to crop that to a multiple views / multi camera kind a thing. E.g. down to 4K or better FullHD video. What / how would you do that in / with DaVinci Resolve? Regards .
@adriancampos1

Hey Alex. Thank you for your video. I especially liked the HDMI cables and label maker you featured. I have an additional question, so, let’s say I have a bunch of 3070 GPUs that suddenly I have no major need for as of Sept ‘22. Would I be able to build a live video production rig with these GPUs and perhaps the cables you mentioned? Thank you in advance.

I discovered Atzebe and fiber optic HDMI cables in 2021 and it was also a game changer for my live streams, as I operate on football or rugby stadiums with long distances. No more SDI converter needed
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
They’re really great for long cable runs aren’t they! What sort of distances are you running them?
@zenissart
@zenissart Год назад
@@AlexPettitt We usually operate with 4 cameras: 1 wireless with the Hollyland Mars 400S Pro (1080p, not the new 4k you're talking in this video) which can run along the line on the pitch, and 3 cameras on the stands, I use 5 to 50 meters cables depending where the ATEM extreme could be. Except the distance, the great thing about this cables is that they're really thin and easy to roll after the show.
@retlwiz
@retlwiz Год назад
For me it's biggie, but the ATEM Extreme SDI has really upped my game in this type of work. I do a certain amount of work on bigger shows, so being able to bring in SDI inputs is great. Two USB outputs and SuperSource are also a boon. Currently exploring integrating it with MixEffectPro on the iPad. Will definitely get that labelling device!
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
Couldn’t agree more, the ATEM Extreme SDI is a great shout! How are you finding not having a HDMI output for monitors / Multiview. I thought it would bother me more, but I just carry a bi-directional convert for that with me now :) Thanks for the comment. Really glad you enjoyed the video (and label maker!)
@retlwiz
@retlwiz Год назад
@@AlexPettitt yes, the ideal would be a mix of SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs, but I plan to get a monitor with an SDI input to cut down on the converters. Having an HDMI slide feed from a laptop without a converter would be useful, but it’s not a deal breaker. One surprise bonus is that as you need two SDI cables to input and control each camera I now have the option of NOT controlling my Pocket 4k from the ATEM, which I didn’t have before. This is great because I have the freedom to record ProRes instead of BRAW in-camera (easier for a lot of clients) and I can now also control my URSA MINI PRO (with the b4 lens) if I need to and give it a tally, for the operator.

For my live sports broadcasting job the Accsoon UK CineEye 2S has been a game changer. Incredible distance that beats the Hollyland system I had. Roaming cameras have never losed connection once compared to the Hollyland system. Went about 1,000 ft with line of sight and batteries lasted for 9 hours

Used the Mars M1 for months during live streams. My only gripe is that the HDMI output to the ATEM has black-level issues. You'll notice footage always looked way darker on the ATEM than on the receiving M1. As if it is not mapping black levels correctly; 16-235 vs 0-255. Hopefully, Holllyland will fix that via a firmware update or allow us to choose full or limited RGB. For now the only temporary fix is raising the master pedestal level on the camera.

Been looking at Fiber HDMI cables for a little bit now - would there be any issues using a 50 foot, when say a 30 or 40 foot would do the trick - trying to figure out if I really need to run shorter cable lengths if I actually have a longer length cable available - Thanks

I feel like you are the most experienced one around here with wireless transmitters, so please give me an advice. Im planing to use atomx cast with ninja v with multiply cameras for events that are around 6 hours. But im so tired of doing the multicam later in premier, so i would like to use the final program video from the ninja v. For this to happen i need at least 2 transmitters that sends high quality video ( lossless) with 0 delay ( if possible) so than i can use 2 of them alongside directly connected cam A. I will be using 3x FX30 or 3xGH6. Budget for all transmitters is around 4-5K Euros. Would be nice if i can do it for 3 of course but… you know. I was thinking spark 4k but won’t they get toasted after using them every week twice for 6 hours a day? Battery life is short and they get hot. By the way the Mars 4k… does it send higher than 25mbit/s ? Quality is number one factor. And finally… why only us and uk codes? Cant we have for europe too? I mean of this is what you will be recommending.

Last time you did an awesome video on wireless HDMI with Teradek spark 4k. The unit has less than a millisecond of delay/almost zero delay at 4k 30. I was thinking about it and just realized it is actually twice the price of this hollyland mars 4k.
@reywalterzamora151
@reywalterzamora151 Год назад
Did you also consider the Teradek Spark 4k for wireless HDMI? If not, could you also share with us why? Maybe because of the variety of things you could do with the Mars 4k? Thank you. Awesome review!
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
Yes I also am a big fan of the Spark 4K. Especially for those critical live broadcasts where I need zero latency on the wireless feed :) The main reason I went with the Hollyland, as you've already hinted at, is because of all the added benefits you get with the director tools etc. The M1 and the 4K just work so well together, I've really been loving it so far :) Hope this helps

Hi! I have a question: If I have multiple Insta360 link webcams to one PC at the same time, the external software (like VMIX) should be recognize each one, right? I mean, I could switch between Cam1, Cam2, Cam3, in Vmix, on a livestream?

What were the extra connectors on the fiber optic HDMI cables at the ATEM Mini?
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
Hey Nic, they’re not needed in normal setup situations. They were CEC Blockers that were used to kill the two way connection between the ATEM and Blackmagic Camera’s. If you watch the Sidemen vs Mr Beast video, I explain a little about why we needed them specifically for that shoot. Hope this helps :)

Hey Alex, what do you mean plug them in the wrong way around at 2:41 please? Is that to say one is a SENDER and the other end is receiving?? I figured HDMI works both ways or is Fibre HDMI different in this capacity? Cheers as always!
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
Hey, yes correct. There is a sender and receiver side. If you plug them in the wrong way round, the cable wont work. Normal HDMI cables you can plug either way round, but Fiber HDMI you have to make sure you are connecting the correct way :)

Wishful thinking to get teradek levels of latency for half the price. Still on the fence for my 4k transmitter.
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
I've used both and can say that the 60ms of latency on the Hollyland i've only really noticed when mixing the wireless and wired cams together for either sports broadcasts, or stuff where you're zoomed in close on face (for lip sync). If you're just looking for a wireless camera to cover a wide shot or something like that, save the money and go for the Hollyland. Hope this helps
@EdwardDelaTorre
@EdwardDelaTorre Год назад
@@AlexPettitt absolutely does help. My use case concern is syncing audio with multi-cameras (some stationary some mobile) during corporate events where speakers speak at a podium. I could save the money and dial in the delays though.

For the remote control of the Insta Link, are you doing a remote desktop session, or can you genuinely control it over the internet?
@AlexPettitt
@AlexPettitt Год назад
I have the possibility to do both :) Remote Desktop into the Mac pre show as I like to set up manual colour controls etc inside the Link app. But during the show, I don’t like to remote into the Mac and take over the screen incase that disrupts the talent (as the screen is giving them a return feed from the studio). So I can actually control the PTZ function fully remotely without a Remote Desktop session active. I may do a video showing how in the near future :)
